Well, we didn't see any affects of the hurricane yet, but the other side of the island is experiencing strong winds and rain. It is to hit that side at midnight tonight. We will see if it makes its way over here. The schools on this island is closed for another day.

Todays QOTD is-When you were a child, what job did you want to have?

Happy Birthday!

I never really thought about having a career as a child. I wanted to get married and be a SAHM. (which I got to do for 12 years)

So Patsy, are you emotional today??? I feel so emotional over Landon getting ready to turn one! Doing anything special today? I want to take Landon to build a bear to do a birthday bear next week. So how big is Brandon now? My little peanut is just 17lbs.

Amanda-Today seems like a regular day since we already celebrated Brandon's birthday. We had a party at our house with around 80 people. We had a pinata, birthday cake, games, goodie bags.....and LOTS of food. I wanted to have the party while my SS was still here visiting with us, and before Shayla started school.
I am not sure on Brandon's height, but he weighs 25 pounds, so he is a big boy. We have his next doctors appointment in a week and a half more shots .

Hope they both have wonderful birthdays. I can't believe it's been a year already. My little one will be 1 on the 19th of September and she took her first steps today.

Thank you to all who had wished Brandon a happy birthday. Since Brandon's birthday is now over, it is time for me to think of Shaylas. I am going to bring in cupcakes to her class, and is having trouble finding those edible sugar decorations online at a resonable price and resonable shipping price. And, we don't have stores like that in my area that carries them . So todays QOTD is-

Do you have alot stores in your area that carries things that you need, or do you look online for the products? What items do you have a hard time finding in your area that you have found online?

Same here, once I travel about 35 minutes in any direction, I can find what I need.

When I was much younger I really didn't have a job that I wanted to grow up and do but I do remember wanting to be a horse once.

I live three miles from most of the stores I frequent. I thought that I had moved to the country but it has all grown up around us. This little town I moved to is not so little anymore.

When traveling on a plane, how do you spend your time on the plane? Do you watch the movie that is being shown on the plane, buy snacks, eat, read,.....?

I live in a rural area too. I can drive about 35 mins and get what I want but I hate shopping!! It's always crowded at my local stores. I prefer to shop online.

I wanted to be a teacher until high school then I wanted to be a lawyer or a recording engineer. Well I homeschool my kids so I am a teacher , and having 3 kids home all day I'm often a lawyer/Judge too!! Along with a nurse and a chef and well -you all know!!

I gave up the recording engineer idea when I saw the math they had to do

I used to hate the shots thing when my kids were little. My DS had a horrible reaction to a shot (who knows which-they gave him 3 at once!) when he was 3. He hasn't had any since and neither has my youngest DD. The Doc and I felt the reaction was too severe to chance it. He suggested waiting until they were in their teens. I don't mean to scare anyone..just saying what happened to me and mine.

I haven't been on much this past week. My brother in law and his wife decide to throw a "last minute" 25 Anniversary party for my in-laws. And hey by the way can you get a cake and bring desserts? To top it off they are making it a surprise party. My MIL HATES surprise parties...especially when they are at HER house!! She's gonna flip!! She's not the best of housekeepers and while "the kids" are used to it extended family and work friends aren't. She's going to be so embarrassed. I hoping to get there early to tidy up a bit for her.
It should be interesting!!

I've never been on an airplane before. We drive to Florida. We drove to Arizona back in 2001 (pre-911). It just seems so expensive to fly 5 people, plus DS refuses to fly. He's too afraid. Actually I probably would only fly if I HAD too. Like if I was going to Ireland, Scotland, Italy or Germany.

Most things we want are within 30 mins drive time. I do like to online shop though b/c I get some good deals. (etc..my ebay addiction)


Well when I have flown the flights have only been about 2 hours or less so I just talk, look out the window, eat and maybe do a little reading.

When flying, I like to talk with John or I look through a mag. We leave early so I would really like to sleep, but I never can.

And just sitting still for a simple flight to Florida, drives me batty.

DH and I like to chat, but he likes the window, and I like the aisle, and sometimes there's a middle person. That's when I take out Sudoku puzzles!

I rarely travel by plane anymore except back to NY once in a while. While on the plane I like to read. Planes make me very nervous. I prefer driving.

I am usually the one taking care of the kids while we are on the plane. I do get plane sick so if there is alot of turbulance, it doesn't help me. But, I do bring magazines with me just in case I get a chance to skim through them.
