Ok! I get to do the QOTD today! :cool1:

Turkey Talk:
Has anyone ever tried to fry a turkey for Thanksgiving?

Or have you wanted to, but you're afraid you will be that family on TV who burned their house down on Turkey day trying like I am? :rotfl2:

QOTD Part Deux:
What is your favorite childhood memory of Thanksgiving?
It doesn't have to be specific moment or event, it can be just a feeling you got during the holiday or a warm and fuzzy memory.

That is a very nice picture Jennifer.

For Thanksgiving dessert, we have the regular pumpkin pie with whipped cream, and a bunch of different desserts. It depends on what everyone brings, and what I feel like making. Not sure yet on what we will exactly have. I am usually more organized, but things have been so overwhelming that I have not worked out all of that info. yet.

I have never tried to fry a turkey before, but have tried it. I am not a fan of turkey to begin with, and I prefer the basic way of cooking it.

I actually do not remember Thanksgiving meals growing up as much. It was just a basic thing of getting together with family, and having a big meal. Then being tired, and having alot to clean up.

Thank you for doing the QOTD Jennifer.

For dessert we have pumpkin pie, my grandma makes it and its the best! Also usually have pecan pie. When we celebrate with my Dad's side we will have much more, probably a cookie plate, fruit platter, my aunt always makes me a cherry pie, and this year i'm going to try to make a pumpkin spice cake with brown sugar cream cheese frosting, hopefully its as good as it sounds!!

Never have tried to make a turkey let alone fry it, i'd be too afraid but I bet its delicious! Good luck :)

Umm don't really have a favorite memory, I guess all the times spent at my grandparents :)

I've never eaten much less fried a turkey. I prefer them cooked the regular way in the oven. If we were to do something different, it would be smoking one.

When I think of Thanksgiving, my first thought is way back when I was in high school. I remember going to my aunt's house and my cousin and I eating till we were almost sick. I think that we had three or four helpings of most things. We were thin as rails back then and it didn't matter how much we ate. It was soooooo good!!!!

What a great picture!! Thanks for sharing.

Frying turkeys - I've never done it, but my dad has several times (not for Thanksgiving though). It's very good.

Favorite memory - I loved making the cranberry relish with my Mom. I had the job of washing all the cranberries! I used to love going out in the yard with my dad and sister after dinner and tossing the football around, and then taking a walk around the block, looking at my favorite house near where we lived. Now we have Thanksgiving with neighbors as usually dh has to work the day after Thanksgiving and we can't logically travel 8 hours in 1 day to have dinner with either set of parents!

My daughter came up with todays QOTD. It was something they had to do for their club meeting.

Complete the following sentence.

I am thankful for..............

I am thankful for family and friends of course. My health and my family's health.

Also, just for fun..Barnes and Noble, Harry Potter, fuzzy socks, fleece blankets, Entertainment Weekly and People magazine, The Humane Society, Maroon 5, Walt Disney, and DVR ;)

I am thankful for my family, friends, church and country, among many other things. Also, today, I am very thankful for my family's health- a family friend found out today that their son has cancer, and that totally brought it home for me. I am so thankful for my kids and their health.

Turkey Talk-

Do you call the side dish made out of bread, and seasoning dressing or stuffing? You know the _____ that is made by Stove Top? How do you differentiate the difference between stuffing, and dressing?

"Stuffing" is what we call it here in Canada. "Dressing" is what I use on my salads (salad dressing).

i definitely call it stuffing, dressing is what goes on a salad lol but around the holiday time I know what people mean if they call it dressing

It's stuffing. I have heard the dressing part too, but that's what I do in the morning silly!

I call it stuffing. But, I had learned from watching t.v. that the thing that you put into the turkey is called stuffing, and if it is made outside of the turkey like on the stove, it is called stuffing.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Here is our last Turkey Talk QOTD day.

*Who does the cooking for your Thanksgiving meal?
*Who does the cleaning?
*How many days of leftovers do you usually have?

Happy Thanksgiving!

We all share, I'm doing the turkey this year.

I will do a lot of the cleanup.

Not sure how much we'll have left over because we're not sure exactly how many will be there. The number changes daily.

Cracker Barrel is doing my cooking and serving this year (and last) ;).

Like last year, afterwards we are heading to DHS with some friends.

I do all the cooking, DH does some of the cleaning, and we usually have enough leftovers to feed an army, as I tend to over cook, but am trying to scale back the amount of food I cook, starting this weekend, when we are having some friends over for dinner. If I cut it in half, should be enough leftovers to keep everyone happy without getting sick of it.

Hey Patsy!! I'm giving you a day off! ;):goodvibes

Today's question:

Are you participating in Black Friday and where did you go?

Did you find any really good deals? If so, what were they?

Sorry, that's more than one question but I can't help myself!!!:rotfl:
