We have no plans for New Years Eve.

My mom has invited us over for lunch New Years Day. We're having black eyed peas for good luck. I'm making a broccoli/rice casserole and she's making cornbread. Not sure about the meat dish.

We spend the News Years Holiday very quietly, just the 5 of us! at home. Our tradition is always to have Chinese food NYE, watch New Years Rocking Eve and have a toast at Midnight! NYD we have have a nice dinner, watch the Rose Parade and the guys watch the football games. I was never fond of the New Years Holiday, maybe because it is the END of the Holiday Season which to me always feels like such a huge let down!!!:sad2::sad1::confused3

Oh yay! :)

I'm Nikki, my fav character is Ariel, and I love Disney Princess dolls and Mickey Bears the most. :)

I will be home New Year's Eve, watching my two boys and a friend's little girl, since my DH and our friends have to work at the restaurant. :( I'm hoping my DH will be home in time to say "Happy New Year!"

I don't care for New Year's much either...as I too lament the end of the Holidays!

Welcome to our group Nikki. Happy holidays to you, and your family. Hope your husband does make it home in time for the New Year.

For New Years Eve, I think our relatives will come over, and we will pop firecrackers.

If you were to treat yourself to a nice dinner with a significant other, what restaurant would you like to go to, and what would you order?

Since dh is a very picky eater, we don't don't go to eat. But I would like to try any of these... Red Lobster, Olive Garden, Outback, TIG Fridays, etc.

New Years Eve, and New Years Day is coming up. We usually have family over at around 9, and we serve different dishes-from desserts and side dishes. I am still thinking of what to make this year, so today's QOTD is-

Do you make anything special for New Years Eve/Day, or have any suggestions for me?

We always have our old neighbors/friends over for New year's Eve, we eat, watch movies, go into the hot tub and have a great time. They stay over so we don't have to worry about them being on the road after all the parties let out.

We would go to one of the seafood restaurants at the harbor in Baltimore.

If money were no option, I would go to a local restaurant called The Oar House. I have never been there but I've heard that it's very good and expensive.

I would walk to Felico's a really good italian restaurant a couple of blocks from where we live. It's a little on the expensive side, but the food is excellent and well worth the price. I would probably order the salmon, and DH would order a steak.

i'm so glad I'm not the only one who feels this way!!!:confused3;) I feel that New Years is such a let down after all the PREP for Christmas!! We start the Season 2 months before the day and then 12:01 the 26th it's like it never existed!! So sad!!! No weening us off Christmas just have to quit cold turkey!!!:confused3:lmao:

When my DH and I go out to eat we like to get a good steak and Boston has quite a few good steak houses. Abe and Louis's,Ruth's Chris,Flemmings and our favorite Top of the Hub! We used to go there all the time BK (before kids) It's a great place ,it's 52 floors above the Back Bay in the Prudential Building! It also has the Sky Walk with a 360 degree view of the Boston skyline and waterfront! Very special place! And let's not forget the North End with the most amazing Italian restaurants, coffee houses and bakeries....So much to choose from and so little time..... (or elastic in my clothes!!!):confused3:rotfl:

Haha! I do think we should be weaned off of Christmas!! The holidays aren't officially over until New Year's day anyway! And for some people, the week after that! I put up my decorations right before Thanksgiving and they don't come down until a few days after New Year's! :rotfl::yay:

And thank you so much Momtwotwo for the welcome greeting! :)

Well, my DH is actually part owner of a Japanese Steakhouse & Sushi bar, so we pretty much can eat there whenever we want. Funny, though, that if him and I were to choose where we would like to eat locally for New Year's Eve (which won't happen b/c he has to work) we would go to a Thai restaurant. We LOVE Thai food! Now, if I could have ANY wish at all for New Year's Day, I would love to go to Fulton's Crab House at Downtown Disney where we went to eat on our Honeymoon, then hang out at the new Please Island after wards. Fulton's was really delicious! (Is the new PI open yet??):confused3

Heidi, I know that it is not the same as eatting at the restaurant, but Outback does have curb side pick up. So you could order ahead of time, and pick up your food, and eat at home.

You're welcome :). Thai food-yum. What are some of your favorites? I am trying to decide if I should pick up some pad thai today, or maybe make some for dinner.

If you owned a private jet, how often would you use it, and which locations/countries/states...would you frequent the most, and why?

Cool.

I would use it all the time, and the first country I would visit would be England.

Hmmm, I probably wouldn't own a jet since I don't like to fly but if I did I'd go to all the Disney World's. I'd visit England, Ireland and Australia because they interest me the most. Germany too.

I would use it often, but the opposite from you guys! I would use it to visit the USA from England! I would go to Orlando, various parts of California, Vegas, New York amongst others. I would also use it to go to Australia and to Paris (rather than driving and taking the shuttle.) I would also visit Tokyo and Hong Kong Disneylands too!
