If i pop it myself, just butter and a little salt. If i buy it prepopped then white cheddar cheese.

With the new year here, many people have different resolutions, and on many peoples lists, losing weight is one of them, so todays QOTD is-

What do you think is the easiest way to lose weight? Feel free to give any tips.
My NY Resolution is to get rid of a few pounds.
I'm trying to watch what I eat, and get moving! I precut a bunch of veggies so I have something to snack on during the day. Moderation! If I want to eat a cookie or dessert, I do but just a little.

We'll see how long it lasts! :rotfl2:

What is your most favorite flavors/types of popcorn?

Fresh kettle corn popcorn. yum! They make it at Hershey Park and we always get a big bag before we leave.

Just regular popcorn with butter (or in my case marg as the kids are dairy allergic and hoover around me like sharks ready to attack their prey whenever I make it).

I am not much of a popcorn fan. But I like sour cream and chives-can't find these anymore :(, furikake with arare, butter, and kettle corn.

I've not heard of furikake or arare. What are they?

I like caramel corn, white cheddar, and just plain old butter popcorn.

If you were driving, and had suddenly gotten stuck in your car due to an snow storm, and had to spend the night in the car. Do you have all the necessary things needed to stay warm, hydrated..... in your car right now?

Furikake is a seasoning that you put onto rice, or for rice balls. And arare is Japanese soy sauce rice crackers. You mix the furikake and arare together with extra buttery popcorn, and that is a local favorite.

No we don't, just never thought about it.

Not right now, as I've dejunked the mom mobile of everything but chains and first aid stuff in prep for our drive down to DL at the end of the month. Wait a couple of weeks though, and will have all the neccessary items to do so.

No, we don't get snow storms here, maybe out in west Texas. When we drove to Chicago a couple of years ago in December, we checked the weather but stocked our car with blankets and water in addition to the food we were taking for along the way and our luggage.

I don't at the moment, but I definitely should. When I was in college, I would drive home on an interstate known to shut down due to snowstorms. It was near Lake Michigan, and would get the "lake effect" snow. I never got stuck, thankfully, but I had friends who were stuck overnight on the interstate one time.

Sounds good! :)

I had gotten a Grocery Savings Guide in the mail, and found some interesting, and useful tips. So for todays QOTD, tell us a money saving or earth friendly tip that you find useful.

Here is a tip that was in the booklet.

Purchase oranges, onions, and potatoes in bags rather than individually. You'll pay roughly half the price. And these are items that will more than likely get used before they go bad.

I agree with you Patsy on the vegetables. Buying a head of lettuce is much cheaper than a bag of lettuce.

Meat is also cheaper when bought in bulk. You can buy the larger amounts and then divide it up and put it into freezer bags for storage.

Compare prices between big and small quantities. I was looking at the tuna fish today and thought I would buy one big can instead of two small ones. The Starkist 5 oz was 69 cents but the 12 oz. can was $2.69. I think I'll just keep buying the small cans.

Popcorn - LOVE fresh kettle corn, so good! Also like microwave extra butter, and I like it really salty

Car- no, im ashamed to say I don't have any of that stuff and I live in the midwest where I really should!

Saving tips- i agree with the buying a head of lettuce rather than a bag. Also just buying store brands for things you don't mind. I buy a lot of store brand condiments and boxed things but of course there are things that just aren't the same, like Oreos :)

Great tips ladies.

Also comparison shop. By doing so you may be able to save alot to a few cents on an item, but it all adds up.

I read that out of the 50 U.S. states, 49 of them has snow. The only one that does not is Florida. Does it ever snow there?

So today's QOTDs of the day is-

*Does it snow at your house?
*If it does not snow at your house, where is the closest place that it is currently snowing in?
*What types of snow activities do you like to participate in?
*What comfort foods, and drinks do you enjoy during a cold day/night?
*Have you ever been stuck in your car due to snow-for a traffic jam, heavy snow,....if so, tell us about your experience.

Does it snow at your house?? Yup...got 6 inches of the white stuff last night, but the temps warmed up today so the great melt is on and we now have 6 inches of slush
What types of snow activities do you like to participate in?? Sneaking up on the kids and having snowball fights. Kids like to build snowman, which they are currently doing.
Comfort foods...coffee, hot chocolate and popcorn.
Have been stuck once in another town many years ago, and took the next day to get home. Also once I narrowly avoided a closed hwy by driving into work just before they closed it down due to 1 ft of ice covering the hwy. Kept my speed even, with no sudden movements and was fine.
