Just a warning about check out the night before to pay off account. My DH did this at 11pm after returning from the parks on our last night. When we got home we received in the mail our MasterCard bill showing a charge on the whole amount owing and then a credit for the same amount in US(funds). We got charged the fees for International exchange twice for both amounts! It was only about $20 difference, but my DH said forget about it and let it go.

Lesson learned do not go too late because the computer will have already charged your credit card.

Does anyone know when the computer does this at night so we could avoid this next time?

RBC rate at the moment is 1.124 to buy.

1.084 to sell US

They do take traveller's cheques, just be careful if you want to charge to your room, make sure you pay with your traveller's cheques the night before you check out. The last time we went we tried to pay with traveller's cheques and told them we would do so when we checked in. Unfortunately when we went to check out they had already charged my visa (i had it set up to be able to make charges with our room key). I tried to get them to reverse it so I could use my traveller's cheques but unfortunately they did a return which meant a different exchange rate and I lost about $40.00, I was so upset when we got home that I had to pay a double exchange rate-- one with Visa and the one I had paid with my traveller's cheques :sad2: so just be careful, pay the night before you go!!! Have a great Trip!!!

I use them at check in so I can still use the charging priveledges to my room but not have to give them a credit card. If you want to charge you either have to pay cash (or traveller's cheque) or a credit card.

Just FYI - Capital One is the only credit card company in Canada that does NOT charge the 2.5 % premium on foreign transactions.

:)

Does that apply to all Capital One credit cards, or should I be looking for a particular card that they offer?

Thanks in advance for your help!
