Exchange Disney Dollars at Guest Services

Can you still exchange Disney Dollars for cash at Guest Services if you have extra?

I know they used to "buy them back," but I thought they stopped that a few years ago. Someone posted recently that they had done this, but it wasn't clear to me if they'd done this *recently* or sometime in the past.

Anyone know?

I asked this before our trip in 2004 and was told at the Dusney Store that they were not exchangable. Don't know if she knew what she was talking about though. I didn't ask if Guest Services would buy them back. It is a good question.
My rule of thumb is use the Disney Dollars first then real cash just to get rid of them.

No, the Disney Store will give you change in cash, but doesn't exchange them. This is something only Guest Services inside the parks has been known to do (at least by me) or by mail (somewhere in the depths of my Disney research I am sure I have an address for that, but it could be just a Figment...)

Well, I've found some more things, but again, this could be outdated information.

Any Guest Services (including those in the hotels) should be able to exchange DD for cash...

...but you might need your purchase receipt to prove that you paid full price for them (apparently, some people were buying them at a discount and turning them in for full credit.)

Does anyone have current information that isn't hearsay?

I have no hard answers but i would be suprised if they still did this after the split between disney and the stores., especially since you can use a gift card at the disney store to buy Disney Dollars

We were there last week. On Saturday, we made a last trip to DTD for souvenirs that we forgot to get. When the kids were all done, DD(7) had $30 left in Disney Dollars. In the middle of the store there was a desk for Guest Services. On the desk was a sign that said you could exchange disney dollars there. I asked and sure enough, the cast member took the $30 into the back and returned with $30 cash.

The night before, we were told we could exchange any left over Disney Dollars back into cash at any Guest Services at any resort or park.
