For the regular dining plan, does anyone know if they will let you substitute an appetizer instead of getting the dessert? Maybe order an appetizer on my meal plan and husband order dessert on his meal plan, and we just split both (along with our regular meals). Anyone heard about this being okay, or done it themselves? Thanks!

Sorry, but it's absolutely not allowed to substitute dessert for appetizer. (even for medical reasons)

What you want to do is probably why they don't allow it. :lmao: Less revenue and more table time.

Swapping desserts for appetizers on the basic plan is not permitted under any circumstances, including medical issues.

Sorry no dice:sad1: but I think that would be an excellent choice if they would let you select either a appetizer or dessert. I am not a dessert person and would have loved an appetizer instead:woohoo: . We recently came back from the world last month. I feel I lost out on what I paid for because myself and my husband did not eat our deserts but would have devoured appetizerspopcorn:: I think they should let the choice be up the person ordering.:cool1:

I just cant understand why people can not read the simple rules of the dining plan.
The rules are VERY clear and keep moaning does not help.

If you want an appetizer buy the Deluxe plan. Its as simple as that.

Or, just don't buy any Dining Plan, period. Order and pay a la carte. JMO, but the Dining Plan seems particularly a waste of money for Guests who never eat dessert :confused3:

Your soooooo wright.
Don't buy a dining plan if you don't like it and please stop moaning about the rules.

The OP was a simple respectful question, I didn't see any moaning in it at all. They have 11 posts.

Cut them a break and don't take out all your frustrations with other DIS members who obviously have moaned about the DDP or that you have read the same question a hundred times on the OP. You didn't have to answer them if it ticks you off so much to see that particular question.

I apologize to the OP. Keep asking questions, everyone was new once.

TOUCHE!!! :lmao: Well said...:goodvibes :goodvibes

I would of asked the same question a few yrs ago when I was learning about the dining plan.

And how would the OP know. The snack option on the dining plan is specific but look at all the posts that indicate that you can get many more snacks than what is originally offered on the plan.

I'm pretty sure neither sjaakie or I was referring to the original post, but to a post made further into this thread

.

Anyway, this and pretty much everything else related to the DDP is addressed in the DISBoards FAQ http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1545287

It still scares off new posters especially when the response is on a thread they started.

It also does nothing to further the discussion of the original question.

I wish you could - It seems about the same price but it may be too confusing for them to sort out.

I know the rules on this but still look when the question comes up just in case anyone has experienced a change of heart from Disney.

It's been posted on many occasions exactly why you can't get a choice of appetizer or dessert. It's because you will probably do what many posters say they'd like to do - one person will order an appetizer, the other a dessert, and they'll share. So you are at the table for three courses, but only paying for two. That is the reason you don't get a choice.

The OP has the answer and this thread is just a fight, so I'm closing it.
