Exceeding occupancy limit w/ 3 yo? Sneaking?

While I've never heard of anyone being tossed out for occupancy, you might also consider that if you are frequent visitors to WDW, they ask names and ages of the family. They might wonder where your four year old came from next year, if they're not listed on this year's ressie.

I agree that WDW should have more options for larger families. We are a family of four, so it doesn't apply to us, but I'm sure I would be tempted as well.

I don't have a dog in this race, except to comment about WDW wondering where a four year old came from the following year.

What if you adopted a 4 year old child in between trips to WDW?

Never assume.

I have to agree. My last trip, I took my brother, but not my girls, since they were really too little to get anything out of it, and we were doing a commando trip. This trip, I've got three additional kids, two of them way over infant age. Disney would never call me up and question me as to why I didn't bring those two last time! It's none of their business!! :rotfl:

I had to LOL at this. Wonder where they think my 2, 3 and 4 year old came from last year? We adopted....but still, too funny what they must have thought. This normal family of 4, now renting 2 rooms and having 3 more children all but one 'non infant'. We of course told them we had adopted...and we were celebrating with our trip, so we headed off any confusion. It's hectic to give them ages when we call too, and they've gotten them mixed up a few times, so they are never right when we check in and we have to change them.

Yes, I thought about the adoption issue, too, even though I'm the one who posted about Disney wondering where the kids come from. They ask so many questions, sometimes, you just wonder exactly WHAT they're tracking, don't you?? Kinda creepy...
OTOH, I always mess up my kid's ages when calling, since I book so far in advance...

The OP will do what she feels she needs to do. I'm always amazed that this question is even asked - and that it's asked so often. Some people see it as cheating and some don't. I'm sure Disney DOES see it as cheating. It's not something I would do, but I'm not going to tell anyone else what to do - or suggest if it's right or wrong. That's the OP's decision.

DisFlan

I also do not wear a halo, and will chime in on this issue. Question for those who "never stray from the rules": DOes that mean you NEVER go over the speed limit? Afterall, it's the law to adhere to such speed limits. And I would think that speeding would be way more dangerous, not only to yourself but also to others, than allowing a 3 year old in the room.

Okay, to the OP, truthfully, I have never been in those rooms, so I cannot speak to their size. I know that some of my friends have done what you are suggesting and have never been caught. Disney staff do not stalk people...honestly.
AND, Honestly, how much time do you spend in your room?? We always have a condo, and we are NEVER there. I would also wonder if the 3 year old could double up with one of the other kids or maybe sleep with you and hubby.
I say do what you feel is best for your family. =)

My take on this type of scenario is that if it's ok for one person to 'sneak' it needs to be ok for everyone to do so? So, OP, are you OK if every family at the Value where you stay sneaks in an additional child or two to go over on occupancy?

That would lead to way more kids in the pool, longer lines at the food court, longer waits for the buses (since 10 families used to be up to 40 people, but now are up to 50 people - the bus will definitely fill up more quickly) and eventually higher prices at Values since they will accomodate more people.

If that is ok with you - then yes it is ok. It's when it gets to 'well, not everyone, just me' that I get irritated with bending the rules. Why should one person be allowed and not everyone?

I am a family of 5 and I would have to pay to stay at a Mod. My family and I are not rich by any means. Bottom line, if you can't afford Disney don't go.

You people talking about breaking the law, being kicked out, ect. make me laugh. This lady is going to spend alot of $$$ at disney, & there is now way what so ever she has anything to worry about. The only question to her is whether or not you could deal with the small space? You will be fine unless your 3 year old asks the hotel at check-in whether it's ok or not that they have 5 in their party, or if 1 of the maids that doesn't speak english rats on you for having an extra kid with you. Obviously, this person's budget is tight and wants to treat her kids to the best vacation she possibly can. Some of you Brady Bunch folks are a joke. Have a great trip with your children.

I agree.. We are a family of 6..so I am very limited to a budget onsite stay. Thats just what happens when we have more kids.

So should should purchase a ticket since the child is only 3 also?

Sorry Lisa, the question was not about tickets, it was whether or not she could bring her 3 year old into her room. Personally, I could care a less what she does. I just have to laugh at some of the responses to her.

We all know what the rule is...what someone chooses to do is up to them and it doesnt make them a bad person :rolleyes1

What does it make them then? My opinion is that people should pay what they owe. It's as simple as that.

As usual, this type of question has generated its standard responses. The OP has gotten her answers and we're beating an already-dead horse here. I think she can make her decision. Time to move on to another subject before the namecalling starts.
