I bought some jeans today at Old Navy. No need to try them on, I'd fallen in love with these particular ones when a friend bought them and I knew what size I'd need. And just because I'm not ashamed of it I'll admit, they were 14 short. I am 5'3" and these pants are about 3 inches too long! What exactly do they think short is then? If I were 5'5" and wearing tall shoes they'd be fine! Unfortunately, they are slightly flared and my sewing skills do not include easing in fabric to hem flared pants :furious:

I don't want to return them because they are so comfy and fit so well but dag nabbit, I'm not THAT short! Normally short or petite is perfect and average is just a hair too long but I can wear it. How tall is the average woman anyway???

I thought average was 5'6". I'm 5'11", so I am a giant compared to you, Shug. :sunny:

I understand your frustration. DH doesn't understand why I won't pants in the misses section and hem them. I refuse to pay good money and then trim off 3 or more inches for the length to fit. I am only 5'2".

Does that make you someone I can look up to? :rotfl: I'm used to being the shrimpy. Dh is 6'8" and if you don't think that's a funny sight to see us together :lmao:

What style are they? I am 5'4" and I love their low-rise bootcut jeans. I wear a 10 short, and the length is usually perfect with whatever shoes I want to wear.

Also, have you tried the Gap?

Now, see...why don't you short chicks save the tall guys for us tall chicks? It's only fair!

They are just below the waist boot cut stretch. I love jeans that don't cut me in 1/2 when I bend over!

Hah!! You don't know the meaning of short. DD12 is 5'3"....freakishly tall on my side of the family. My co-worker calls my office the munchin office, replaced all my 5 drawer filing cabinets for 4 drawer because I couldn't see in the top drawer. I don't even reach 5 foot, I think I'm about 4'10 or 11.

He likes the little ones what can I say? :teeth:

i AM 5 Feet. I have so much trouble finding jeans to fit me. I don't know what they think short is either. They make average jeans and tall jeans too. I have never checked to see how long the tall is, but it just doesn't seem that they made the short short enough for us short people. I often wonder too what they think short is. Everything is geared towards taller people.

I'm so short, I have to hem capri length pants in my size to wear them as a regular length. :confused3

It's not any easier having freakishly long legs.

I am 5'6 and always thought that was pretty average but lately so many of my friends appear to be a tad bit shorter than me....

IS THE WORLD SHRINKING :confused3 ....my mom got shorter, my sis got shorter, my best friend got shorter and best friend's daughter got shorter...WTH :furious:

But despite that fact that I am 5'6, I always seem to find that the pants off the rack usually always fit pretty good length-wise!

OP, do you think you could "shorten" them where you like them sooo much?
Just an idea!

I can hem a mean straight leg but these are a bit flared and that makes it much harder. I may have to see how much the drycleaners charges to do it.

I also want to add that jeans seem to have really long legs this year! I've bought two pair and on both the legs are really really long. Even with high clogs they are long long!

Shug, I think I bought the same brand of pants!! I bought them the night before a weekend trip with my husband. I didn't try them on since my younger son was with me. When I got home and tried them on I couldn't believe it!! They were a 14 short but way too long!! So I cut them a couple of inches and tacked them up for the concert (front row for Tom Petty). Then I was flipping through a magazine and saw Jennifer Aniston in a long pair of jeans dragging on the ground. I had to laugh. I finally bought something in style and I go and "fix" them!!

I'm 5'2" but I truly have freakishly short legs - my inseam is only 26". I'm VERY long waisted - regular rise pants and jeans are LOW rise on me! I also need to buy talls in shirts - my back length is 27". Figure that one out.

Even my Psycho CoIrker, at 4'11", has longer legs than me. No kidding, we measured - her legs are 2" longer than mine.

That all said, I'm noticing that a lot more "petites" are at least 29 1/2 - 30". I cannot go longer than 28" and it's driving me insane.
