Exactly what do they consider short then???

I can hem a mean straight leg but these are a bit flared and that makes it much harder. I may have to see how much the drycleaners charges to do it.

Oh, man, I hear ya, I could NEVER do a flared leg at all. Yes, good idea, see if the dry cleaners could do them for you.

If you lived closer my MIL in CT is a genius with the good ole sewing machine...she would do a hem for you in a n.y. minute!!! :lmao:

Yes, I think the only thing separating Old Navy from The Gap, is price. They both make their pants super-duper too long. I'm 5'2"; I feel your pain!

But there is hope!

It'll cost you a bit more, but apparently Old Navy's parent company used some real designers for Banana Republic, because their pants are actually realistic. BR is my all-time favorite store - love, love, love their Martin fit!

I'm excited to try out the new Forthe and Town when it opens here in The Woodlands. It's The Gap for women over 40.

5'4" may be average, but at that I height take a petite in pant length! Of
course some of my height is in my trunk instead of my legs.:) It sure makes
finding pants a pain, though.;)
I feel for you....:)
Kim

I have the total opposite problem- I'm 5'11, and the "tall" pants usually end up about two inches too short! At least if they're too long, you can have them hemmed, but I'm stuck looking stupid! :)

I think the style is to wear out the bottoms and wear them all shaggy...

Another 5'11" chick. HI FIVE, lady!!

I'm 5' 2". I feel your pain - even the petite pants are sometimes too long.
Where can a girl shop these days?
:confused3

I'm 5' 6", but have a long torso and short(ish) legs. My inseam is 28. Regular length jeans, which I've been wearing for years are too long and bunch up around my calves and ankles, making me look plumper than I already am. Petite pants don't fit because of the afformentioned plumpness.

I just ordered a pair of jeans from Lands End. They let you have the jeans pre-hemmed to whatever inseam you want, so I thought I'd give them a try. I haven't tried them on yet, though. Heck, they're can be returned to any Sears, if they don't fit, which beats buying some other jeans and spending time hemming them. And the price isn't bad at $30 a pair.

I am 5'9" and usually love long length jeans, but Old Navy's regulars fit me...I tried on the longs one day and they were about 3" too long (which is unheard of for me!)

Maybe they design all their sizes longer...

I am 5'9 and with old navy and New York Company long sizes are too long. I just a pair of regular sweat pants form old navy and had to take them up two inches.

I love Old Navy jeans but I agree with you. I am 5' 3" and wear size 8 or 10 Thankfully, I wear high heeled shoes so they don't drag that much :teeth:

I'm right there with you. I was just at Eddie Bauer today and decided to try on some jeans. I've always had great luck with their short jeans but not today. Not only was ever pair baggy but they were way too long. Even with boots on they'd drag on the floor.

I really need new jeans and have been to several stores with no luck. I usually wear an 8 and either the waist fits but the legs are too tight or they're too big or small all over.

I'm 4'11" and have to hem everything..... Did you ever notice that the smaller sizes are always on the top shelves? Makes them really hard to reach when you are leg room gifted !

I think the reason they're making them so long is because the trend seems to be wearing jeans with high heels.

I bought a pair at American Eagle today. I'm 5'3". I tried the regular and they were too long. I tried the short and they were about 1" too short. Frustrating. I ended up buying the average, but I won't be able to wear them with sneakers.

Good lord, I don't want to wear high heels with a dress, why would I want to wear them with my jeans??? Give me comfy tennies any day. Jeans this long just look sloppy to me

Have you noticed what they look like on the teens after awhile? From dragging on the ground, they're frayed and torn and look awful. That would irritate me if I were stepping on my jeans while walking. :confused3

I am so with you on this. In fact I have a vague memory of starting a thread like this last year (and it always turns into mom jeans threads.)

You can come stand next to me and you will feel tall. I am only 5 foot.

The thing about old navy is their sizes are all off. Even from one pair to the next. You always have to try them on. I have ON pants in size 4, 6 and 8 and they all fit. :confused3 The short length is normally fine with me too.

Yes I think people are wearing them long and that bugs me too.

I found a good pair of lucky jeans at a discount store. I took them to a local tailor and she did a great job with them, it cost $8. They look like they came that way.

JJill petites is normally good for my too. :)

I'm only 5'2" and I've noticed this lately too. I like a 29" inseam and I wear heels, usually just 2". But they are closer to 30-31" inseams lately. I've noticed Chadwicks catalog has alot with the 29" inseam, but I've never ordered from there before, so I'm a bit chicken to try it. :confused3 I do have petite jeans right now that are frayed on the bottom. Last time I had something tailored it was another $20!

I am really a big fashion don't. Not only do I refuse to wear high heels with my jeans, I actually like mom jeans! :rotfl:
