This little guy has been on our porch for the past couple of hours. We set out a bag of trash for hubby to take off tomorrow and he came up and took out a diaper and is just sitting there next to it. We through a broom near him to try and scare him off, I took pics of him, yelled at him, etc.. He will turn his head and look at you but not move! WTH? Is he not scared of anything? he did jerk when i took the first pic of him. I moved so darn fast..lol Thought he was gonna charge me but nope he just kept sitting there looking at me. WTH??? How can we make it leave??

Yes my brilliant pg butt went outside in the middle of the night to take a pic of it. :rotfl:

I wish I hadn't opened this thread. Guess what died under my deck that we had to pull out tonight. EWWWWWWWWW!

HI!

He looks like a baby. If he is still hanging around, he might be injured. I'd contact a wild animal rescue near you. Possums are one of the cleanest animals in the wild so, nothing to stress about. He's probably way more stressed than you. :sunny:

Awww, I think he is adorable! I wouldn't worry. He'll probably be gone by the morning. :goodvibes

I agree, he is CUTE... He's a possum is he? I've not seen one...

I guess I'd worry if he didn't leave by morning... is he still there? He really is cute :)

Poor baby. My mil had a visitor like this, only full grown. It was so hungry it just stood there and looked at her. She took a broom at it. It just stayed. She put the pokey end of the broom at it...still just looked at her. She splashed water on it...in its face. It just pawed the water out of its eyes. She went in and got a loaf of bread and gave it to the possum, it grabbed it up, started eating, and eventually left. The humility of the possum when hit with the water was just too much for my mil.

LOL, just thought of something, maybe he is stunned by the contents of said diaper and can't move yet? LOL

I would call the animal control officer. In our neck of the US ....we have to worry about rabies and they do come in all animals.
He is cute though

Maybe get some food, bread or something, and make a trail of it leading from him off the porch. Maybe if he's hungry he'll follow the trail of food and go on about his merry way when he's done.

Good thing he isn't at our house. Lauri would be wanting to pick him up. The woman is fearless with animals

Call Animal Control in case it has rabies. You wouldn't want to feed it as that would just make it keep coming back.

These guys are frequent visitors to our yard (we have a tortoise preserve behind our house and many live in those woods).

You can try shoeing him off, if he hisses, it really doesn't mean anything. Just keep trying. They CAN get rabies, but it's unusal, they are marsupials (?). Their body temps are low, making it hard to harbour rabies.

They are great for insect and sometimes rodent control.

Awww! He's so cute! I agree he does look like a baby. Is it possible he is cornered and doesn't know how to get away? Maybe you could somehow make more room for him to walk away, or put some other object near the ledge he is so he can jump down more easily.

Combine that with the trail of food idea and hopefully he'll be gone in no time!

Poor thing..he does look young. Oppossums do not CHARGE people! :rotfl:
I'd call a wildlife org. too is he isn't moving soon.

He's ADORABLE!! I say throw some food his way and then he will mosey on away...

We had one in our garage a few years ago. It hid behind some things and scared the wits out of my husband when he moved something and saw it. We couldn't get it to leave so we called animal control. This woman came with the biggest leather gloves I've ever seen. She picked it up, put it in a cage in her truck and took it away. She said she would release it into the wildlife reservation near our home.
