EWP group?

Hi all! I am here for my last long lunch of the week... Starting next week, I will be required to put in four hours of overtime so there go four of my lunches... or something like that. I haven't decided how I will do it, but I should have a break or two that I can pop in to say hi on during the work day... otherwise I'll be here mostly in evenings. I am not looking forward to this as I enjoy my relaxation here, but oh well. I am looking forward to the overtime pay though as it would be excellent to get that much more money on a regular basis.

Rider :bounce: :bounce: CONGRATS ON YOUR 500 Posts!!! :bounce: :bounce: That is wonderful that you would choose here to post you 500th post. I feel honored.

SG, if you do ever come to Columbus for an exteded visit, please let me know. I would be more than happy to meet with you. I have never been to COSI myself and I do have two tickets to the zoo I need to use, so I'd be happy to be able to meet one of the fellow EWP Groupies :D

You know it is very interesting to read everyone's history of where they stayed. My first trip, I was very young, I was only five but I remember it quite well. We stayed at the campground... EPCOT was being built and they had the monorail going from the TTC to EPCOT and you could see the unfinished Spaceship Earth. Our second trip (one year later) was us staying at the Club Villas. We had nine people in one van and we all drove donw (all family) and stayed there. The bus system then was very different from the way it is now. You had to get on buses with different colored flags to take you from point A to B. It was very confusing. Then we finally stayed at the Poly. I was nine... it was an amazing stay. So then the next trip was at CBR, and I loved it as I thought the cheap price (about $100/night then) would let us go back more often :) I was afraid of the buses as I remembered the old bus system. I was truly pleasantly surprised. I do think that the resort was a little big and I never did find the "main pool" but it was a wonderful trip. Next came staying at the Hotel Royal Plaza. I went with my marching band and we had no choice, but it was a good hotel. The bus service was good and that was when early morning entry applied to ALL parks, one hour early every day. That was excellent and no one was at the parks that first hour. When we went to plan the next trip, I was ready to stay at the All Stars (they were finally available for stay) but my dad said no way to that and we opted for the new Coronado Springs. It supposedly is a bigger resort than CBR but I cannot see it. I though the layout was excellent and it was a very good themed resort! So when I finally got Luis to go to WDW with me, I showed him PO for our stay. I said we are either staying at PO or a deluxe resort. I'm not sure why or how we really decided to pick the Poly but we did. I remember loving the resort but we were thinking of trying something new. So unbeknownst to Luis I upped our room from a standard view to concierge lagoon view :D I do not regret doing that ever! The only problem is that it makes it really hard for us to go back. I thought the value resorts were a great thing, but I am not sure I will ever get to try them. I am also not sure I will ever want to go to anywhere but the Poly. My sister is dying to stay at the Contemporary and hints at wanting to stay at the GF, but I don't know.

Well we did buy furniture. We got exactly what we wanted and all is going to be delivered on the 8th (with our fridge). The only thing that was back ordered was the ottoman for the chair so I cannot complain at all. So today Luis and my dad (who is on vacation) are moving things into our new home. We won't be living there for two weeks, which we both want to do that way. So now we move. If it stops raining, we can move our one queen mattress to the house as well.

Well I need to get back to some other things. I hope all is well with everyone and I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!!

Helenabear, you and Luis are so very lucky to be able to have the luxury of moving a bit at a time over the next two weeks and then be able to just close the door on one home and walk into a fully furnished and ready to go new home. Wow!!

I remember the buses with the colored flags. I bet the bus drivers went nuts as everyone always was asking where did the bus go? My DH still does that. I keep telling him to read the signs on the side of the bus but he gets antsy.

I think if I won the lottery or came into some extra money I would probably choose to stay at the Institute (formerly Club Villas) again out of all the places we had stayed so far. Would be fun to try some of the other places sometimes but now that we are retired we have to be careful. We are not rich nor are we poor but we have always been a one income family and I spent my time and energy making the $$$'s stretch so I feel I earned my way through the years. Always wanted to work as I love office type work but my DH is older and is firmly against that. We would have had 2 pensions etc. if I had had my way. Being a SAHM can be a very hard job, especially since society does not seem to value it much. I did enjoy being there for all my children's milestones and was able to do some things for other kids as well but for myself I would have enjoyed being out and about. I love people.

We were at Epcot, MGM and AK all the first year they opened. I read posts where they complain about the new parks not having so very many attractions but I enjoy being there at the beginning so I can appreciate how far they have come in later years. It must be exciting to be able to remember Spaceship Earth when it was a mere skeleton of itself.

Please come by when you get a chance and I hope the overtime lasts as long or as short as you want it. Maybe Luis will have a nice meal waiting for you when you return home from those long days? It would be a nice touch. Hope he can cook. My DH literally cannot make a bologna sandwich. Helpless or hopeless? (grin)

I had better go fix some lunch and figure out what I can fix for dinner for that finicky grandson of mine. He eats so many chicken nuggets that he is starting to grow pin feathers!

SG brought up a neat question. Where would you stay if you won the lottery. I would probably check out a few of the resorts for a night or two that my sister thought of trying or something like that, then I would spend a nice long week at the Poly concierge lagoon view. Then I'd take the rest of the money and pay off our house, cars & student loans then invest the rest nicely so I could go back every year :D

How is everyone doing this morning? We are procrastinating from moving stuff and Luis is still in bed... so I may go over to the house and do some cleaning myself. It doesn't need a lot but since I have scratches from the cats I have played with recently I think I will need some good rubber gloves first (otherwise it might hurt too much). It is a beautiful weekend here so I will open up a ton of windows as there is some stale smelling air in the rooms. We have some air purifiers from Sharper Image that I will take over as well. I can live with out them for a few days :D

SG, Luis can cook but he does not. He thinks I do a better job of cooking than he does and I don't mind doing it. He cleans afterwards. But when I got home yesterday, he was standing at the door waiting for me... I thought that was really cute.

Well as much as I love it hear, I need to get cracking. I hope everyone has a wonderful day & weekend. SG, let us know how the meet went!

:waves to all her EWP buddies!!:

Just popping in to say hi and catch up on the latest.

All the best in your new home Elaine and by all means wear rubber gloves. I have very dry skin and have to but with little scratches, you should protect yourself.

Linda, glad you got things worked out with the 'puter.
Congrats on the 500th post Rider!

Janet you brave woman scuba-diving in that bacteria-infested Seven Seas Lagoon......of course with Fabio along, it would make things a little better. I wonder what kind of interesting stuff you would find at the bottom there? I guess I will have to watch the video to find out.

jstmee is your DH back from Ohio yet? My DH used to travel a lot, glad he doesn't have to now.

bashful, how are things on the West Coast? My SIL (affectionately nicknamed that "Wicked Witch of the West"...well maybe not so affectionately!) :\ is here visiting from Penticton. You might know her, she wears a tall pointy black hat and rides a broom? ;) BAD Cathy!!

Well ladies, just wanted to say hi and hope you are all well. I am leaving 2 weeks today to do a 4-night cruise on the Disney Magic (Wonder is in drydock). Taking the kidlets and my Mom, DH and I had planned on doing the 7 night cruise on the 29th before I won this 4-night trip. I can't wait for the break!!

Enjoy the long weekend friends!!

Hi Everyone!

Hope that you're all having a great weekend!

Did anyone else notice that the Boards were down, yesterday? Or was something just wrong with my computer?! I kept trying to check the "Suite" to see if SG had posted any pictures from her DIS Meet, but I couldn't get in! :(

How did the DIS Meet go, SG? I can't wait to hear about it! And how has the rest of your weekend been? Yes, my mother and I had lots of great times at WDW together and some very special memories. Too bad that we're now going on 3 months of her not talking to me! Oh well - I'm pretty much used to it, now. Maybe it's like the old saying "if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all".....I would rather have her not talking to me than picking apart and criticizing all of the plans that Frank and I are making for the wedding, for his moving in, etc. Well, like I said, Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur are coming - maybe she will decide to break down and talk to me, then.

And thanks for helping the guys arrange that great dance routine for me, SG! That was a wonderful treat! They definitely deserve the rest of the weekend off after all that hard work! :)

It's neat to hear about everyone's experiences at the different resorts! Although there are lots of great things about the Contemporary, and I also enjoyed staying at the Golf Resort (more quiet and "removed" than the other MK resorts), I am very partial and attached to the Poly. Even though it is expensive to stay there, I figure that we only take one real vacation per year (and I only started doing that recently), so might as well do it the way that we really want to do it and save up for it! If I won the lottery, aside from paying off my house and Frank's car and putting money away for savings (all the "responsible stuff"!), I would buy into DVC, so that we could go to WDW more frequently, and / or in terms of hotels, I would always want to stay at the Poly! I've never done concierge, but I understand that it is amazing. We always stay in the Samoa longhouse - very conveniently located - between the two pools, not far from the Great Ceremonial House or the waterfront. And since Frank proposed to me there, I don't know that we would ever stay in any other building there! Boy, talking about all of this, I really cannot wait to get back down there! Oh well - just 260-something days to go! :) Spending time with all of you in the Suite and corresponding with my friend who works there really helps me get through these days until we can get back down to WDW!

How's the moving going, Helenabear? That's great that you were able to get all of your furniture and slowly begin moving things into your house! That's definitely the way to do it. I keep encouraging Frank to start bringing his things to my house, so that we don't get totally overwhelmed when the moving truck comes with the majority of his things in October. But our company (we work for Merrill Lynch) is paying for the movers (as the majority of the NJ operations are moving to another part of the state, and ML is paying for employees to move closer. Since I live somewhat closer to the new site than Frank does now, ML is paying for his move into my house.), the movers will be packing up his things. So, there isn't very much that he can bring over earlier. I'm trying to make as much space as I can in my house, in anticipation of his various boxes and things arriving. And I want to have as little stress about that as possible, during the actual moving time, so that we can concentrate our energies towards "introducing" his 2 cats to my 4. UGH - I'm getting anxious just thinking about it! Anyway, I'm digressing, as usual. I hope that everything is going well, Helenabear, and that you're getting a lot accomplished! I can relate to the possibility of not being able to check into the Suite during the day time, any more. It seems that every time I try to "sneak on line" during work to make a quick post, my boss inevitably comes by - even when I'm just eating lunch at my desk! She never says anything, but I'm afraid that one day she will, so I will try to be a good girl and only post either before or after work! :(

Have a wonderful time on your cruise, Webmaster CC! And please pop in and tell us all about it, when you have a chance, when you get back! I'm sure that you will have an amazing time!

Well, I'd probably better start moving, now. We're going to a BBQ at the home of Frank's sister's business partner a little later, and I haven't even taken a shower yet! Also, Frank is being extremely kind and is now outside pulling weeds behind the house (as I am petrified to go back there after THE GREAT POISON IVY INCIDENT), so I feel the need to do something "productive", too........what, I don't know, but I'll think of something! :)

Hope that you're all having a great weekend! See ya soon! :)

Good going, WMCathy. Will this be your first Disney cruise? We went way back when it was Premier(?). It was pretty nice but cruises just aren't my thing but maybe a Disney one would be? Have to give that some thought. Please give us a trip report when you return. One good thing about your WWW of a SIL is that she lives far away. I have a DsD who lives in Ca. and it is a blessing. Sigh. As far as seeing Janets vidoe goes I am afraid that I will have to check your ID as it is not G rated. Not bad mind you just interesting. Our Janet has talent and class.

Yesterday was a blast. I went to the Indy meet and got to meet Serena, nativetxn, Dan Murphy, Wheelsie and so many others that my mind is swimming. I am mostly deaf so it was difficult for me to interact with a lot of people unless they were right by me. Wheelsie, bless her heart, insisted I sit with her and her DH and made my day so much greater. We were tickled to find out that we would all be at WDW together in November so they have offered to give us a tour of US. I just may have to adopt that girl. Am not sure I will be able to keep up with her as she has more energy than a nuclear power plant! LOL Wheelsie handed out packets of PD and Dan gave us all Chicago Mickey's. The one on my purse was looking a bit tired and I now have 3 hanging there, I stole my DH's. He added elk to his list of odd things he has eaten so he was a happy camper. Had french fries made from corn . Had about 6 different dipping sauces to go with it. I like things I don't cook at home.

HelenaB, yep, loves hurts doesn't it? The scratches are worth it for the love you get from your little friends tho. I don't know how you are going to get all the moving done and work all that OT. Of course, you have youth on your side. LOL Please stock up on plenty of film so we can see your new abode. I have serious picture taking to do also and try to remember how to use my scanner.

Bashful must be busy welcoming her wandering DH home but I am sure she will be by soon to tell us what she has been up to.

I have been thinking of where I woujld stay if money were no object and I need some input from those of you with more experience than I do. I would like a room with a king bed, whirlpool for DH, a comfortable seating area, small kitchen area (big enough for snacks and drinks but not big enough for me to have to actually cook, variety of sit down restaurants available on site, evening entertainment, computer access, laundry service (no laundramats for the nouvo riche) room service, unlimited Fastpasses (hey, dream big), private shuttle service and of course a balcony overlooking the EWP. Might be the only place we can get this kind of service is here!!! Sure glad we have this until we can manage to make it a reality. Just thought of a way to make it come true. If we become huge celebrities and get asked to the the narrator at the Processional it would work? Probably a better chance of that than winning the lottery?

Getting ready to go to the movies with my grands so I had better close and get in gear. Hope you are all enjoying beautiful weather and pleasant company this fine holiday weekend.

Slightly Goofy

WOW - how did you do that, SG? I checked to see if you were on The DIS when I last posted, and you weren't, and then I just checked back in the Suite to see if anyone had posted, and you did! Glad to hear that you had a great time at the DIS Meet and got to meet so many great people! Did anyone take pictures? I sure hope so! I'm sure that it was a lot of fun! And that's so neat that you ate french fries made of CORN!

OK - time to sign off and do that responsible stuff that I'm still procrastinating about, now!

Once again, have a great weekend, Everyone! :)

Dear Rider

What happened was I was writing my post when company came by and when they left I signed off and clicked and went back to check my messages and you had slipped in. LOl Sorry I missed you. I have promised to check in on a chat one of these days and maybe we can meet up?

Slightly Goofy and Out the Door

Good evening everyone!

Thought you might like to be forewarned about these very dangerous viruses that might attack at any time.

POLITICALLY CORRECT VIRUS: Never calls itself a "virus," but instead refers to itself as an "electronic microorganism."

STAR TREK VIRUS: Invades your system in places where no virus has gone before.

HEALTH CARE VIRUS: Test your system for a day, finds nothing wrong, and sends you a bill for $4,500.

RIGHT TO LIFE VIRUS: Won't allow you to delete a file, regardless of how old it is. If you attempt to erase a file, it requires you to first see a counselor about possible alternatives.

OPRAH WINFREY VIRUS: Your 200MB hard drive suddenly shrinks to 80MB, and then slowly expands back to 200MB.

TEXAS VIRUS: Makes sure that it's bigger than any other file.

AT&T VIRUS: Every three minutes it tells you what great service you are getting.

THE MCI VIRUS: Every three minutes it reminds you that you're paying too much for the AT&T virus.

TED TURNER VIRUS: Colorizes your monochrome monitor.

ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER VIRUS: Terminates and stays resident. It'll be back.

GOVERNMENT ECONOMIST VIRUS: Nothing works, but all your diagnostic software says everything is fine.

ADAM AND EVE VIRUS: Takes a couple of bytes out of your Apple.

NEW WORLD ORDER VIRUS: Probably harmless, but it makes a lot of people really mad just thinking about it.

FEDERAL BUREAUCRAT VIRUS: Divides your hard disk into hundreds of little units, each of which does practically nothing, but all of which claim to be the most important part of the computer.

MICHAEL JACKSON VIRUS: Hard to identify because it is constantly altering its appearance. This virus won't harm your PC, but it will trash your car.

CONGRESSIONAL VIRUS: The computer locks up, screen splits eratically with a message appearing on each half blaming the other side for the problem.

AIRLINE VIRUS: You're in Dallas, but your data is in Singapore.

PBS VIRUS: Your PC stops every few minutes to ask for money.

ELVIS VIRUS: Your computer gets fat, slow, and lazy and then self destructs, only to resurface at shopping malls and service stations across rural America.

OLLIE NORTH VIRUS: Turns your printer into a document shredder.

NIKE VIRUS: Just Does It!

SEARS VIRUS: Your data won't appear unless you buy new cables, power supply, and a set of shocks.

FREUDIAN VIRUS: Your computer becomes obsessed with marrying its own motherboard.

JIMMY HOFFA VIRUS: Nobody can find it.

KEVORKIAN VIRUS: Helps your computer shut down whenever it wants to.

GEORGE BUSH VIRUS: It starts by boldly stating, "Read my test.... no new files!" on the screen, proceeds to fill up all the free space on your hard drive with new files, then blames it on the Congressional Virus (see above).

The virus warnings are very cute, SG! :)

Sorry that I missed you, too! I'm sure that we will catch each other on line, one of these days when we are "stopping by the Suite"! What movie did you see with your grandchildren? I haven't seen a movie in a theater since we saw "Planet of the Apes", several weeks ago. I did rent "Pay it Forward" on Friday night, though, and that was very good!

Hope that everyone is out and enjoying this beautiful weekend! We had a nice time at the BBQ yesterday. Frank's sister has some friends from New Zealand visiting and staying with her for a month, so she brought them along. They were very nice and interesting to talk to! The hosts of the party are in a band, and the band played several sets yesterday, and it was fun to listen to them.

Frank is still sleeping, now. Today we'll probably work on putting away the three large bags of miscellaneous stuff that he brought over (included in one of the bags are 2 huge Disney Grams which I sent him!), and maybe visit his sister and her houseguests for awhile.

In the mean time, let's head over to Chef Mickey's for breakfast!

Have a great Labor Day, Everyone! :)

Dear Rider

I have a New Zealander friend also. She is on the trivia forum and is a neat person. I enjoy meeting people from different countries and learning about the ways we are similar and the ways we differ. Have been searching my whole life for what a 'normal' life is. Now that I have attained close to middle age I have found out that there is no such thing as 'normal' but am continuing the research to just plain learn more about other people.

It sounds as if you are having a lovely weekend and so interesting. We went to see "Shreck" and the boys were not enthused but with the 'fart' jokes and such they soon were giggling up a storm. Grandma roared at the Disney digs and in general there was something for everyone. Have to admit I was a bit disturbed at the ending where the princess reveals her 'big' secret tho. Fat does not equal ugly nor lazy IM(large)HO. (grin) I had not gotten to go to a movie with the boys since the Star Wars sequel came out years ago. It was just sort of a fluke as I had mentioned we were going to see "Shreck" and DD said they were going also. I had a lapful of boy most of the movie and got great hugs when we parted. They wanted to come home with me. We watched "Pay It Forward" recently also and enjoyed it. One of my favorite movies I have seen in the last few years is "The Full Monty". It was very touching, sweet, sad, funny etc.

I am spending the day making batches of stuffed peppers, some for the freezer and staining some wood in my closet and cleaning the closet. Such fun. Would be easier if my DH did some too but since he is totally inept (and proud of it) I get to do the household upkeep and repair and the cooking and cleaning. Thank heaven for the suite. I just love having a place where I can go where I get waited on. LOL

I have to go over to Innovations to check out the new exhibit by Pioneer. I hear it is quite interesting. You all may find it interesting as it is a Virtual Resort. La Cellier for lunch later?

Hi everyone! I am sorry if I am not too talkative today but I am finally resting from this weekend. We moved a lot more than I thought we would and the cats are getting kind of anxious I think about seeing all this stuff gone and then we disappear for hours. We have two beds, a dresser, a love seat, chair & ottoman, entertainment system & a few dining room chairs moved. So we are a head of schedule now I think. Everything we have moved is set up (with the exception of a box of my books... we need to move some other things first for me to put them in). Next Saturday we have our new fridge and our new furniture so that will be nice. Luis is looking to hire some professionals to move our big things.

SG, I loved the viruses. They were cute. It sounds like you had a great time at the meet as well. I keep hoping we can pull one together for Columbus, but it never seems to happen...

Well I need to sit here and relax for a while. I hope everyone had a great weekend!

Hi all....we are having a busy holiday weekend. Just wanted to pop in and say hi to you all and to say that I hope you are having a good weekend.

Hi everyone! I hope everyone is recovering from the busy weekend we all had! I needed to get a quick break from it all and just grab a lemonade and some cookies and enjoy the quiet. There is nothing like watching the Seven Seas Lagoon in the morning before the business of the day comes around. It's quite a pleasant experience to have!

Poor Luis is getting down on himself. He was thinking last night that he might not be good enough for a job and that's why he's not getting any call backs. I think he needs to take a decent job to feel better about himself and even if it is only temporary, I think he needs to feel like he is worth something.

Right now we are trying to decide on who to move us. We can either spend about $150 and have someone move our last big things, or we can spend $60 and do it ourselves. Which would you pick?

Well I should get back to work :( I hope everyone is having a great day!

Good morning Helenabear

I would go for the pros if at all possible. If they are really good and not slock jocks tho. If they will go pick it all up and put it in place it is worth the few extra dollars IMHO rather than wear yourselves out and possibly even get injured. Poor Luis does not need physical injury on top of everything else. I am sorry this is so rough on him. It really has been a very short time since he lost his job but it must feel like ages. Men are so tied up in what they do that it is very hard on them when they don't have a job. My DH is doing just fine being retired but then he is quite a bit lazy. It was rough getting him to go to work at all but he did enjoy the salary. LOL Just keep reminding Luis that if a bad job came up and he took it he might have missed out on something great. Maybe he could sign up to work at some very temporary job just to have something to do. It always seems easier to get a job when you already have one. He could even try out something new just to see how he likes it if it is just for a few weeks. I used to work temp jobs years ago when I was a single parent. I needed the flexibility as I had 2 children with health problems. It can be sort of fun and if you get a job you don't like you won't be there long anyway. The upside is that sometimes a temp job can turn out to be permanent. You get to check them out while they check you out. Win, win for eveyone. Now granted this was over 30 years ago when I did all this so thngs might have changed some. Tell Luis to come over to the suite and get some PD to take home with him and we will all be his biggest cheerleaders. RAh, rah, sis, boom, bah! Go Luis!!!!!!!!

My youngest grandson starts school today. He is 4 and rearing to go. My DD and himself dropped by this morning. We got our picture taken, exchanged hugs, visited the canteloupes and went in to surprise Granddad with a wake up call. Great way to start the day.

Has anyone come up with the perfect resort for myself and DH to stay at when we win the lottery? I met someone over the weekend that got to visit the 333 club so I think we should go over and check that out one of these evenings. They posted the pictures of the Indy meet and I like the picture of me that has most of me hidden under the table. LOL (grin)

Slightly Goofy

Hey Slightly Goofy! So glad that you mentioned that Dan had posted those pictures from the DIS Meet that you attended - it was great to finally see photos of yourself and your DH - you both look great!!!! It looks like everyone was having so much fun! Lots of good luck to your grandson on his first day of school - that is so exciting! And that's so nice that your DD brought him over to see you and your DH before he left for his new adventure! I also saw "Shrek" and thought that it was cute! And I agree with you - while on the one hand, I think that the end of the film sent a positive message ("it's not what you look like on the outside that counts"....) at the same time, it did send a derrogatory message about "larger" people (ie: fat, lazy, sloppy, etc.). They seem to do that a lot in children's films and TV shows, for some reason - I guess they think that "fat people" are humorous and buffoon-like, or something. I think it's important that parents teach their children the right and fair way to think about all people, in all shapes, sizes, and colors, so that they will be able to be more sensitive and understanding when they see those things on TV, or hear other kids talking, etc.

And it sounds like you are making some great moving progress, Helenabear! It sounds like you really took care of a lot of things, over the weekend! I'm sure that everything is falling into place, now! I agree with Slightly Goofy - I would pay the bit of extra money to hire the movers to take the rest of your things. First and foremost, they are trained to know how to lift things - you don't want to risk hurting your backs or pulling muscles. Plus, they can assemble and disassemble things and set them up in your house. And they know how to get things in and out without scratching walls, etc. Even though it would be a little more expensive, I think that you should go with the movers, if you can! I'm sorry to hear that Luis is getting down on himself! :( I wish that he didn't feel that way! :( Unfortunately, I know many people who are in the same position as he, and they are beginning to feel that way, too. It's just really tough out there. I agree with SG, once again - perhaps if he took on a temp job, it would keep him busy and keep his mind off of "things", as he is waiting to hear back from some of the places where he's applied. Plus, he may find that he enjoys the company to which he is assigned, and might even wind up finding a permanent position there! Maybe that's something that he would consider. In the mean time, I'm sure that you and the kitties are doing a good job of cheering him up! And I'm sure that he's really excited about your new home, too!

Nice to hear from you, Bashful64! Hope that you're having a nice week! :)

I don't know if I'd mentioned, but a few days ago, a lady from WDW called and left a message on my home answering machine. She said that she wanted to discuss the letters I had written (to various WDW managers), after we had returned from "the World" in June. I was really excited to hear from her - I always love having an opportunity to talk about WDW....especially with someone who works there! Well, she called back last night, and she and I spoke for almost 2 hours! It turns out that she is representative of the Guest Communications area, which is the area that personally responds to guest comments and concerns. We had a really nice conversation, and I was able to pay compliments to some of the CM's whose names I had inadvertantly left out of the letters that I had written, too.

Well, here I am, doing exactly what I promised myself I would not do.....posting while at work! But I couldn't help myself! Plus, I need a break. As it turns out, as understaffed as we are.....now my boss is not well (emotionally exhausted and physically ill - possibly as a result).....so she is taking a leave of absence for an indefinite period of time......thereby sort of leaving me in charge! UGH. I am in no way equipped to run what is left of our group - there is so much "stuff" that I am not familiar with, nor do I WANT to be "in charge". It's such a disaster - first everyone quits or gets laid off or fired, now we have no manager, and we STILL don't have enough people to do all that we have to do! Oh well - we'll carry on somehow, I guess! It's times like these that I REALLY just want to pick up my life, move to the greater Orlando area, and beg WDW for a job!!!!

Hope that everyone had a great weekend! Have a nice day, and see you back at the Suite later on, so that we can meet up before our IllumiNations Cruise! :)

Rider, you made my day. I don't believe I have ever had anyone agree with me quite so much. Being a mother, I am not that smart. It all started when my children began to talk. LOL

I loved Shreck right up until the princess revealed her 'horrible' secret. If the worst thing anyone can say about me is that I am fat I will die a happy woman. I found the secret to being happy with your size. I married a man who likes me just the way I am. Simple, shame I did not think of that the first time around. I cannot blame people who don't 'like' fat people tho as I used to feel the same about skinny people. I figured they would not like me so I avoided them. I am proud to say that I have friends of every single size, shape, color, religion and economic status now. What changed my life was having my stomach stapled. I regained every single pound I lost and often joke that the only thing I lost was the $7,000 for the surgery. I almost died and it sure changed my outlook fast. I learned how to drive, became the outspoken 'broad' that I am now and found out that my demeanor was more to blame for the way people treated me before than the people themselves. I am one sassy lassy now and very proud of it. Worth almost dying for too!!!

I am glad you looked up the pictures. Dan Murphy did a great job and was so wonderful to everyone. Being hearing impaired being in crowds is difficult for me. Bless Wheelsie and her DH who took me under their wing and kept me on track. I got lost trying to meet up with them at the Disney Store. Very embarrassing.

I am so happy that Disney called you for input. I truly believe that the members of this thread are so knowledgeable about WDW and very able to give constructive criticism. I would be interested in hearing what you commented on.

Bashful, Helena, WMCathy, Janet (hope I am not forgetting anyone) I hope you all had a wonderful day today and we are looking forward to our next adventure.

Slightly Goofy

Linda, it is great to put a face to your name! I was so happy to see how you guys look! Now I can picture you doing your table with and taking care of cute kids and then picturing your DH while he is retired ;) You know, I never did see Shreck. I wasn't too keen on it for some reason and if someone could be so kind as to tell me what the big secret was at the end. I too don't like it when people imply that big people are lazy or something. It doesn't matter as long as you are happy with yourself and if you are happy then that's great! I don't like anything that makes fun of another group so I eliminate a lot of movies just by seeing previews. Like that Bubble Boy movie... ick! How much more demeaning can one get?

Well we did decide to go with the movers. We decided to move a couple of things ourselves but they are moving the VERY big things that two people cannot easily move themselves. So it will be a hair more than $100 and that is fine with us. The things we decided to move ourselves was a chest of drawers (not very big) and our bed (completely collapseable), so that took some $$ off the bill.

Luis is doing much better now. He is going to look for a temp job or a job he can get out easily. It will "keep him off the streets" and make him feel much better. He just had one day of 'distress' and then he was fine. He doesn't dwell on things much so that is good. I wish I could let pain go so quickly ;)

I must say again how much I love coming here... you guys seem to have a great out look on life and are the kind of people I love to hang out with. Non-judgemental. I may have my opinions about people and things but I surely don't expect my friends too... when I am in an ornrey mood, I love getting my diverse group of friends together and have a good friendly debate... it is fun and for those weirdos like myself who love to think things out and get all 'intellectual' it is a world of fun. Anyway... I was a little upset by a thread I read today here... actually not here but the words some were saying about others behind their backs on another board... it was awful! It almost made me cry that people said such nasty things behind our backs... I guess I am over that now.

Well Luis' parents called so I have to go talk with them. I wish I could get them to come visit sometime especially now that we don't know what Luis' vacation schedule will be like. Then again, I kind of look forward to having Christmas at MY HOUSE :D Anyway that is a whole other story for another time. I hope you all are having a great day and I will be glad to join for the IllumiNations Cruise!

I'm baaaack.......I was among the missing for awhile, I just spent the past hour reading the past posts, I need to keep up more often. Takes too long to catch up on all the news.

Rider, you are going to have your hands full with the cats. I only have one and I know what it's like for another animal to come into our house. Whew.

Helenabear, I've held many jobs and in between jobs, I've always gotten temp jobs, and usually, they like me and want to hire me. It's a great way to get into the door of a company. Hope the move is going well. I have 4 children, so in between kids, I would get temp jobs, heeee and get pregnant again.

SG, congrats on sticking up for the no cosigning stuff. It's a hard decision to make, or is it, but it's good you could stick to your guns.

I am having a last minute garage sale so that we'll be able to eat while down in WDW, lol. Too much to do and no time to do it in. All the kids are in school now. So, I'm back to my normal routine so to speak. Excerise in the am....unless I can find a reason not to go, and house cleaning.

About the movie Shrek, I agree with all the opinions. I am a very large woman myself, however, I am comforable with myself and very athletic. I'd like to be lighter so my back wouldn't take such a beating, but when I ready that will happen.

Ah, speaking of weight, my friend just called, and off to breakfast we go, hi ho hi ho it's so good to be back. I'm going to add the avator also when I get a chance to figure how. bye all

Hey Everyone!

How are you all doing? How are your weekends going?

I've been keeping busy, working on my house, doing more organizing, etc. Tomorrow, Frank and I are going to see "The Producers" on Broadway - can't wait! Unfortunately, we know that Matthew Broderick will not be in tomorrow's performance because he is on vacation(Telecharge called to let us know, in case we wanted a refund). But that's all right - I have already seen him live on stage once. As much as it would have been neat to see him again, I'm sure that the show will be great! I'm really looking forward to seeing Nathan Lane! Some friends of mine went to see the show a few weeks ago and said that Mel Brooks showed up and did a "cameo" - maybe he will be there again, tomorrow!

I also felt kind of uncomfortable with some of the inferences in "Shrek", SG. Especially since not only was the princess's transformation an issue, but Shrek, himself, was also depicted as a "fat, lazy, slob" (albeit an endearing one!). The "secret", Helenabear, is that the princess (the one shown in the commercials, voiced by Cameron Diaz) had a secret all along, which she hid from the other main characters until the end of the film - at sundown, she turned "ugly". But there really wasn't very much that was "ugly" about her, with the exception of the fact that she was plumper and her hair was slightly messed up. I think that the writers of the screenplay probably intended for audiences to get the message that it doesn't matter what you look like, it's the sort of person you are that really "counts". But at the same time, they inadvertantly wound up sending a conflicting message, by implying that the princess had reason to be ashamed of her "true self". And I agree with you, Heleabear - I would never see that "Bubble Boy" movie - the commercials bother me, also!

You have a wonderful and amazing attitude, SG! And you look fantastic and happy and are obviously very confident and happy with yourself! I, too, have learned through the years that there are many worse things that someone could call me than "fat" and that there were many times when I was a lot less happy than I am at my current weight when I happened to have been "thinner". Don't get me wrong - I would like to be healthy and could stand to lose a few pounds from that perspective, but I refuse to ever starve myself to death again, or torture myself about eating this or that. Life is too short to be concerned with things like those. I'm sorry that you had a bad experience with stomach stapling, SG. It sounds like the aftermath was very frightening and unpleasant. Thank God you are the healthy, happy, great person whom you are and that you recovered and moved past it!

Hi Jstmee! Are you beginning to get ready for your WDW trip? How are your children enjoying school, so far? Glad to hear that your schedule has calmed down a bit and great to hear from you!

And glad to hear that Luis is feeling better, Helenabear! I'm sure that he will find a great temp job and will soon have a completely different outlook on his job situation! How did the rest of your move go? (the movers were coming today, weren't they? Or am I losing my mind and remembering incorrectly??) You're probably up to your ears in boxes and unpacking! How are the kitties adjusting and settling in to their new home? I remember how mine hid behind the boxes and refused to move, when I first moved into my house - I bet that Frank's cats will be the same way when they move in, next month! But they adjust and settle in quickly and are soon enjoying exploring their new surroundings and finding new favorite places to sleep! Can't wait to see more pictures, when you're all settled in!

I'm sorry to hear that you ran into a thread where people were saying unkind things. I'm surprised that people would behave that way on The DIS - I've never seen anything like that before, here. Well, we know that we have eachother, here in the Suite, and we are lucky to have found such wonderful on-line friends with whom to share our lives and experiences! I'm so happy that we can all get together and "talk", as we do here!

Well, time for dinner! Hope that you're all having a great weekend! :)
