EWP group?

Sorry guys I have been MIA. I have been snowed under with work in Rl but I wanted to wish Slightly Goofy a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

I will return (hopefully tomorrow)

IASW _ Seen it - why I have one of course!! I could not even think about joing the EWP party if I did not own this one. I would be most happy to look for one for your very own when I skip to out of the room to attend the pin bash in 13 days!!

A mickey jacuzzi - how wonderful. I can't think of anything more relaxing than sipping my Pina and sitting in Mickey's ear.

Hope that you had a wonderful day, SlightlyGoofy! Can't wait to hear all about it!

TiggersMom - do you really think that there might be some available EWP pins out there? If so, would you have any idea how I might buy one? Any assistance or direction that you might be able to provide would be greatly appreciated! There are so few "souvenirs" of the EWP, that when I heard about and ultimately saw a picture of that pin (thanks to the folks on the Collectors' Board), I really wanted to find one! I have tried to contain myself when it comes to collecting pins - I am a big collector of various things, but I have tried to stay away from the pins 'cause I know that I would drive myself completely crazy trying to collect them all, if I got involved! I saw so many great ones at WDW, last month, but I exercised restraint! The EWP pin would be an exception, though! :)

Helenabear - You are very kind to want to help me get over my irrational fear of Splash Mountain! I have been on many flumes and flume-type rides before, but I have read many times that Splash Mountain has THE STEEPEST DROP OF ANY FLUME IN THE U.S. ....... and that thought, alone, scares the #$%& out of me! I really would like to see the inside of the attraction, though! And I have heard about the little "FSU" gopher! I will have to think about it some more........maybe we can ride BTM a few times, to get me ready for it, OK? Thank you for your sensitivity to my irrational fear! :)

Anyone want to join me for a nice pot of 100% Kona coffee at the Kona Cafe? Then, come watch as Helenabear valiantly attempts to get me on to Splash Mountain! :)

Have a nice day!:)

Whew, I am all worn out. At this rate I may not live until my next birthday. You guys are so awesome and I surely do appreciate all the kind wishes and the banner. Such talented people on here.

Tigersmom, wouldn't it be great if you or someone else could find us a source for EWP pins? I don't collect pins but I just might get this one as it would be so special and remind me of you all. You were close on my age. I say I am 'plenty one". Actually I am 53 but since my DH is 67 I still feel younger than springtime. LOL

Rider, I drink tea and not coffee and am far too chicken to ride any flume rides but would be willing to join you in cheering Helanabear on as she takes her inaugaral ride on Splash Mountain. If you should happen to see one of our fabulous conceirges, do you think it might be possible to arrange a special ride on SM for us chickens? I would love to see the inside and Brer Rabbit and all (Have seen them on my video) but DO NOT want to see the top of the flume. They could just drop us off inside and we could wander around and get a close up view of the scenery before casually taking an easier and less heart thumping ride down. You are such a doll for thinking to bring my wonderful grands to join me here. They are Disney nuts also and were so thrilled to be able to make the quick trip. An empty grandma lap is a terrible waste. I often allow youngsters to stand in front of me at parades and such after I have held a place for hours at times. If their parents agree and they are interested they can enjoy the padded comfort of my lap also.

Janet, how in the world did you know that one of my favorite wishes in the whole world is to own a Wurletizer jukebox. And you put in a great supply of my favorite music also. Hope you all enjoy Motown, DoWop, 50's and 60's rock and roll. Did not get to listen to it when I was young so I am enjoying it in my second childhood. (grin) I had just envisioned a wall of entertainment equipment but as usual you have outdone my meager efforts. I am a gadget junkie and I am drooling over all our new toys. Hope I don't short anything out. BTW, you picked well in chosing me to retrain your DD. I am the oldest of 8 children and have raised far more than the 2 I gave birth to. 4-H leader and school volunteer help to round out my child rearing credits. Thanks to Miss Clairol I do not show too many battlescars from my efforts. I have a feeling that you DD is just wonderful and needs very little in the way of adjusting though. She can come visit Aunt SG someday and I will show her the wonders of rural life. You have to come with her though so we can visit also.

Poor Cathy. I can imagine the pain that having your computer misbehave must cause you, not to mention all the people who depend on you. I have just got to ask about the watermelon drink at Mexico. I just love the watermelon flavor at the igloo and am salivating at the thought of getting a fix in a big gulp instead of tiny sips. Please send details so we can find and devour that magnificent concoction?

Rafiki, That banner was a beacon in the night. What a wonderful thing to come home to!! It was so nice of Pete and Alex to join us. I am flattered and honorexd although I suspect they came by to see what we were up to. Have you noticed how many drop in visitors this thread is getting? I hope some of them decide to join us and stay for a bit. This is just too good to keep to ourselves. Black Forest Cake is my very, very favorite. I have one I make that costs almost $60 in ingredients to make. My kids used to request it for when they returned from camp. Mine is made with whipped cream. I had not thought of using cream cheese. Yummmm!!! You should be careful in advertising your recipe. No one here would steal your idea but you just never know what a hacker might do in order to get a chocolate fix. GRIN

Helenabear, thanks for setting me straight on the dip on POTC. I must have been made of sterner stuff when I was younger and forgot the dip. Now that I am older and more frail (yeah, right) I may require the services of Kass and Don to sit on either side of me to help me keep my composure. Yep, sounds like a plan to me. I think I will give that some thought this evening. I think that TON would hit the spot this evening. A late dinner at LeCellier would be a great capper. Would you believe I have never eaten there. Cheddar Cheese soup, here I come! Anyone coming with me?

Slightly Goofy

Sorry ladies, I was trying to learn how to put an image on here and thought I would practice where people would forgive me. You will won't you? If someone could tell me what I did wrong I would appreciate it.

Slightly Goofy

Wow, I went back in and did an edit thing and it worked. Now if I only knew what I did. Now I have to figure out how to get it on my profile thingie. You guys are spurring me onto greater and better th ings. Thanks. SG

I haven’t had the chance to play "catch-up" yet with our thread, but will do so soon. In the meantime, I just had to put this news flash here for IASW Rider and any other "It's A Small World" fans... The rumors board has a thread that Team Disney is considering something sinister regarding that ride. Here's the link: http://64.225.125.24/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=537227#post537227
I repeat, it's only a RUMOR but still it has me concerned. I know that IASW Rider is secretly planning a wedding reception in that ride for the EWP gang. If the ride goes, so does IASW Rider’s party plans. Sorry to let the cat out of the bag, IASW Rider, but when someone gets our new concierge Cast Member Kas A. Nova all liquored up, he sings like a canary! I think we should start using our pull with WDW to get that rumor not only squashed but also the Team Disney organization all revved up to make sure that "It's A Small World" is never removed from any of the Disney theme parks around the world (as in planet Earth). Come on gang, it's time to band together. Let's discuss this out on the deck this evening. It's a beautiful night. And please do not remove the towel that is covering Kas; he's trying to "sleep off" the libations that he and I shared this afternoon. (Sshh! Please don't tell my hubby!)

Janet, how did I immediately know that it was you who got poor Kass all liquored up? You are a wanton woman with no shame whatsoever. Must be what I like about you. LOL

They would not dare to do away with IASW. If they thought people were up in arms over Figment just imagine the riots that would break out over our favorite ride? I say we stage a sit in and just ride it over and over until our eyes are crossed and the tune is permanently embedded into our brains. Oops, we have already done that. Ok, second plan. If they do away with our ride we will sneak into Mr. Eisener's house and hide in every corner and sing the song in unison until he is forced to restore it before his mind goes. Oops, that won't work either cause if he even thought of getting rid of our ride it would mean his mind was already gone. I guess I am not nefarious enough to think up an appropriate punishment but I am sure that one or more of you will be able to come up with an ultimate punishment. We could get Kass and Don to sneak bits and pieces of the ride over to Riders house and she could take care of it until saner minds prevail. I am sure she would invite us all over to share her good fortune. She is a very nice person.

Seriously though, I see an ugly trend toward 'thrill' rides and away from the character and magic that we know and love about the place. That is what this chicken fell in love with in the first place cause I could ride almost every single ride. I have shied away from US because there are few rides I dare attempt. If I want to get the bejesus scared out of me I will just get out my old tax records. I want fun, smiles, details and magic. NOW!!!!!

I am going over to MK and ride IASW a few times just to bolster the attendence records. Did you all get the message about the late dinner at the Castle just for the EWP group? Please remember your Groupie badges so you can get it. There is a rumor that they are going to run a special parade for us also but I am not sure about that. I hope that Tinker gets to do a fly by for us.

Slightly Goofy

WebmasterCathyCanada, I am so sorry that you got a nasty virus. That has happened to several of my friends, too. I am so glad that you brought this unpleasant topic up. I will make sure to have Disney’s computer experts stop by the EWP Suite in order to install the latest virus protection software, as well as a state-of-the-art firewall.

IASW Rider, the birthday foods were incredible. Yum! I am so glad that SlightlyGoofy had her Tums to share with me as I truly ate too much.

Helenabear, I agree with you about Splash Mountain. It is just too cute to miss.

Rafiki Rafiki Rafiki, I loved the commemorative lithograph that you got for SlightlyGoofy’s birthday. All I can say is WOW! And I absolutely love your idea of the Jacuzzi being shaped like Mickey. I don’t know why I didn’t think of that before. How original and what a wonderful way to fit 50 EWP lovers all at once. Double wow! IASW Rider found Kas, and I agree, he’s dreamy. Sigh. I would love to attend Walt’s hometown’s celebration with you, if you don’t mind. I was told that if you want to charter the WDW corporate jet, just call 1-800-EWP-LOVE and ask to speak with Marilyn. She’s in charge of all charters. Your Black Forrest dessert was to die for. I especially loved the cream cheese filling. Oh, where did I put those Tums? Once again I have gorged myself as if it were my last meal, and unfortunately for my suite mates, it was (as in, I ate it all and left nothing for you folks, sorry!).

TIGGERSMOM, yes, there are a lot of undiscovered skeletons (hee hee) in our fellow suitemates’ closets. Did you know that WebmasterCathyCanada secretly works as a member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police on every other Thursday? Yes, it’s true. I’ve seen photos of her that were secretly taken by Dan Murphy. Of course she was wearing a mustache in those photos so as to disguise the fact that she is a woman, but her dazzling smile gave her away. I wonder what secrets we’ll discover about you?!

Bashful64, I hope to see you soon. I heard through the “grapevine” (aka, Tiggersmom) that you have really been going to town on the planning of the “secret” canal between the Epcot resorts and the Magic Kingdom resorts. If I remember what Tiggersmom said correctly, you are “busy as a beaver.”

SlightlyGoofy, I am so glad that you were coerced (!!) into volunteering to take my Madonna-child off my hands once she reaches those torturous teenage years! Yahoo! (hee hee) Seriously, I am so glad that you enjoyed the day of celebrations that we threw for your birthday. It was so much fun, probably the best day that I have ever had at WDW. Thank you for letting us share it with you. I’m glad you liked the Wurlitzer jukebox that IASW Rider had installed in our suite. It really is a classy addition to our lovely accommodations.

I absolutely LOVE all of SlightlyGoofy’s suggestions for the “SAVE IASW” campaign. How ‘bout we add on a room to our suite, say, once the Jacuzzi is done? Actually, not a room, how ‘bout a shrine? In there we can install the “pieces” that Private Dining Cast Member Don Juan and Concierge Cast Member Kas A. Nova are going to “acquire” for our new collection. I am really beginning to love our private elevator. It is so perfect for our “covert” missions. And I also love the fact that we have someone of Bashful64 and WebmasterCathyCanada’s caliber amongst us. We can really learn a lot from those two. Are there any others amongst us who also have “hidden” talents? Now’s the time to speak up – we need you for our “SAVE IASW” campaign. Do your fellow EWP lovers proud!

I’ll see you all at the Castle dinner this evening. Thanks, SlightlyGoofy, for the reminder to wear my “EWP Groupie” GOH badge this evening. It’s nice how it just gives me access to all kinds of wonderful things at WDW. Of course I will be riding the “It’s A Small World” ride for the hour prior to dinner. I hope to bump into a few of you over there.

Well, Janet, you will not be surprised to find that I took the test and still ended up being "Goofy". I was not surprised at all. Just as well so I won't have to go thru the trouble of changing all my details. LOL Thank you for the link to the 'secret' site. I will explore more when I take a break. Vacation is hard work (NOT)

That sure was fun last night. I don't believe I ever saw IASW sparkle quite as much. I think the children knew of our campaign to save them and they were smiling extra just for us. They are so sweet.

Janet, I don't think Madonna is quite as bad a role model as some might think. I really don't think she does half the stuff she puts out there. She is quite a business woman (saw where she gives free tickets to no one) and seems to be raising her children very traditionally. I would rather see a woman exploit herself than be exploited. JMHO Your DD will rule the world and make up her own rules. I do hope you survive the training period though. Been there, done that and hope I never have to do it again. Whew!!! I am still recovering.

I have to go over to Spoodles and do some checking today. A nasty rumour is going around that they are discontinuing their brunches. I want to find out if it is true and if so I will have no choice but to drown my sorrows with baked goods from the bakery while looking out over the lake with great sadness and foreboding.

Slightly Goofy

Hi Everyone,

Sorry that it's taken me so long to respond, but I have taken up residence inside the WDW IASW building in attempt to convince the POWERS THAT BE that IASW is still so loved by Disney fans that they are willing to MOVE INTO THE PLACE to prove it! My mission is to ensure that IASW is safely maintained forever in DL as well as WDW and all of the other parks! You will find me in a different "country" every day - today I write to you on my specially charged laptop from "Israel", as I practice my traditional Jewish dancing with the little bride and groom dolls there, in preparation for my wedding! I spent last evening having a long talk with the Italian gondolier boy (he told me that his name is "Tony") and soliciting suggestions from him, as well as the French can-can girl dolls about how we may ensure that IASW is never removed from any of the Disney parks! Thanks for bringing DVC-Landbaron's post to my attention, Janet2K (he always has the most interesting posts!). It immediately spurred me into action to do everything I can to save the greatest attraction in Disney history! Feel free to visit me here as you ride IASW before dinner, gang. You're sure to recognize me - I'll be the one with the laptop, holding an "IF IASW GOES, I'M GOING WITH IT!" sign! Keep me posted about the activities in the Suite until my return! And thanks for all of the "save IASW" ideas, Slightly Goofy - they are very inspiring, and have clearly contributed to the inspiration of my demonstration!

And thanks so much for posting the link to that great web site, Janet! I loved seeing it - especially the 100 Years of Magic "tours" of the celebration! I can't wait to see those new parades! I also took the personality test, and I am also "Cinderella"! (which is great, since she is my favorite Disney character!) I put one of the wallpapers from the site on my computer today, as well!

I completely agree with you, Slightly Goofy, as you said that it seems as though there is a trend away from the traditional character-oriented / family rides at the Disney parks, and more of a concentration on thrill rides. If I wanted thrill rides, I would go to the Six Flags park located 20 miles from my home, not fly 938 miles for them! The special, original, creative, and one-of-a-kind attractions are what make the Disney parks so unique, entertaining, and memorable. Where else can one be treated to the remarkable, interesting, amusing and / or lifelike animatronics that can be found in many of the Disney attractions? Where else can we see our favorite stories and films come to life? IASW is such a special and sentimental attraction for me - just thinking about it brings back great memories from my childhood - and from my adulthood! There are few places where I am as happy as I am, when I am in one of those IASW boats! I cannot believe that they are seriously considering (if not already planning) to remove the Country Bears from DL. I always loved them at WDW and hope that they don't close their show there, as well! As Slightly Goofy said, I am also a "chicken" when it comes to many rides, and was always so relieved to find how many I could experience at WDW, because many are not "thrill-oriented". I hope that that does not change. And by the way, I am the "big chicken" - not Helenabear! She is very brave......and especially brave to offer to risk her hearing by coercing me onto Splash Mountain, where she will inevitably have to listen to me scream and whimper the entire time! Maybe Helenabear can show us a way to experience Splash Mountain and all of the neat characters and scenes inside.....and not have to take the BIG PLUNGE, as you said, Slightly Goofy! Maybe she knows of a secret exit which we can take!

I wish that I could jump on that chartered jet and join you all for Walt's Hometown Birthday celebration, as well! Maybe I can catch up when my sit-in (or shall I say "live in") is over! At that time, I will assist Don and Kas with the covert "transfer" of our little IASW friends to the SAVE IASW HEADQUARTERS OFFICE in the Suite! Please keep me posted regarding Bashful64's progress with the digging of the canal (assisted by Don and Kas!) as WebmasterCathyCanada stands guard, please bring me a taste of whatever other goodies Rafiki Rafiki Rafiki might happen to whip up for us, and please bring over the models for TiggersMom's 2001 EWP Groupies Collectors' Pins so that I can see them before they go into full production and the inventory is completely purchased within the first 5 minutes! Come and visit me in here when you can - show your support of IASW!

:)

Well, they might as well close the park if IASW is closed down. Let me just say that the grandeur of the ride changed a bit when they updated the ride some years ago...it just isn't the same I remember from childhood.

By the way, I have some tempra paints and a few extra posterboards left from my DD's school projects this year. If any of you want to help paint signs, meet me in the vestibule at 3.

Here's another dessert for you. I submitted it to Pillsbury yesterday. It's somewhat like the other, but different. It has layers of pie crust covered with cinnamon chips, cream cheesse filling, covered with apple pie filling and topped off with caramel. Hope ya'll like it.

The imagineers and the Jaccuzzi brothers are done with the jaccuzzi. They want to bring it over around 5. SG, will you have Don whip up another batch of ICBs? I'm going to run over to MK and help out IASW with her stand down. I have some superglue and am planning to glue my blue butt to the ride.

Let's not take this standing up girls! Grab the glue, and let's head on over to MK!

I so agree with you Slightly Goofy about the direction the parks are going with the rides. Now I don't mind a few of them here and there (MK has a great blend as does EPCOT in my eyes), but I do not like MGMs massive thrill rides. If I want thrills, I'll go to Cedar Point. Of course here I am trying to get you and IASW Rider on a few of these "thrill rides"... but then again they really aren't too terrible to go on. (Rider if you've been on flumes they are all the same... this one actually feels much safer than the rest I've been on... bigger boats so you don't rock side to side so much)... now all I have to do is convince you that the drop on Splash Mt is no bigger than the ones elsewhere ;) Seriously though, I do not think Rock N Roller coaster ride belongs at Disney. That is NOT a family ride and I thought that was the point... a family vacation! I think Space Mountain is a bit much but it is rather tame compared to most rides... as is BTM. I just hope some people realize this and know that as I get older my back and neck get worse and I cannot handle massive rides like that.... well I think I have done enough complaining... we are supposed to be happy.

IASW Rider, you aren't going to get out of the big drop ;) As I said before, it really isn't any worse than any other flume that I have been on (mostly at Kings Island) and if you can do those, you definitely can handle this. Just remember when you hear "FSU" you HAVE to look straight ahead to see if you can get a glimpse of Cinderella Castle! The next thing you know, you'll be slightly wet and finishing up the ride. And don't call me brave... I still refuse to go on Rock N Roller Coaster. Don't you worry about the screaming... I'll just buy earplugs first ;) I'll also make sure I bring a pillow, so you can tear at that instead of my arm... And yes, there is an exit right before the drop but you'd have to be VERY quick to get off right before the drop... And if you do go on this with me, I will make sure you don't walk on and then walk right off to the exit side. I do wish I could share this with you guys but I don't have any pictures or video. I will have to look around though.

Well I am glad it is Friday. I so look forward to a nice long weekend of relaxation. I hope everyone here has a great weekend. Anyone have any good plans?

I'd hate to be the one who killed this thread. I hope you all are having great weekends!

Helenabear I'll save you from that thread killer label ;) Sorry to have disappeared on everyone but real life comittments call. DH and I have 2 contracts both needing completed buy July 30th.....so I have been working like crazy.....and still have a lot more to do. I hope everyone has a great weekend. Think of me while you are all partying it up in the EWP suite....and don't tire Don and Kas out before I get back ;)

well IASW I would like to join you in a barricade to keep any powers that be from removing a single singing, dancing munchkin from the fair SW land. Maybe we could find Figment to ehlp us I hear he is really angry over hispink slip from Epcot. He could do airial reconosance for us.

Bashful64 - I hear you have begun a covert mission to help the bring the canal to BW area. I can start at one end if you get DOn & Cas to help on the other. Plus I hear we don't even need keys to operate heavy machinery.

I am now on a search and retrieve mission for EWP pins, I hear they may be out their but someone may be hoarding them. I would bet the same folk starting rumours about IASW.

I will down my Pina, put on my undercover Light up Turtle and head to do some spying. Being as it is not Thursday and CathyCanada is unavailable.

I would love to help with the "Save IASW" campain. Does that mean I have to go down to WDW to picket the ride, because I could handle that ;)

Well today we are off to the Columbus Zoo. It might rain but it doesn't look to be too bad. I hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Greetings, once again, from the inside of IASW! Still here, taking a stand against the possible "dismantlement" of the greatest attraction in WDW! Also, munching on Rafiki Rafiki Rafiki's new cinnamon-cheese-apple-crust dessert! YUM!!!!!!! It is unbelievable! It was so kind of you to bring me a slice as you floated by while glued to your IASW boat, Rafiki Rafiki Rafiki! Thanks for joining in the effort........and for the delicious treat!

Please don't think that you would have killed this thread, Helenabear! Remember, you're stuck with your Suitemates for at least the next year - you can't get rid of us that easily!;) OK, OK - you have me convinced.......break out those earplugs, 'cause as soon as I have finished my IASW mission, I will attempt to go on Splash Mountain with you! Maybe we can bring SlightlyGoofy with us! And I'll keep my eye on the Castle.........uh oh, I'm getting nervous again - I'd better not think about it! Have a great time at the zoo, today! Let us know how it compares to the AK! :)

Lots of good luck with completing your contracts, Bashful64! I'm sure that you and DH will complete them beautifully, and in time to be able to enjoy the rest of the weekend with your family!

And thanks for engaging in a search for EWP pins, TiggersMom! I'm sure that they will look great with our illuminated bracelets which Janet2K brought for us! (Seriously - would you happen to know of a way that I might be able to locate and purchase an EWP pin? Thanks!) Be careful out there - bring Don and Kas for protection! And if you see Figment or Dreamfinder along the way, please tell them about our SAVE IASW EFFORTS! Maybe you could recruit them to join us - we could use all the help that we can get!

Well, though I am in IASW in my mind, now hanging out with the big pink elephant and funny blue hippo in "Africa", in reality I am off to join DF and bring his cats to the vet for their check ups (and emotionally prepare them to join my feline family in 2 months!)!

Have a great weekend, everyone! :)

Thanks for picking up the slack for me TIGGERSMOM!! :)
First Skyway, then CoP and now IASW. Poor Walt is rolling over in his grave. :(
