EWP group?

Hi there everyone! I admit it’s been a while since I have been here but life has been busy with family events and not nearly as much time in the evening as there used to be for me to sit down and give a nice, good long reply to you all. So I am giving up on the hope of giving a good reply and just stopping in no matter how brief it may be.

The Columbus meet went very well! We had a huge group show up (many more than I could have ever expected). The weather was fairly good and even though it was a tad humid, it was only low to mid 80’s will a few clouds in the sky so we didn’t have the sun beating down on us. I’d say everyone was so nice and friendly there. It was so neat to be able to meet people that I wouldn’t have been able to meet otherwise. And some I will see again in at least December. Of course I took tons of pictures. I got all ambitious and posted them the same night I got home Columbus meet pictures and I stayed up much too late fixing and changing them all.

The day after the meet, I had to go to my dad’s for my grandmother’s 91st birthday. We had a bunch of family over but I will admit I was extremely tired and was very glad to be able to just go home and relax that evening. So here I am just a few days later wondering where my weekend went… it certainly wasn’t long enough ;)

I feel stupid… for some reason I thought today was the anniversary of the group. I had it in my brain that it was actually the 27th for a while but then I realized that was far too late in the month so I thought it was the 17th. Oops  Anyway, it is so wonderful to know that this group has been around for so long and I am very glad to say I am a part of the group.

Linda, I wanted to congratulate you on you continued weight loss. That is absolutely outstanding that you can continue to do that! Keep up the good work and soon you will be so tiny that we won’t be able to see you at all ;) I am glad that you had a good time over the 4th as well. I do hope that your sister does make the right choice with her surgery.

Lisa, a big {{HUG}} for you. I still feel so bad that they have treated you this way at your job. I still think it is just awful that they are treating you that way. You know it has been years since I have seen that American Adventure ride so off the top of my head I couldn’t tell you if he was riding a bike or not. It honestly does not ring a bell with me, but then again it has been many many years since I have seen it (probably about 12 years or so). But if it existed I would have seen it at one point. Maybe I’ll start by asking my sister if she remembers it.

Everyone else… just saying hi and I hope you are all doing well! Take Care and I will hopefully stop by more often even if for shorter periods of time. I do think that my life will be less busy though by the end of this month (it’s a big birthday month in my family). I hope you all have a wonderful day :sunny:

Hi Ladies (and any lurking Gentlemen!)!

How are you all doing, today?

Belated Happy Anniversary! Of course I would remember, Linda! And speaking of your birthday.........! :) Congratulations on that weekly loss - SEE, I TOLD YOU SO!!!! :) :) :) Where the heck can one find a scale that measures 10ths of pounds? It would be great to find one like that - believe me - I need all of the encouragement that I can get, too! My losses have been sluggish....but at least I haven't gained anything, so I'm not beating myself up. I don't understand why it seems to be moving more slowly, lately - I haven't changed my eating or exercise habits at all. Maybe it's just one of those annoying "plateaus". Anyway, glad to hear that all is well with the boys and that "Granny School" will be in session, soon! I know that you do a wonderful job with them and that you make more progress than you probably give yourself credit for! I hope that all goes well with your sister's operation - it's a pretty scary procedure to have - I hope that she is doing the right thing for herself and that she will follow the doctor's orders beforehand and afterwards. You don't have to send me anything - don't be silly! Thank you for thinking of me, though! And anything from you would be special, because you are such a special person!

Nope, no idea what I will do when my job ends. I would love to do something that has something to do with WDW........but since we aren't in a position to move down there, I don't think that that is going to happen! There aren't very many jobs out there, period, muchless ones that I would be interested in. I would love to do something that I really ENJOY doing (as opposed to what I've been doing for the past 15 years, just because that's where my experience is), but I don't think that I would be able to make a living doing the sorts of things that I really enjoy, especially in this economy. So, I guess I'll just allow myself to be laid off, take my severence package, and try to figure out what to do next (and a contingency plan, if I absolutely cannot find a job. I have very experienced and qualified friends who have been out of work for 6 -8 months - when I say that there are NO JOBS out there, I mean there are NO JOBS out there. Even most of ML is "frozen", so I have not had any luck searching for jobs internally.) Oh well - this topic is too depressing. Let's talk about happy things.......

.......like the Columbus DIS Meet, for example! Thanks for sending the link to your great pictures, Elaine! I'm looking at them as I'm posting - going back and forth. It's always so great to see photos of other DIS'ers, and I love the pictures of the animals, too! It looks like it was a fun gathering! You know, I remember when you celebrated your Grandmother's 90th birthday last year - we really HAVE all known eachother for over a year, now! :) I hope that she had a very happy birthday!

Thank you both for all of your kind and thoughtful words, as always! And thank you for your input regarding my crazy Ben-Franklin-on-a-bike memory! I don't know what the heck I must be thinking of, but no one on the DIS Parks Trivia thread can remember that scene, either! I must be losing my mind....... (and now I'm going to hear it from Fantasmic Mike, too, after all of my insistence that such a scene existed! :) )

Anyway, hope that all is well with you both and with the rest of you, out there! Let's have a celebratory get-together on the veranda, for a viewing of the EWP, tonight! :)

Ladies, gather up your gear and head out the door with me. We are NOT going to be watching the EWP tonight, we are going to be on a special barge at the end. Special connections have been made so that we can go from one lagoon to another and watch the World going by. I tried to get IASW connected to the lagoons but even Disney needed a bit more time to arrange such a thing. While we are out the Suite will be given a fresh coat of paint and new carpeting. You know how fussy they are about treating their guests so well. Charge accounts have been renewed for the next year. I must warn you that with the poor economy the charge levels are now only $10,000 a day per guest so poor Rider must cut down a bit on her pin collecting. Hopefully, next year things will be back to normal. Maybe Rider can help me out with some investing advice

In our honor special Suite Lounges have been set up in each park, just for ourselves and our guests. A special room was added for Luis so he can take charge of our computer room and make sure that everything is up to date and current. In his spare time he can run his very own ISP and any other thing his little heart desires. I hope that Lisa enjoys the photography studio that has been added. Maybe she will teach me how to take the lens cap off before t aking a picture. The private jet is available to shuttle Rider from NJ to Disney and back so that she can fullfill her desire to work at Disney and spend time with her sweetie. Angelina and her beautiful family are scheduled to be the first family to open MK on New Year's Day 2003 and Jstmee and her family are going to be in residence over the Thanksgiving-Christmas weeks this year in order to rest up from the eventful year they have had.

I think we should elect Dan and Marie to be our den parents and keep us all in line. Heaven knows I need someone to watch over me and am surely not up to the challenge of watching out for all you wild children. LOL

The scales are Tanita and I found mine at Meijer's for half price ($30). They measure in the .02 range and track your body fat (ugh).

I did not get the dishes washed until late as I spent the time looking at the pictures on Lisa's posting. I am so late at doing almost everything and am in awe of how you all hold down full time jobs and still manage to do far more than I do. Something always comes up and then I fall into bed sometime after midnight too exhausted to do anything more. Old age is not for the faint of heart IMHO.

Happy Anniversary all you wonderful people and may the next year bring you all the Magic of the Kingdom, Many Great Moments, Every Possible Carefree Outrageous Travels, and Awesome Kisses (from your SO's).

It's hard to believe it's been a whole year since we all met in the suite! It's been so much fun getting to know each of you, and I hope we continue to stay in touch for another year. SG, I'm there. It seems that after 3 trips to WDW, I would be "over" it, but I have decided that when the last of my children head out the door to college, I'm "selling up" and going to Orlando to live and work at WDW! Hubby can stay here, LOL. My friends think I'm crazy, maybe they're right. Who knows?

Lisa, I just KNOW the right job is out there waiting for you, but who's to say you couldn't be a travel agent up there and specialize in Disney?!?!?! It's something to think about. Just because you have experience in one field doesn't mean you can't take advantage of your time off and "specialize" in something else.
I know I haven't been in touch, we've just been busy running around, and this week we started getting ready to go back to school next month. My house is a wreck, and dh is leaving tomorrow for a 4 day fishing trip, so things are a little crazier than usual around here.

Helenabear and jstme, hope things are going well for you, too. Take care, everyone. Have a good night.

ANgie

SG, I knew the suite was due for a major rehaul, that's why I've been away. lol...

It's funny, today is the first day in sooooooo long that I haven't stepped foot in my car to cart someone around. It's my twins birthday and they have 3 friends over, and they will spend the night. I cleaned the main floor before they arrived and I spent from 2pm to 7pm cleaning the downstairs. I feel so tired, yet refreshed because I did a thorough cleaning. Whew!

I have family coming to visit in two weeks so that's a little bit less I need to do. Just have to keep up with it till then. The boys are all out playing now so I have a few moments.

As always we've been busy. The boys are in playoffs for baseball now. I bought them a baseball bat for their birthday. I won't even tell you how much it cost. EXPENSIVE!! But on the first day out with the bat one of the boys hit over the fence. Woo hoo!!

My girlfriend, Helen, passed away last week. She had a long battle. I pray she is at peace now. My other friend now has a bone tumor right above her eye. They believe it's benign though, she'll find out more soon. Please send some PD and prayers this way. We were at the ball game last night and her little boy was playing near a telephone pole. He touched the metal part that holds up the pole and got electricuted. He got stuck right to the pole. She ran up to him and tried to kick him off, when that didn't budge him she tackled him to the ground and he came off. He is okay as far as we know, he's 5 years old. We were so shook up. All that anyone could see was him screaming and just holding onto that wire. Can you believe that was right at the little league field were kids are all the time. It had just rained and the ground was wet. There must have been a short of some kind.

All is well with me medically. My son so far everything is okay also. He might have some eye surgery next week to help correct his nerve palsy.

I love my job! I've been working 3-4 shifts a week while I'm in training. It's more than I want to work, but it's a nice job and I really like "most" of the people I work with. The best part is that when I leave the job it's done.

I've been missing from the board for so long. With summer and work and funerals and weddings, whew! I almost can't wait till winter to be back again. But, you didn't hear me say that. We still have some very cold weather her. An example, it was hot here today, mid-80's, but now that the sun has gone down it's sweatshirt and long pant weather.

I miss all of you and think of you all often enjoying the parades and rides and just plain relaxing in the suite.

ta ta for now. Wendy

Dear Wendy

We sure have missed having you around here but understand how life can get in the way of fun things sometimes. I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your friend. Even though you would not wish her to be in such pain I am sure that you will miss her and I hope that you will be able to treasure the memories without so much heartache one day soon. Your other friend is awesome. I hope her little boy recovers quickly and does not have any side effects. What a scary thing to have happen. If you had been in charge of the park I am sure it would not have happened. My grandson has Nystagmus, a neurological eye condition that they want to operate on him for, is your son's condition similar? You bought a bat or one for each child? Hey, if it gets more homeruns then the cost is worth it. LOL What do you do at your job? If you like most of the people you are doing just fine. Life would be boring if we had all agreeable people around us all the time.

Angelina, I was thinking of you today. I read a book "The Florabama Ladies' Auxiliary & Sewing Circle" by Lois Battle. Right at the beginning it mentions Fairhope, AL. It is a good book, not great, but it is a hoot and a holler. Bunch of strong women dealing with their situations, my kind of stuff. BTW, I will be happy to split the rent with you when you run off to join DW. I would dearly love to work there but have the full care of my DH and it is not getting any better. His family is giving us pressure to move down near them and it is very tempting as they would be able to help me some but I would miss my boys so very much. The other day Austin came running in the back door from the church. He had cut his hand and Grandma is the only one who knows how to fix him. He gets headaches from reading so much and I have a special medicine that works better than anything else he has ever tried. It is really raspberry tea flavoring. I am working on a special pill for his nerves now. It will really be a multivitamin. He gets so nervous over taking tests and such. When he was very little I made him up a fancy bottle of colored water with sparkles to chase the goblins from his room. I are one sneaky lady. LOL

My garden is starting to produce. I have sugar pod peas already and the peppers and tomatoes are getting about ready to start picking. Probably have green beans too but have not had a chance to get out and check today. Doing well on the diet this week. Am starting to get cranked up again.

I received the most unexpected and welcome card today from Lisa/Rider. It had a wedding picture enclosed and I do not believe I have ever seen a better looking couple in my life. I am the sort who keeps and treasures these kinds of things so it will go in my "friendship" album along with Angelina's georgeous children. I love taking one of my many volumes out and looking through them from time to time. They are located near my front door as if the place ever goes up in flames that is what I will save first and foremost. Thank you so much for thinking of me dear Lisa. You made my day.

Helenabear, are you resting up after your big weekend? I can just see you bubbling around the zoo with all your new and old friends while Luis walks behind looking bemused and proud.

I am taking our daughter and the boys to see the miniature Vietnam Wall tomorrow. I was a Red Cross girl during the war at Ft. Ben. I also worked at the Finance Center. The girl who designed the memorial in D.C. is from my home town. Austin will be baptized at the evening service tomorrow also. I found a crystal guardian angel holding a boy to give as a momento. I think he will like it. He has had a rough couple of days and I am a bit worried about him. His cousin (30 some years old) who is an alcoholic and lives with the great grandma (read bumming off her) physically grabbed Austin the other day. His father defended him but I swear if that jerk hurts my grandson I will regain every single pound I have lost and sit on him until he is nothing but a spot on the couch!!!! I worry about the grandma who is 90 and in failing health at present. She deserves much better than this. Nice lady.

Any ideas for dinner ladies?

SG/Linda

Ah, a beautiful morning up here in the tundra of Northern Maine. Nice and sunny! The boys are still slumbering from their late night of movies. And I am relishing in the quietness of the house. Last year I cooked steak on the grill and eggs for their breakfast. This year I smarted up and have the cereal, bowls and spoons on the table waiting for them. I also have the paper cups with their names already on them ready for the OJ. Less work and less mess. Whew.

SG, I've been away for so long, I'm so proud of you for continuing the weight loss. What a wonderful feeling that must be. Your garden sounds like it is doing well. My kids eat the pea pods like they are out of style. None are ready up here yet. We are in strawberry season now. We planted 25 plants in one of my flower rectangle plots on the deck. They are doing well. I put strawberries and marigolds in one. Pansies and yearly flowers in another. Peppers and Tomatoes in another and the fourth just has a mix match of flowers. They turned out pretty good this year.

Lisa, I haven't looked at the previous posts. I've been gone so long I'll have to take an entire evening to check up on all of you. I hope you are hanging there at the job and enjoying wedded bliss. Your reports from WDW were fantastic.

Angelina, you must be sweltering down in the deep South. This is the time of year I'm sure you are either at a pool, lake or in a cool house. How are the kiddos? I want to give up being a GS leader this year, but have to find the guts to. I'll have to try to get another leader in place. If we don't have a leader, the money we raised goes to council. Won't do that. We'll take a trip to use the money first. I like to help but not lead. I just found out that my older ones go back to school on Aug 14 and the litle ones on Aug 28. Too soon for us. We just got out June 14.

Elaine, You have been a travelling girl lately. I read you trip report from Chicago. That is one city I haven't seen. As I read I was right there as well. Especially the ice cream place. LOL

SG, my DS has 6th nerve palsy. It prevents him from turning his eye outward. That one of 5 nerve palsies he has. The others aren't even noticably. Hopefully they don't get worse, we have faith he'll be just fine.

Have a wonderful day all of you. I'd like to ride the Water Mice today. Would anyone care to join me? I've never been so it should be exciting.

Wendy

Wendy, yes, hot isn't the right word. This is the weekend of the "BIG" fishing rodeo, and dh, who left Thursday, came back last night instead of today. He said it was too hot and too calm. I read this morning that the heat index for us yesterday was 110 degrees. Friday night a large group of us took the kids to a drive in showing of Monsters, Inc. at our mall, and when we left just after 10, the thermometer on my car was still registering 101! We spend as much time as possible at our swim club, the Gulf and Bay water is so warm it's sticky and not very refreshing.

I was getting a kick our of your and SG's posts. We plant pansies in October around here, and they last until early May, when it gets too hot. Strawberries were also gone in early May, but, but we still have watermelon, blueberries, corn, tomatoes, squash, and field peas. Are sugar peas the same as a sugar snap pea? If so, we buy them frozen, but we have pink eye and purple hull peas, field peas, and crowder peas, butter peas and speckled butter beans, and something called a Christmas bean, which is like a large, fat, white lima with red speckles.

I can't believe you still have weather cool enough for long pants and sweaters. We won't need those things again until at least October, and I remember more Thanksgivings than one spent in shorts. My son wears navy shorts with his uniform shirt until November. Mornings may be cool, but by noon, it's warm again.

I hear rumblings in the distance. We were awakened this morning by a lightning storm, but no rain, which is scary to me, because the dry storms are worse. The lightning is more severe.

I would like to drop the Brownie troop, too, but I can't, I already have 14 girls signed up for next year, although I have more volunteer moms to do cookie sales and such. Maybe after next year they won't to do it again. My kids go back to school August 19, and the baby starts mom's day out 3 days a week soon after. Yoohoo! I've already started buying new lunchboxes and school supplies.

Hey, doesn't SG have a b'day coming up soon? And, BTW, I will gladly split the rent with any and all of you when I move in. I would absolutely love to work at WDW, surely they have a job for all of us!

Well, this has gone on long enough. Have a great afternoon!

Angie

Hey Everyone!

Sorry that I haven't been in, in a few days - just trying to catch up on everyone's posts, now! Just wanted to stop by and say "hi" - will write more later - I'm off from work tomorrow and Friday (yea!!!).

Great to hear from you, Angie and Wendy!
Hi Linda and Elaine!

See you all for SG's gala birthday-and-special-presentation-of-IllumiNations cruise, tomorrow night at sunset! :)

Have a great day! :)

A GREAT, BIG EWP SUITE "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" TO YOU, LINDA!!!!!!!!
:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Hope that you're having a wonderful day! We'll all see you later, for the festivities!

Have a great day, Everyone! :D

............and in your honor there will be a special extravaganza showing of the EWP parade tonight.

Big hugs to you on your birthday today Linda. Be good to yourself and enjoy your day.

Wendy

PS I'm off to get a root canal. ouch

Hi there ladies!!! A big happy birthday to you Linda!!!!

It's been a busy week for me. I was able to meet up with WillyJ while he was in town on Tuesday and Wednesday I had to be with my dad for his birthday. So we had two nights in a row out with people for dinner. But I had to make it just in time for Linda's big bash...

Let the fun begin and I do believe the EWP is about to start momentarily :bounce: :bounce:

I am so grateful and humble to have such wonderful friends. Thank you all so much for your birthday congratulations. It made my day.

Where else would I want to be on my natal day than sitting on the veranda with my Suite Mates watching the EWP parade? What with the rumors of even better discounts coming in a few days I am being overcome with Disney fever again. My health is much improved and if it holds I may give it another try. I just gotta see the EWP and now I have a hankering to check out Fairhope, AL also. I have some friends down there right now and I have been promised a report.

Elaine, what did you guys do for your dad's birthday? I bet it was a doozy. You come up with some great ideas. Bet Dan and Marie were sad not to be able to come to your Zoo Zippity Doo Da. Are you going to do another meet next year? The first one is always the hardest.

Wendy, root canal? I hope it makes you feel better rather than worse. It is always rough to have things done when you do not really hurt, even if you need it. You and Anglie are angels on this earth for stepping up to the plate for the community kids. I hope you get some support though. I am glad to see that you have learned the secret fact that it is not how hard you work at something that makes it a success. WTG on the easier breakfast. The kids probably liked it better than the harder to make meal. Have you ever tried making cupcakes in ice cream cones (the flat bottomed ones). Easy, cute and nothing to throw away! I plant marigolds in among my veggies cause it deters some varmints, they don't like the smell.

Angie, yep, sugar peas are the same thing as snap peas, I just could not come up with the right name then. I fixed a big batch, sauteed in Pam with some herbs and peppers the other day and they were great. SIL is hankering for my tomatoes to turn so I can make some pans of stuffed peppers again this year. I am going to their house for dinner Sunday. I am bringing homemade ice cream and they are going to grill some chicken.

Lisa, thank you so much for the cards, cyber and real. When I grow up I wanna be just like you. (grin) Please remember to put things away a bit akilter for the next few weeks. P's should be filed under B since they rhyme etc. I know you won't really do it but it is nice to dream evil dreams once in awhile just to keep what sanity we have intact. Whatever you do,when you are between jobs do not, whatever you do, turn into a housewife. Once they find out you know how to cook and clean they expect it full time. LOL

My friend was transferred to the local nursing home and since she is just 54 it is extremely hard on her. She has suffered from depression her whole life and I fear she is not going to make it for very long unless something changes. I had to bake bread for a funeral yesterday and Austin helped me. Not much different from playing with Play Doh.

Take care dear ladies and I hope that the magic of DW will follow you through the weekend and beyond.

Slightly Goofy/Linda

Slightly Goofy/Linda - I but marigolds with the veggies and fruits also to deter the critters. It works like a charm for the most part. I have had the cupakes in the icecream cones, but I never attempted to make them.

We are headed downstate tomorrow. The whole bunch of us for Kenny's doctors appointment/surgery. I'll update when we return. I hope the first day of swimming at the hotel will do us all good. Tonight at work we saw a very bad case. A 19 yr old fell off a ladder and fractured his ankle/foot. The bones were completely away from his foot and ripped through the skin. I had the misfortune of seeing it. I think I will have nightmares from it. This definately let's me know I enjoy the office type environment. I could never be a nurse.

Well, gotta go, up early again tomorrow.

howdy helenabear, IASW Rider, Angelina and all ye lurkers! Baseball season is over. My youngster came in second place and the older ones third.

Adios
Wendy

Now this was a first for me in a while... I had absolutely nothing to do this weekend at all!!! That hadn't happened for me since sometime in June so I happily lazed around the house yesterday and hardly did a thing! :)

SG, we actually don't do much for birthdays in my family. Usually just dinner, a few presents & a special birthday dessert of sorts. Even when we were kids, we usually didn't have a huge party or anything like that at all... just family and close friends :) I am sure we will be planning a Central Ohio meet again sometime. Who knows when but hopefully sometime soon... maybe for mid-fall if we are lucky... who knows really. The zoo was great though and maybe some day we'll do that again :) I did see some of those discout rates that were just released and they sound almost too good to be true! I do hope you can take adavantage of them :)

Lisa, I do hope all is going well with you and your job search and all that. I think of you often and I really hope for the best. I did see your wedding announcement and I must admit I thought it was wonderfully written!!! I'm so glad you could share that with a few of your cyber friends :)

Wendy, congrats to your kids in their baseball tournaments! Sounds like they all did wonderful!!! I wish you the best with your DS upcoming surgery. I hope it is done safely and sucessfully! I am not sure I could do your job though as I am not sure I'd want to have to see that 19 year old's foot!!!

Angie, I hope you are able to relax sometime soon and maybe some day you'll be able to drop the Brownie troup so you can have a little more free time on your hands. It sounds like you've had some cool weather around your area... wanna send some my way?? ;)

Well I really have nothing exciting to share as I have just been relaxing and enjoying my weekend! I hope the same is true for all of you :sunny:

I could not resist, I did it again. We are booked into the AS Sports from Nov 5th thru the 17th and possibly longer. I will be a nervous wreck until we get on property and then a worse wreck getting back home but in the meantime I plan to enjoy myself. Anyone wanna guess what the first thing on my agenda will be? giggle

Elaine, everyone needs a bit of "downtime" once in awhile. I am glad that you enjoyed yours. Too much work or even too much play is not good for a person. It would have to be next year before I could plan on coming to a meet. I am putting all my vacation eggs into this basket for this year. Is a commitment to try to return at least once next year as well but the AP's will be paid for then! I am going to try to get one of my sisters to come too. She does not get to travel much so it would be an adventure.

Jstmee, I have used human hair to good effect as well. I have a friend who owns a beauty shop. Does not look as well as marigolds though. Congratulate your young athletes for me, please? We will all have Kenny and your family in our thoughts and will be hoping for nothing but good news when you return.

Angelina, just out of curiousity, how far is Fairhope from Disney World? Doubt sincerely that it could be done this year but am just wondering and dreaming today.

Lisa, have they moved you to the stairwell yet? From the reports I see on tv this is a great time for a career change and you might do better than others having a bit of a headstart. I am a student of history and have to say that all that is going on is so similar to what happened just before the Crash of '29. Scary world out there. Watching other reports put things in perspective though. Seeing countries where people are dying of starvation and disease makes me feel so lucky and bound and determined that we should do something to help.

Bible School all this week and it does not end until 8 pm so I am on supper duty this week. Jackie leaves work and gets here in time to pick up the boys and walk behind the house to the church and does not need to go home and have to rustle up a meal etc. I will feed them and kick them out so they can get some sleep. I don't care what the Bible says - the world needs Marthas as well as Marys. (so there LOL)

Have a TOPS meeting tomorrow and unless my scales are lying it should be a good week. Now that I have a goal (DW) in mind it should make it a lot easier. I am looking forward to the walking and getting to eat something besides lettuce. (grin)

Take care ladies and leave a bit of room in the Jacuzzi for a weary old lady who needs a bit of R&R.

SG/Linda

I don't know why I haven't been getting updates, and here I was thinking no one was in the suite for the past week or longer.

Elaine, I had to go back and find where I led you to believe we have had cooler weather here, LOL. It's a running joke that you know you're in the deep south when anything lower than 95 degrees in the summer constitutes a "Cold snap." I was referring to Sept/Oct weather, and even November, when it's cool (50's & 60's) in the mornings, but warm (80 degrees) in the afternoons. No, it's holding steady in the 90's, with 100 % humidity, thanks to the rain we've been getting daily.

Linda, I did get a kick out of your cajun country jokes. It's all relevant here, as we are only 2 hours or so from Nawlins. I'm so delighted you are going to go to WDW in the Fall, and if you travel down I-65 all the way to the end where it picks up I-10, you can pick me up on the way and I'll do the driving the rest of the way, LOL. Actually, Fairhope is still roughly 8 hours from Orlando, 5 hours west of where I-75 turns south on the other side of Tallahassee. It's the worst part of the trip, IMHO, very boring.

SG, several weeks ago when the tall ships were in port, I was planning to send you the front section of our newspaper and all of the stories in it about the celebration, but the article at the bottom of the page was about people in the rural areas without running water and indoor plumbing. I showed it to my hubby, and we had a good laugh about it, but there was NO WAY I was sending that to you. Of all things! At least we weren't the state with the hightest percentage of homes without it, Alaska was, of all places. Anyway, we got a chuckle out of it.

Lisa, the Today show had been running ads about the Springstein concert for weeks now, so I had to watch it this morning. They only showed a couple of songs, though, they spent a lot of time on sandcastle building contests and cook outs, surfing lessons, and lifeguards. Still, it brought back a lot of high school memories.

Wendy, how's summertime in Maine? I know your kids just got out of school, but mine are going back in less than 3 weeks!!! In all honesty, they're ready, and missing their friends.

Well, it's time for me to turn in for the night. Take care, all.

Angie

Hi my friends!

How are you all doing? So sorry that I haven't checked in, in awhile! In fact, I haven't been on the Boards at all, in awhile. Just preoccupied........depressed......the usual. Got official notification from H.R. yesterday that my last day of work will be September 13th. I just celebrated my 12 year anniversary at this company, so I've been kinda melancholy. On the other hand, I really, really need a break after some of the stuff that I've had to put up with at work, lately, so maybe a little time off will be good. I started debating going back to school full time, but there is no way that I would be able to do that once my severence and unemployment ended - Frank can't support us both on his salary. And there are no jobs out there - no one is hiring. We'll see what happens......anyway, sorry to start this post off on a negative note.......see, aren't you happy that I stopped in today?? (hee hee! :) )

That's so great that you are going back to WDW in November, Linda!!! We will have to have another "virtual EWP viewing" at that time! You're going to be there just a few weeks before Elaine will be - it's too bad that your time there won't overlap!

I'm sorry that I didn't get to see the Bruce Springsteen concert on TV yesterday, Angie - it was all over our local news last night and all over the radio, while I was driving to work. He is really our hero, here in NJ! And like I said, people I know who have seen him around the town in which he lives say that he is the nicest guy. John Bon Jovi (another NJ native) and some of the guys from his band also live in the same town as Bruce, and apparently they all hang out together in "regular places" like movie theaters, restaurants, etc. I've never run into any of them myself, though - they live about 40 miles south east of where I live.

Congratulations to your kids on their successful baseball seasons, Wendy! And I hope that all went well with your root canal and that you're fully recovered and don't have to go through that again! And wishing you and your DS and your family well, on your DS's surgery.

Wow - you met WillyJ, Elaine? He is a real DIS Boards celebrity - I can't hear his name and not think........CORN!! :) Are there any more Ohio-area DIS Meets coming up any time soon? I wish that there were more planned in NJ!

As I'm going back and reading over everyone's posts, you're all making me so hungry with talk of all those great fruits and vegetables - I'm going to have to come by and "go shopping" in your gardens! :)

Sorry that this was a quick one - I'm sneaking on to the Boards at work, again.

Hope that all is well with all of you! Take care and have a great day! :)

Headed out the door and just checking in to see what is going on. Will write more later but just had to let all you Springsteen fans know that he was on Nightline and the show afterward last night and will be there again tonight. Got to hear a lot of his new songs and hear him talk about his thoughts. Great stuff and I love the man as well. NJ rules!!

SG/Linda

Thanks for your support of the Garden State, Linda! :)

I'm sorry that I missed seeing your post and finding out about Nightline until now. If I am not mistaken, Bruce is doing another "surprise" concert / dress rehearsal, down in Asbury Park, as I write! A bunch of people from my office ran out the door before noon, in the hopes of getting down there in time to catch his show (it's about 40 miles south east of where I live - maybe a tiny bit closer to where I work). There are some serious Bruce fans, in this state!

In the mean time, on the opposite end of the spectrum, we are taking Frank's sister to see Barry Manilow, tomorrow night, as her gift for being Frank's "Best Woman" at our wedding. It should be great - he always puts on a nice show! Frank's sister is a big fan and has never seen him perform live before, so I'm sure that she will enjoy it!

Anyway, just wanted to stop by and wish you all a great weekend! Talk to you soon! :)
