EWWWWWWW!!!!!!!! I HATE snakes!!! They freak me out to no end. I nearly hyperventilated last night after I saw this giant rattlesnake on the road. We were going to the movies, and I kid you not when I say this was a GIANT snake....it was the length of the width of my bf's car (he has an Ultima)!!!! We both thought it was a stick until we got right up on it and I freaked out...somehow I thought it would get caught up in the bottom of his car and get me when we stopped , but he watched it in the rearview mirror and said it curled up to "protect itself".

EW! EW! EW!! I have NEVER seen a rattlesnake THAT BIG in Florida before!!!! :faint:

OHMYGAWD!

A panic attack would have been mild for me. I think I would have dropped dead.

Eww! Snakes!

I would have been laying alongside the road dead with delswife.

I didn't know that there were rattlesnakes in Florida at all! One of the few things good about NOT living there, I guess. :p

Eeww! Thats horrible! Are you sure that it was a rattlesnake? I've never seen one of those, and I never want to either!

I love snakes. They are very cool.

I would have freaked out royally. I hate snakes! It took Brian, one of the interpreters, forever to get me to touch the boa at Rafiki's Planet Watch and it still gave me the creeps. YUCK!!!!!!!!!!
And that is a huge rattler! Do I really want to move to Central Florida, if you have rattlesnakes that big? I've never seen on that big even in the Everglades.

This is normally where I would post a funny picture (in this case of a very large snake). But last thing we need is you passing out (who would greet us all at AKL????) and Robin nearly dying (we just went through that episode!)

So I'll just say, "gee, that's awful!"

:p

Snoopy, FYI and everyone else. There are 4 types of poisonous snakes found in Florida. Water Moccasin(cotton mouth), Coral Snake, Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake and the Pygmy Rattlesnake. We don't see them often her in Miami but have 1-2 incidents of snake bites reported each year. Up in the Panhandle where my in-laws live, they are seen in the road rather frequently and the is a huge pond near their house that is full of moccasins. Needless to say, I will not go walking in thier neighborhood! In the Central Florida area we are warned about poisonous snakes and alligators at our Florida Baptist Cnference Center but I have not yet seen one. If I had I wouldn't be going there interpreter training or not!

I think I saw that snake's cousin on my trip home a couple of years ago. I see this long fat (obviously) snake stretched out across my lane (and I mean stretched out across the lane). It was already dead but it was all I could do to keep my foot on the gas (I did lift my left foot) when I heard the bump, bump as I went over it.

I'm with you....EWWW!

Line up the coffins - delswife, snoopy and me!

So the big question is - did you run it over????

I like snakes but one that size up on a road would have me catching my breath!!!:earseek:

Yuck, yuck. I am PETRIFIED of snakes. Can't even stand to see pictures of them on television. Whenever we get the occasional black snake in the yard, I totally freak out. I refuse to go into our shed. DH has seen a snake in there once in a while.

I am very very afraid of snakes, big time! ::yes:: I can't even stand looking at them behind glass at the zoo, it's that bad. If I saw a snake on the road and I was in my car I would not get out. Someone would have to come and get me out of my car. And if I saw any size snake I think I would do this :scared1: :faint:

I touched a snake out there last year (probably the same one you did), and it was COLD!!! Ewww!! That experience had the opposite effect on me as it was probably supposed to have. Now I dislike snakes even more than I did before. I'm glad they exist as part of the "circle of life", but I don't want to have anything to do with them.

Jeez, I would've freaked too!

More snakes in the Florida Panhandle? Yikes, maybe we won't go back to Destin area, LOL

herc.

Snakes absolutely freak me out!! HATE THEM!! When I was about 12 or so I had an experience that to this day gives me the willies. I had cleaned my room because family was coming over (why clean it otherwise;) ) anyway when they got there I ran into my room and saw a poster on the floor, I went to pick it up and you guessed it!! there was a S N A K E curled up in it!! I ran through the house screaming bloody murder and jumped on top of my dad's truck cab and screamed until everyone came running. My dad and Uncle went to investigate and found the snake, my dad grabbed my mom's tongs and picked it up and brought it outside. My uncle kept saying over and over "It has a funny head, it has a funny head!!" Living in water mocassin and copperhead country a "funny head" meant poisonous!! S N A K E in MY bedroom!!!! Mom threw out the tongs and I refused to EVER clean my room again without someone being in there WITH me!!
So basically, yeah ::yes:: I hate snakes too and probably would have turned the car around and went another way.....

Well , if I saw a snake I wouldn't do anything, I would not be able to do anything because I would be right next to Delswife, Snoopy and Grinningghost. What a Dis Dead meet that would be, LOL.

Not to worry Mskanga! I'd grab you, Delswife, Snoopy and grinningghost with mom's tongs and hoist you up on dad's truck cab!
