Everything you need to know about WDW Christmas- Tips & Secrets

Can anyone tell me a little bit more about CP? I am debating whether or not to do a dinner package. Do you go to the show first and then dinner? Do you have to wait in line even if you have a reserved seat? Is the dinner package worth it?

I hate to post this question again, but I'm so confused. :confused3

Can anyone 100% confirm that Thursday, Dec.3rd is a MVMCP night?

It isn't listed on Allears, but maybe it's an error.

Someone posted awhile back that (last year ?) they ordered tickets for the party, but when they received them they were for the wrong night...and a night that there wasn't even a party! It was a big hassle b/c they went to re-order, it was sold-out.

I'm nervous and just don't want this to happen with the 3rd.

According to the WDW official site, December 3 is a party night.

I know that parks hours are not out yet, but can anyone tell me what time the fireworks were @MK during 12/26 - 1/2 in the past? Thanks!

Just a tip: ICE at Gaylord Palms Nov. 14-Jan. 3rd. Tickets on sale mid August.

We are going to be at Disney from 12/5 to 12/12 and I can't decide if we should spend the money for the Christmas Party at MK. That is an extra $150.00 for my family. Last year we were at Disney for 2 weeks (last wk October and 1st wk of November) and went to MNSSHP. Although I thought it was a lot of fun my the 5 year old slept through some of the best parts. I can't decide if I want to spend that much money again for her to not even be awake for the parage. Last year we didn't even do anything all day and got to MNSSHP until around 5:00 thinking that she would be awake for the entire event, but it didn't work. What are your thoughts. I would love to be convinced to spend the money and go. What makes this event worth going?

After Jan 3rd ALL the decor drops off fast

In Jan 2009, the castle lights were lit on Jan. 3 (Sunday), and dark on Jan. 6 (Tuesday).

Thanks, guys! I appreciate you taking the time to answer, though I wish I liked your answer better, lol! :goodvibes One question, do you know if they were up that Mon, or were you not in the park that evening? I might run over there that night if they were still up and the park was open late(probably an Epcot day).

Well, we love MVMCP! Now, we are older than your daughter so staying up isn't a problem here, in fact we prefer late nights to early morns! But, since your DD, now 6(?) is another yr older now, maybe she'll be able to stay up a bit later and even realize why she wants to stay up. The magic of Xmas is pretty enticing for kids for sure! Plus, Xmas is a magical time with all the beautiful decorations, and Santa, and the beautiful Castle dream lights, and the awesome parade, and so much more. For us, it just helps get us ready for Xmas, kind of kicks off our season and we're sad to miss the party this year. Otoh, it's $150 which is a lot, but otoh, it's only another $150, for lots of wonderful, Xmas magic! Kids really love Xmas, and I think even moreso than halloween, I mean kids seem to talk Xmas all year long, even watching Xmas videos in July. So I think she may relate to this even more than halloween. Plus, I myself, would find it hard to resist seeing the whole thing, after seeing some of the decorations that are already up, to not see the party and the parade would feel like I'm missing something. And, if she does fall asleep as visions of sugarplums dance in her head, which yes, would be frustrating, at least you two can still enjoy the party and the Xmas magic! So, my vote is to go for it! Good Luck! :santa:

I sure hope December 3rd is a party night because I have already bought the tickets for that night. I too saw Allears dates and was a little shocked that December 3rd was not on there. I will let you know when I receive them in the mail if the date was correct (bought through Disney online). Wish me luck.

Sorry, I wasn't there on that Monday (Jan. 5), so I don't know if they were lit or not. You may want to ask at your hotel; the concierge desk may know.

Thanks very much for answering! Yes, I'll have to ask at CBR, hopefully they will know for certain, and maybe will have longer dates for display! They did bring back Osborne lights earlier in Nov, Nov 10th this year, after waiting to turn on in last year till day after Thanksgiving.
Castle dream lights go up for MVMCP, it'd be nice to leave them up longer as they are so beautiful, though I'm guessing the 3rd is probably the last day. But, I can dream, right?

We're taking our first trip to Disneyworld Nov. 30- Dec. 4. The family knows we're going, but not when. I've managed to keep it all a secret so far! It is going to be so cool! There's DH (totally against the trip, bah humbug the whole way), me (My birthday is Dec. 3. A MVMCP as a gift to myself perhaps?), 1 son age 9, 1 daughter whose birthday is two weeks after our visit, 1 son (his birthday is Nov. 26), and my baby boy age 4. I'm telling them the day we leave!!! Awesome Christmas present to them!

Good for you!!! I have surprised our kids before and they LOVE it!!!!! You are gonna have to make sure you either video or take pics. It's sooooo cute!! My sons bday is the 4th!! Be sure and tell them where ever you eat that day and they will bring you a little cake or a cupcake with a candle or something!!!

If this has already been answered, I'm sorry and I don't know why I can't remember this either, but does anyone know if the Holiday fireworks start in Epcot when all the other Holiday things start. I haven't been there in the month of December since 2005 and the holiday fireworks in Epcot I can not remember seeing. Do you think maybe they weren't doing them then? We will be there Dec. 1-15 and I don't want to miss a trick.

My vote would be a no. We debated and debated weather or not to go to the MVMCP this year as well. It would have cost us an extra $200 which is even more than adding Park Hoppers to our passes. Basically, we felt that seeing a parade, a stage show, and a little bit extra fireworks finale just wasn't worth the extra money. And the cocoa and cookies didn't really sway our decision making. When we found out that after the 18th all park guests get to experience the parade, stage show, and Wishes Holiday fireworks without having to pay extra that pretty much sealed the deal for us. We did not feel that it was fair that just because we were going earlier in December that we should have to pay extra money to see those Holiday extras at MK. Plus, we felt that we would end up having to wait around a lot in order to get a good spot for the parade, stage show, and fireworks and that waiting around would not be a good use of our time when we are at Disney World. Of course a number of rides will be running, but we can go on the rides any time during normal park hours and EMH. Basically, we determined that we could think of much better things to spend our $200 on.

Here is another post that argues against the MVMCP:

Hi there,

I have not been to MVMCP so take my comments as such - this is the one thing I intend to skip. There are others on this board that swear that MVMCP it is wonderful, but on a whole I would say you would get a 50/50 split on whether it is worth it.

To me, there is so much christmas stuff to see that is included in your regular ticket...MVMCP will cost me over $200 extra for my party, and will give me:
1) The christmas parade - the one thing I would like to see - but I can't justify $200 for it.
2) Mickey Christmas Stage show - don't mind it I miss it.
3) Christmas Wishes Fireworks - Similar to regular wishes - but bigger finale - worth xtra $$? I don't think so. DW and I are going to have dinner at the California Grille at the contemporary to see this. (12/15)
4) Meeting characters in christmas attire - YAWN
5) Hot Coacoa and a cookie - I'll wait until 12/21 thanks.

In addition, our DD6 is an "early to bed" type - it is unlikely she would handle staying up until Mid-night that well. Also, it is the last week of the party - likely to mean it will be pretty busy. So, overall, I don't consider it a "must see". I certainly don't think I would bother with just your DD2 - while she might appreciate the parade - I bet she would enjoy Spectromagic 10 times as much. And the fireworks she wouldn't be able to to tell the difference between regular wishes. I agree, that she would probably be more "awed" by the Osbourne lights.

Instead, go to MK on Monday (12/14). Instead of an 8:15 PM parade and 9:30 PM fireworks (for MVMCP), you'll get a 7 PM parade and 8 PM fireworks! (Based on last year's schedule.) The park will probably still be open until 11 PM thanks to EMH, and you didn't pay anything extra. Plus, you can say HI :yay: to me and my family, as we will be doing the same thing celebrating my 40th birthday! (Look for my orange camelback with the LGMH.)

SkierPete

PS: I am speculating EMH on Monday, 12/14, but this is very very likely. Normally they do EMH on Sundays, but when there is a hard ticket event on Sunday...like there is on 12/13, they normally bump the EMH to Monday. (I have it all on a spreadsheet - trust me. :thumbsup2)

Just a tip: ICE at Gaylord Palms Nov. 14-Jan. 3rd. Tickets on sale mid August.

I saw pictures of this it looks amazing!

Questions:

1) How much is it?
2) How long is it? (Like how many hours can you stay, is it all day or just at night?)
2) We'll be staying at Pop Century but we won't have a car. On Googlemaps, it looks like a short walk to Gaylord Palms (maybe a mile?). Am I underestimating the distance?
3) Would it be possible to take a Gaylord Palms shuttle from a park to see the lights, then take it back to the park afterwards and ride Disney transportation back to Pop?

Thanks!!

I am also goin to the world in Dec for the 1st time. We usually go around Oct. so I'm excited 2 c the park decorate for somethin other than Halloween. I've read most of this thread and can't wait 2 some of the things ya'll have mentioned. Thanks everyone!

Okay, I'm really going back and forth on MVMCP. How long is the parade? What is different about Holiday Wishes? Christmas music? Different fireworks? How long is the stage show? Is there anything else besides characters dressed up?

Okay, I'm really going back and forth on MVMCP.

Me too. It's just me and my husband (no kids). And we could see Holiday Wishes from our balcony. So the question is, is the parade and the show at the castle (and possibly "Twas The Night") worth the $110 it's gonna cost? We're not likely to go to dance parties and story telling.

To top it off, my husband hates crazy, pushy crowds, which is why we usually go during value season.

When I thought this was truly a limited attendance event, I was all for it. But the crowd reports from last year are turning me off.

Oh well. Decisions, decisions....
