Everything you need to know about MagicBands.

That's a good question, being a disneystore that isn't in the disney park I would question how fast the magicband stock rotates so I wouldn't be surprised if the older style is still on the shelf since the new ones aren't that old and don't need to be rotated for battery yet.

If the ride photos are important, I would get some new ones otherwise the old ones should work just fine. If your going to buy some, I would wait until your at property when the selection is much more diverse to choose from. Your old bands will still function for anything you touch the band to make work it's just going to be a couple rides and their photo/videos where it won't work.

Thank you Accident! I think it will be more fun to let the kids pick theirs out at the park too

Thanks for this great thread. I did a search but can't find the answer to 2 questions. If I link my Disney Visa to my magic band, will I automatically get the 10% discount where applicable or do I still need to pay with the actual card

I'm not sure the answer on this one. My assumption is you probably need to tell them and show the card even if your going to room charge it.

Also my husband wan s to reuse his band he purchased at the 2015 SWW, I understand the battery might be a problem, but if that is still working what do we need to do to make sure ADRs FP etc are linked to that band

He should be fine. If he's riding with someone else from the family/traveling group on everything then even if the band is an issue, theirs is probably fine and you'll still get the picture. all other features of the band will still work no problem even if the battery is dead.

The battery is only necessary for long range functions like ride photos. Nothing is "on" a Magic Band - as long as the band is linked to his MDE account (which I would assume it is since you said he wants to reuse it, which means he's already used it) it will access everything in his MDE account.

Thanks accident and siskaren. We are leaving in 40 days, I'll report back what I find out about the Visa discount

I would assume that you would definitely have to show the card because there's no way they have of knowing what card you're using.

My DD20 is a HUGE Little Mermaid fan. Do they still have Little Mermaid Magic bands in the parks or stores? If not I need to make sure I purchase one before we go.

I haven't looked for that and it's a little bit of a risk to say yes, especially since they can change any day so yes today might be incorrect when you get there. Check the shop disney parks mobile phone app, you might find it in there but that app isn't 100% of what is sold on property. You also sometimes have the option to ship it directly to your house if you want it early and find it.

Thanks! I think your right I should order ahead of time to be on the safe side.

Has anyone tried 3D printing their own MB sliders? I was looking at the kids' Makerbot the other day and wondering if anyone had pattern.

damn... I've been eying this newer 3d printer company that makes a reasonable cost desktop mini unit and I finally talked myself out of it thinking it was just a fad thing for me at this moment...

this idea changes a lot of things :)

I've never seen any 3d printer files for sliders but I'm sure you just sparked a lot of people to try.

EDIT TO ADD: Grrr and they made a half off bundle. ok I'm getting a 3d printer now..

Have read conflicting information. Do you need to have a pin number to use the magic band to pay for a meal with meal plan credits? Related: are all magic bands associated with a room meal plan able to be used for payment with meal plan credits (a child's, for example).

Merged you to the MB thread where @Accident has confirmed you need a Pin for the Dining Plan. And MB will provide the link to Dining Plan credits.

I have been trying for several weeks to change the pin in my MDE (don't know what number is in there now); have tried different browsers and also PC and Mac and nothing works; always get an error message. Technical support can't help: they say they are having problems with this, and they told me I did not need the pin to use the magic band with the meal plan. We intend to check in on line and go directly to the parks where we need to use the band for the dining plan. I don't know what I should do.

The Pin info was recently posted on the previous page by Accident. You may want to ask this on the Dining Board: Subforum for Disney Dining Plan. That should have the latest info for you. Hope you get some answers before your trip. :)

Thanks accident and siskaren. We are leaving in 40 days, I'll report back what I find out about the Visa discount
Found the answer on the Chase website. The card does have to be shown/used to get the discount. It's understandable but also a bummer since one of the best things about the MB is not having to carry around cash/credit cards. Oh we'll...minor inconvenience

I have a question and I'm not sure if this is the right place to post it... I'm from Canada so our magic bands are to be picked up at the resort. I am doing a split stay at the swan for the first three nights and contemporary for the last six nights. Am I able to pick up my magic bands from contemporary early to use during the first half of my trip?

I have a question about an old non expiring ticket that belongs to my niece and old magic band attactted to it. I had Disney put her and her ticket onto my MDE account, so I can make fast passes for her.
Will her band still work from 2013 with that ticket?
She has lost the actual ticket, but Disney told me she had 5 days left on it.
So will I have to go to guest relations and have them print a physical ticket? Or will her magic band let her into the park? I'm thinking no, because her band was set up on her MDE account. I tried entering her band number to her ticket on my MDE and it said band # all ready used on another account.
Any thoughts on what I need to do?

I have tried this in the past and was told that you would need to charge on the card and not charge on the magic band to get the discount. Due to wanting the discount we just went ahead and used the card.
