Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Meal Vouchers

Great Post MRS AR. We have purchased 24 QC vouchers and about 6 of the VKL vouchers. We plan on doing one meal at RFC at AK so I am so glad to hear about your experience. I can't wait to use ours at RFC. My kids love seafood and this is probably the only way to make it affordable.

Thanks,

Pam

I'll be staying at Saratoga Springs in October & I was wondering if the Q&C vouchers will be good at there food court (Artists Palette).

I stayed at SSR last week. I used 4 QC vouchers at Artist Pallette during my 4 night stay. They are accepting the vouchers.

QC Vouchers-Yes you will save money using the QC Vouchers at Artist Pallete. I saved my receipts, but these prices are approx.:

GrabnGo Chef Salad w/dressing $6.89
20 oz. Bottled OJ $2.99
Choc. Cake $3.56
Fruit Cup $2.79

Total with Tax $17.00 Savings of $5.50

The most expensive entree is around $9.

Artist Pallete does not serve Hamburgers or fries. They did have flat bread pizza's made to order and packaged salads and dessert display. They also have a couple of daily specials.

OK - at the Brown Derby, if you are using 2 VKL vouchers, can you get the Cobb Salad for 2 if you use that as the appetizer on both?

Also, is there ANY chance they would let an adult use a kid's voucher there and just get the chicken breast that is on the kids menu? That is what I would really like!!!

Never mind part 1 - I was looking at dinner instead of lunch. But still have the 2nd question!

Jenny>> I was wondering about that question too, and since no one answered, tell them I said it was OK! LOL (just kidding folks!)

Seriously, does anyone know if you can use a child's VKL voucher as an adult and order off the child's menu?

Debbie

I'm going to try posting this on a separate thread and see if someone can help us!

Here's my voucher report for our 1 week trip, returned last Sunday night. We must eat a lot more than everyone else because DH, DS, and I used 2 vouchers for most meals. I noticed a lot of people share 1 voucher for a family but we love to eat LOL!

Overall, I'm very happy we used the vouchers. I found it to be a great deal at most places. The only place I wouldn't use it again is Pecos Bill's. Also, I tried to use a QC voucher at France in Epcot but they wouldn't give me a side item.

I have a question about using vouchers at Sunshine Seasone Food Fair at Epcot. I read that there are different counters here and I want to know if the voucher can only be used at one counter (which makes the most sense to me) or could you order a sandwich at one counter and get your dessert at another? I was not sure if Sunshine Fair was one big food court or if they all do their own transactions.

I ate at the Sunshine Food Faire several times using my vouchers. That food court is set up as a set of "mini food stations". Each has its own specialty. I had the ribs from the bbq food station plus whatever else the voucher allowed me (I think it was corn, a cookie, and a drink...Then, at another visit, I tasted the vegetarian lasagna at the paste station and ate that every other time I went to the Land ...It also came with a side (breadstick), drink, and cookie or brownie...don't remember... At one meal I accidentally dumped an entire soft drink on poor Cash's head (he was sleeping at my feet) and the staff were quick to replace it, no charge, and get him a bowl of water. I don't think the Food Faire is set up to let you browse from station to station with a voucher...They each have a cashier and own menu.

So many interesting posts - so confusing with all the locations to eat -

Can anyone provide some of the better locations to eat (value based using the Q&C vouchers) heading to WDW with 2 teenagers - one DS 18 (will eat for ever) and one DD 17 (won't eat much)

Trying to save some money so ordered 16 vouchers for our week stay coming up in a couple weeks.

Thanks
Don

Hello,
Just back from WDW and we used lots of vouchers. At some point I will dig out my journal and be able to give more details. I can say that we never needed to 'look' for a place to spend them, that we always saved a little and often a lot using them. We used about 15 Q&C and 3 VCL vouchers. We used the VKL vouchers at the Rain Forest Cafe and saved a ton of money. 3 adults and 2 kids had way too much food with 2 adult and 1 child voucher. The waiter told us that they were treated the same way as 'wishes' (which he said was new). We were told we could order off the adult menu with the child's voucher and were able to order the Rainbow slushie in keepsake mug with the vouchers (kids loved this). At Mara (AKL) we used several Q&C's and were always allowed to order the frozen drinks with them, as well as a side dish (even when the plate had fries on it), at B&C we were told the fries were the side (and the waiter was grumpy too) but we had too much to eat any way because the ice creams are huge (also because this was the first place we used vouchers and DH thought I was insane when I said we could split a meal, after this one time he was fine with splitting). We also found the Q&C's a good savings in EPCOT and were always given an extra side (when we wanted one). We also used them at MGM, and at MK. At AK we used the AK meal things that come with a full meal plus a drink and ice cream later (sold in the park I think $5.99 child/ 11.99 Adult) and we found those to be a good deal too.

I noticed from AllEarsNet.com's menus that the RFC lists the childrens' menu for kids 12 and under. Can you use a child's VKL for a 12yo at RFC? I know that the actual vouchers only say "child" on them and do not list an age. Any thoughts or experiences on this? DS is 12 and if I only need a child's voucher for him, it could shave a few $$ off the cost of lunch that day.

I'm not sure, but I can tell you they never asked my son's age (he is 9). I doubt the server would care, they get tipped on the amount you order. Our server told us they have been told to treat the VKL vouchers the same as 'wishes' now. I know with those a wish is a wish no matter who uses it.

Which RainForest Cafe were you at? Are they good for both DD and AK locations?

thanks-

We just returned from WDW and used 12 Q&C vouchers. I'm sorry to say I wasn't good at all about saving receipts (usually I am, I don't know where my head was) but I'll do the best I can to relay our experience with them.

Electric Umbrella - Epcot
DD14 and I shared:
Bacon double cheeseburger w/fries $7.19
Lg. drink $2.29
Cheesecake w/strawberry sauce $3.49
(Purchased an extra bun for 70 cents)

DD & I were satisfied sharing and the dessert was a treat, but not something we would have normally gotten.

DH & DS16 shared:
Roast beef sandwich $6.99
This came with a small cole slaw.
Lg. drink $2.29
Chocolate cream pie $2.59

DH & DS were still hungry after sharing their meal. The cole slaw would have been enough for one person but not enough for two. I wouldn't use vouchers here again.

Beaches & Cream
DD & I shared:
Double cheeseburger w/bacon - approx. $10.39
Onion rings instead of fries
Drink - $1.99
No Way Jose - $7.99

We ordered one extra drink, which they didn't charge us for so we left an additional tip. The meal came out already split on two plates and we each got 4 onion rings.

DH & DS shared:
Prime Rib sub - $10.99 (a lot of fatty pieces)
Onion rings instead of fries (4 each)
Drink - $1.99
No Way Jose - $7.99

We were satisfied and were able to finish all our meal. Its definitely changed since we used vouchers here 2 years ago when you used to get a ton of food. Also we asked if we could get smoothies for our drinks and were told no. We would use vouchers here again but only if we were in the mood for the large ice cream desserts.

Pepper Market
DD & I shared:
Wet burrito - $9.95
Side of fries - $2.50
Smoothie - $3.95
Cinnamon roll - $2.99

DH & DS shared:
Ribeye steak w/veggies & potato - $17.95
Side of nachos - ?
Smoothie - $3.95
Cinnamon roll - $2.99

We showed the vouchers to our server and asked for clarification on what we could get as a side. She said we could get a salad, nachos, whatever, and I asked about the ribeye for instance, and did the veggies & potato count as the side. She said no. We wanted to get the nachos but I didn't see side nachos on the menu, only the market nachos. So I went to the cashier and asked her if there was a side order of nachos and would that count as the side on the voucher. She said yes. When it came time to check out we went to the same cashier and she said she forgot to mention to us that if a meal came with a side that was all we were entitled to. I told her the server had told us differently and she said since I had come to her for clarification before we ordered and she forgot to mention that part she'd just fix it but to know for the future. She was very nice about it and said it was hard because everyone interprets the vouchers differently.

So my advice for the Pepper Market is if there is ever any question as to what you are entitled to ask the cashier, not the server, since they are ultimately the ones to settle everything up at the end!

As for the value of the vouchers here, it was very good and everyone was satisfied.

Since this is getting so long I'm going to post this and type the rest in a new post below!

More on our experiences with Q&C vouchers:

I had planned on using two vouchers at Pecos Bill in MK but when we got there and looked at the menu we decided not to. We still shared meals (double bacon cheeseburger) and purchased two extra buns and got one lg. and one small drink. Our total came to about $21 and we didn't miss not having dessert at all.

I didn't have vouchers with me when we went to Blizzard Beach because I read they were selling something similiar to the AK meal vouchers. When I couldn't find this anywhere I asked a cashier and was told this was a temporary thing they tried but it was discontinued. I think the vouchers would have been a really good value here.

Pepper Market
Since we didn't use vouchers at Pecos Bill we had enough vouchers for everyone to have their own for tonight's dinner.

DD got:
Wet burrito - $9.95
Soft drink - $1.99
Cake - $3.29 approx.

DS got:
Chinese sampler - $15.95
Orange juice - $2.89
Cheesecake - $3.29 approx.

DH got:
Ribeye steak (asked for steak only, no veggie & potato)
Side salad - $3.99
Soft drink - $1.99
Sweet roll - $2.99

I got:
Chinese sampler - $15.95 (DS got rice with his, I ordered mine 5 min. after his and was told it didn't come with rice!)
Soft drink - $1.99
Sweet roll - $2.99

We all took our desserts back to the room and saved them for a snack that night. We had a lot of food but enjoyed not having to figure out the whole sharing thing.

Pepper Market
DD and I shared:
2 topping pizza - $7.99
Side nachos - ?
Soft drink - $1.99
Strawberry shortcake - $3.29

Even though this wasn't the most expensive option for the voucher we enjoyed this a lot. I ate the nachos and DD ate the pizza. Its a large pizza and she wasn't able to finish it all.

DH & DS shared:
Wet burrito - $9.95
Soft drink - $1.99
Strawberry cheesecake - $3.29

Overall I would definitely use vouchers again. We were staying at Coronado Springs so it was convenient to use them there. We arranged our itinerary to eat lunch at the Pepper Market when we'd come back to the hotel for a mid-day swim.

I might or might not use them again at standard counter service eateries. We found the double burgers and extra buns to be just fine without the dessert. I did like having the meals prepaid.
This was a short trip so we never made it to AK. Next time I hope to try the VKL vouchers at RFC.

Also I would probably order a few more vouchers next time so DH & DS didn't have to share so much. Sometimes it was okay but most of the time they could have eaten more. DD and I didn't really have food left over from sharing but we were satisfied.

I hope this info is of some help to someone!

Hi

I am going through receipts and thought I would post them for you guys.
Sometimes we saved a good bit and sometimes a little, but you can see for yourself. I don't think we ever ordered the most expensive options.

Beaches and Cream. I don't think our server was happy to see the vouchers, he was not very friendly to us and said 'no' to us subsituting onion rings and didn't let us order frozen drinks. In his defense we were there May 31st, so he might just have been going by the old rules? Also he was good about getting my son dairy free icecream. For anyone with milk allergies he told us all WDW sit downs were now going to have Rice Dream on hand (and all the ones we went to did).

We used 3 vouchers and ordered a child and an adult entree's and an extra drink for 5 people. My husband didn't think there was enough to share and my younger son has food allergies and can't split meals. This was too much food by a little.

Vocher receipt:

Lemonade $1.99
Coke $1.99
Coke $1.99
w/syrup $0.29
Chicken Sandwich $8.99 (very good)
Single Burger $6.99
Veggie Burger $6.99
Banana Split $7.99 (daughter and husband split this and couldn't finish it off)
Mud Slide $7.99 (yum :D I split this with my teenage son and we didn't finish it)
Strawberry Shortcake w/Rice Dream $5.99

Tax $3.33

Total was $54.53

We also ordered a Rootbeer, a Kids Meal Grilled Cheese, and another Veggie Burger for $15.52. Even though the server wasn't great we left him a $7 tip because he did come through with the Rice Dream and it was our first meal in WDW. Nothing was ordered because of the voucher, this is exactly what we would have had anyway.

Pecos Bills- 1 voucher- We used this as a meal for our son who had slept through breakfast and a snack for our daughter who is always the first person awake in our family.

Burger w/fries $5.59
Chocolate cream pie $3.49
32oz Lemonade $2.29
tax $0.74
Total $12.11

In this case we might have just had my daughter have a snack from the backpack instead of the pie, but it was good and she was sure happy to have it!

Tusker House- 1 voucher (also had an adult and a child meal deal)

Chicken sandwich $6.99 (this is one of the least expensive options)
Lemonade $1.99
Carrot Cake $3.29
Tax $0.80
Total $13.07

On a side note- the AK meal+ certificates they sell in the parks are a good deal. My DH and I split a Veggie sandwich and lemonade w/one and DD had Mac-n-cheese. We used the 'plus' part another day for Icecreams and sodas while we watched flights of wonder. We saved over $5 with the two of these.

We also used VKL vouchers at the Rainforest Cafe (I didn't enjoy this place, I lost my voice -way too loud for us), and Q&C's at Everything Pop (was a good deal sometimes, other times break even), Mara (very good deal here), and at the counter service in Morocco (Very good deal, we forgot to bring vouchers our first day and our total was $18 for a plate, a drink, and a dessert) and at Backlot in MGM (the peach cobbler was very good).

All in all we saved a good bit with these and got to try a lot of desserts we might not of, I will use them next year if I can.

I just read a comment about the VKL being treated as "wishes" What does that mean? What is the difference?

With VKL, with the kids, can we order appetizers off the regular menu? I'm specifically thinking ESPN Zone, Sci Fi Diner and RFC. I think I've read many times it's okay at RFC, how about the others?

We are planning to go to the Sci Fi Diner.....I'm thinking if I ordered VKL for the kids (3 of them), we could share one appetizer, and then I could eat 2 appetizers for lunch (which is what I like to do anyway). Then we can share dessert

I want to send "the guys" to ESPN Zone for lunch, and thought again that if we buy a few kids vouchers, the guys can share appetizers, and dessert.

Also, if a restaurant offers soup, does that count as an appetizer?

Julia

We just got back, last night, and used Q & C vouchers at Beaches n Cream. I would definitely use them again! We were able to order anything off the menu, substituting onion rings for fries (even though our burgers came with fries), any drink, including smoothies and shakes. I guess it depends on who your server is. We just happened to get the same woman server, the times we ate there, and each time we could order whatever we wanted...other than the Kitchen Sink. My DD and I shared our meals, which was brought out on two plates already separated (which was nice). They all ordered shakes, I got a Diet Coke and only had to pay for that. I didn't keep receipts, but I remember, one day, the total coming to $67, which we used three vouchers for, and I had to pay $2 something for my soda. Great deal!

we're staying at the Polynesian, any experiences there?

Thank you so much for sharing experiences, as this is our first trip I've read all the posts, but am very appreciative of the current posts!! Esp the information on sharing a meal, I was hesitant at first . After we decided we could afford to do Disney, I went searching, planning, etc, and I showed dh this thread, and some of the specifics, he said go for it... then I read more thouroughly that's when I discovered its not only possible to share a meal, but a definate - thanks for sharing specific information on experiences as well as menus and pricing!!

Now, I will search more, but I'm not sure I understand where Beaches and Cream is, or the Pepper Market, but I see these posted time and time again (along with RFK - and I wouldnt have EVEN considered eating at RFK even tho its our anniversary, but thanks to your posts I'm going to consider it!!)

Our DD is 7 and is such a finicky eater, maybe she'll eat, usually only unhealthy foods, so I usually pack her food and just buy sodas or fries... again, your information confirms this policy for me!!
