Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Meal Vouchers

Eeyore45, the Pepper Market is at the Coronado Springs Resort (not too far from Blizzard Beach and in the AK resort area).

Beaches & Cream is at the Beach Club Resort and convenient to visit a day when you are touring Epcot. If you go out the back entrance of Epcot by WS, you can catch the boat which will take you to the Beach Club (and back)! Have fun planning! The vouchers really do help a budget!!

Wishes are what they call the package add ons. If you book a Dream Maker package (room plus UPH tickets) you can upgrade to silver ( or higher) plans. They give you wishes (I think two X number of nights) that you get 'spend' on things like meals, spa services, water craft rentals, etc. When wishes are used for meals it is like the vouchers in that they cover multiple courses and a drink. The VKL vouchers being treated as wishes means there will be less needing to check with managers about what can be ordered. This should make it more consistent, I think.
If indeed the VKL vouchers are treated like wishes everywhere then you would be able to order from an adult menu with a child voucher everywhere.

Beaches and Ceam
We had trouble finding it our first time. It is right next to the pool at the Beach Club. I never have found ang signs from the Boardwalk, but inside the resort itself there are lots of signs to point the way so if you have trouble seeing it just pop into the lobby and look for a sign! If you like icecream this place is well worth the effort, we love it!

If you can find the pool, you can find Beaches n Cream. Just walk around the pool, Beaches n Cream is attached to the resort, opposite the pool entrance. Have fun!

I just found two more receipts and thought I would post them. I know I really liked seeing real life examples when I was looking into getting them.

Mara-
We used 2 vouchers and fed 2 adults and 2 children.

2 slices of cake $7.18
(we had a sampler with 3 zebra domes and 2 other little things, the zebra domes were good but they are even better at Boma, our second was an Apple cobbler that was fantastic, we saved that one for a bedtime snack)
2 Smoothies $6.78
(yummy, the four of us split them- everyone but me liked the 'red' one best)
Soup and Salad $6.79
(It was smoked tomato soup, very good. The salad was huge.)
Chicken Strips $6.79 (3 larger strips, came with fries)
side of Mac-n-cheese (very good) $2.49
We were offered a second side but had so much food already that we skipped it.

Total w/tax $31.98

Everyone ate very well and was full and we took the second dessert back to our room. It is sort of hard to decide to eat at Mara with Boma and Jiko (sp?) right around the corner.

If you are staying at AKL don't miss the "Taste of Africa" tour. Ask if you don't see it posted. While we were there it was at 4pm daily. It is free and you get to tour Boma and Jiko. In Jiko they let use taste three breads and three sauces (on the menu it is called Taste of Africa) and at Boma we had soup and zebra domes! Our kids loved it.

Tangierine Cafe (Morocco)

I knew I would find one from here. My 17 year old son ate there four or five times with vouchers.

Chicken Platter $8.95
---this is a large serving of chicken and 3 'salads'
Side of Cous Cous $1.95
Cake $3.95 (They have a great selection)
Coke $1.95

Total w/tax $17.90

Another night my husband and I split the same meal. It was plenty of food (although I must add we were eating our way around the showcase that day)

"At Mara (AKL) we used several Q&C's and were always allowed to order the frozen drinks with them"

Where did you find the frozen drinks at Mara, we just got back and didn't find any there. Nor did we find any orange juice. It was very under staffed when we were there.
Thanks.
I will post where we used our vouchers later this week. But we did really well at Rainforest, Beaches and Cream and Pecos Bill.

I had ordered my vouchers and a whole bunch of other things from hotwiresavingsclub.com and they pretty lost lost our package! It was taking way over 7-10 business days and I got the tracking # and its pretty much lost somewhere. If I haven't received anything.. Who is responsible? Hotwire or DHL? I can't seem to get through to anyone there. Any suggestions? And this is my first time posting.. How sad...

liz mommy,

did you use a credit card? maybe you can dispute the charges on your bill since you did not receive it? there has to be something you can do!

Frozen drinks at Mara are to thr left of the main counter before the pastery section. They have two flavors, both good. They are NOT self serve, they are behind the counter. We don't drink OJ so I don't know about that.
We didn't feel it was under staffed so much as the staff was unattentive. Three or four of them would be back by the grill talking while we were jumping up and down trying to get their attention. I think we all should make a point of writing and or calling Disney about this. I loved AKL and we plan to go back. It would be nice if they got Mara up to Disey quality in the service area. I found the food excellent at Mara, but the selection is limited. I think they want to make sure Boma and Jiko are the main choices for where to eat...

Does anyone have any advice about the Lunch vouchers? For me, they seem to be a better value than the Q&C. Seems like you could save more money and enjoy a sit down restaurant.

We are thinking of using them at Le Cellier, CRT, RFC (thanks for all the tips here) and Concourse Steakhouse. Comparing the menus, they appear to be a good value if you use them at most sit down locations; however, you don't here about these as often.

Maybe it is because we like to have a sit down during lunch and a snack for dinner. :D

Any advice about these?:Pinkbounc

Tony, we've used quite a few Q&C vouchers but never purchased any VKL. Next time we are getting a couple for RFC though.

But for us, even though the VKL vouchers are a good deal, we don't normally spend $60+ on lunch (and that would be 4 people sharing 2 vouchers). So its not really saving money if its a LOT more than we would normally spend. Maybe others feel that way and that's why we don't hear as much about them.

I would love to know if anyone has gotten a good deal with the VKL at 50's PTC though. My kids want to eat there. I looked at the menu and it doesn't seem like a great value, but you could break even I think.

Liz - it makes sense if you don't normally spend that much money for lunch, then it is costing you more! With it being just DH and I, we would use just 1 voucher for both of us and an extra entree or appetizer to round out the meal if we were really hungry.

I think it would be nice to know that no matter what we wanted to eat, it is paid for (pre-paying meals). I figured that if the appetizer, entree, dessert and drink total around $25.50 (before tax), then you break even. For the Q&C, the meal, drink and dessert needs to total around $10.75 to break even. Hopefully that will help you decide if 50's is a good value.

we used them on our trip last Jan..Lecellier, Brown derby and RFC. all good values . as 2 adults with normal appeties we split the meals and felt it was a great value. we had plenty to eat( full but not stuffed) except stuffed at rfc ( food not as good there as the other 2 but fine, like an average rest.)
we then used the q/c for dinners at some of the resorts ( pop, coronado but usally not on the same day we used the kvl) and felt we got our money's worth there also. if we hadn't hit ghiradelli's for sundaes so often :o we would have spent about 450 for food for 11 days ( 3 meals per day, 2 adults) we plan on using both again in November. those sundaes and other totally indulgent desserts put us over our food bill by 50!

reading a few of the other comments I just thought I'd add...lunch is way cheaper than dinner so we always eat our larger meal then ( at wdw, unless we want to go to someplace that only serves dinner of course) plus it is a really nice way to relax and rest your feet...plus the rest. lines are usually short ( although we go off season anyway, that may not apply other times)

Because I can't help myself from planning, it's hwlps the time pass to we are there, I put together a real basic excel spreadsheet to help with figuring if Q&C vouchers will be good for you.

There really is enough info here already to decide but this could help.

If you enter price of meal it will automatically figure tax and tip and the give you total as well as +/- for the Q&C voucher.

Anyone interested, email.

I would love to order some vouchers however, being Canadian we can't join any of the clubs. We are a group of 11 going for my sisters wedding and we would like several vouchers. One diser is kind enough to order some for me and I was wondering if anyone else had some they weren't using or would order a few extra when placing their order. I could pay you either paypal or send a money order.

TIA for any help you can offer.

Has anyone ordered any of vouchers to be delivered to the UK? I've contacted hotwire and they state that only a valid email address is needed to join but they did not state if they'd post them to the UK. I've asked them to clarify. I've seen various vouchers for sale on Ebay but they are so over priced!

have not tried it but wonder if you could get them shipped to the resort itself? it may have to be shipped to the address on the card you use, not sure.

No, they won't ship to resort. As you said vouchers must be shipped to to the address on the card.

REH- they will not ship to the UK either. :( , In the fine print somewhere in the website it states "To US residents only." Although you only need an email to join, your order doesn't even get processed if there's an "internationally" address.

Last year, I tried 5 different ways to get vouchers and the only way I finally got them, was thru a US friend ordering me some.

Just wanted to share with you that I ordered my vouchers Sunday and got them today (firday). I bought 12 cause we have a 4 day pass. Its great with the restaurants listed right on the back and they are nice and sturdy not chincey paper. I think this is going to turn out to be a great deal even to have to sign up for hotwire. I may even when we return buy the remainder 8 and sell them on ebay to try and make up some money back. Trust me they are a wee bit overpriced on ebay.

Also a funny note, before I found this board I had heard about the meal vouchers and on ebay alone people actually sell for 2.95 information on how to get these tickets, so basically in a nut shell I got vacuumed in and bought it for an email that told me the two websites where you can buy them and the places you can use the vouchers, talk about people really wanting to make a buck...........LOL. LESSON LEARNED............they got me!!!!!
