So looks unlikely if we hop to MK at 2pm that there will be vq for Tron (tho we will try)..is the scenario different if we just pay for ILL? Will we have a significantly better chance to ride it, and is it still the case where I cannot buy it until we enter MK at 2? Thx!
If staying "onsite" you can buy an ILL for Tron at 7:00 AM. If staying "offsite" you can buy it when MK opens (usually 9:00). Lately, they usually sell out for the day sometime in the afternoon, although it is sometimes in the morning.

Ok thanks, we are onsite, so maybe I will just buy at 7 instead of risking not getting at 2..will I have the option to choose a time after 2pm?

Yes, you can choose from available times. At 7:00, most, if not all, times should be available.

Edit: Since you're starting your day in another park, your available times will all be at 2:00 or later. The system won't let you book a time before 2:00.

Just be sure to do the gotg VQ first as that’ll go quick

Also, even if you buy the ILL, you can still try for the VQ if it’s still active when you arrive at MK, giving the chance to ride twice.

So just to be super-duper sure and clear: you can buy ILL for Tron or GotG even if you start in another park? And it will just automatically kick you back to 2pm or later for the selection times?

I'm staying onsite for a quick trip with a friend in August and really want to make sure she gets to experience GotG. We only have one afternoon/evening at EPCOT though so I'd rather just buy ILL for my own peace of mind. And if we do get the VQ at 2pm, that will just be a bonus!

Does this make most sense at 7am for Epcot start and hop to MK

VQ for GoG
G+ for Test Track
ILL for Tron after 2pm

or

VQ for Gog
ILL for Tron after 2pm
G+ for Test Track

For clarity, if you’re staying on site and have park hoppers, you can book ILL for any park at 7am, up to 2 ILL per day. Off site has to wait for park to open.

You get to choose your time, so just pick an after 2pm time.

I’d probably check for test track just to get as early as possible, as I’m sure you’ll want to use before 2pm. If you have another person in your group, it might be best to have them try for the test track right at 7am. Also, if you get a higher number for Guardians, you may want to look at buying that ILL for an early time just to ensure you can get on. Might want to check thrill data before you go to see what group #’s are typically called before 2pm

Sorry, never done ILL before, when I buy I can the approx time, but will still be put in a boarding group? We would be fine with any time between 2 and close really. And yes will be onsite.

TYSM! I'm sure it will work out, I am just a super-planner and like to cover all bases. (Some might call it "anxious" lol.)

Buying an ILL and joining a boarding group are 2 separate things. Buying an ILL is for a specific time and you can go anywhere from the time you selected to an hour later with grace periods on either side and you go through the line quickly, like a fast pass.

The virtual queue or boarding group gives an approximate return time, if you get in. It’s free to use. But it’s basically like a pass to join a “standby” line. There’s not a standby you can join without it, it just can take 30-60 minutes to get on the ride with the boarding group. Once your boarding group number is called, you have an hour return window to make it to the line.

You can buy ILL at 9am (7am if staying on property) no matter where your reservation is for anytime after 2pm.

Petunia had said she was going to try for the VQ for Guardians (GoG) and to buy an ILL for Tron. I suspect that reference to a "higher number for Tron" (my emphasis above) should be a higher boarding group number for Guardians. Shouldn't it?

Thanks you are correct. Fast typing 🤦‍♂️

Hi! I have not been since 2021
Just helped SIL get Tron BG 30
What is estimated return time for that? And wait in line time?

Thanks!

Do they start calling boarding groups during early magic hours? Or even before? We have boarding group 5. Epcot has early entry at 8:30, regular park opening 9:00. Do they start calling at 8:30? Or closer to 9? Thanks
ETA. Checked MDE at 8:49 And group had been called with return time by 9:40. I didn’t get a notification, but assume called at 8:40. So before official park opening .

According to this it's 10:15ish but she should still keep an eye on the app. Average wait varies but it took me 45 min, heard of it taking others longer.

It can change from day to day so there really isn't a simple answer to that question. You're best to keep an eye on MDE as it will show you the current, anticipated return time - which will change.

Not sure if these were mentioned in the previous pages, but about how long is the wait usually for Tron and Guardians using the VQ? Nervous about a boarding group call time conflicting with ADRs.
