Thanks so much for the heads up! I did end up calling today. I had to move heaven & earth to modify the AP park reservation to MK on 11/9 however . Even though Sat 11/9 was showing “available” for MK on the park reservation calendars, it would NOT let me modify. I called tech and they had the same problem. They told me that they would have to cancel my Hollywood Studios for that day first before they could try to book MK , and they couldn’t guarantee me that I would get MK. So strange. However, I rolled the dice, they tried it and it all worked out. I actually modified the DHS to Monday the 11th (which had availability and was able to do that on my own). I’m guessing park reservations may be almost sold out at MK for Saturday the 9th, so maybe they are managing it carefully? Really glad I looked into this today or it may have been too late.

OP is very knowledgeable about park reservations and, explanations about rules are in post 1. You took the conversation to EE which has nothing to do with park reservations.

Their questions have been about changing park reservations and if reservations are filling up. Those are valid questions and welcome here.

I don't understand why you need a theme park reservation when you are staying at a WDW resort with an AP? This is essentially a date based trip? It's not like you can go to the theme parks the day after check out without a reservation?
What is the rationale? You can now move from the reserved park to another one after you have checked into the first, so isn't this just reducing the flexibility of the AP guest?

I am super frustrated by this extra hassle. Are they ever going to change this?

Completely agree! I’m not planing to renew my AP in January for the first time in more than 5 years (we stay at Deluxe Resorts). I’m often the only one in my travel group with an AP and having to go through that extra step occasionally presents issues! Almost couldn’t go with my group to Magic Kingdom on November 9th because we decided a week prior to change our schedule and the system wouldn’t let me switch to MK because it was a busy weekend. I ended up calling and they were able to get a reservation (but not without as risk as they were going to have to cancel my DHS park reservation first, and said they wouldn’t know until after they cancelled that if they could secure one for MK, so I might have been out of luck completely if DHS also filled up in the meantime - stressful! )

I used to do1 trip a year (DVC) as I live in the Northeast. Once I started buying APs, I did 2 to 3. Now I’ll go back to 1, using date-based tickets. Seems silly that they’ll lose out on the money we spend on higher end sit-down restaurants, LL’s, shopping, and even a VIP tour (or LLPP) on occasion.

I understand the AP park reservation requirement for those not staying on property, but for those of us who do it doesn’t seem reasonable. Sigh.

We are staying at a DVC resort next month and we have 2 day, 1 park per day tickets. Do we need to make a park reservation for each day? Also, how far in advance can we purchase LL Multi Passes?

Post 1 contains a summary but happy to help.

You have a 2 day, date based ticket so it is not necessary to make park reservations. They are not required for date based tickets.

You will be eligible to purchase LLMP 7 days before your check-in day so, if you arrive on a Saturday, you can purchase LLMP the Saturday prior to that at 7AM. You will be able to purchase LLMP for both days at that time.

Date based tickets no longer require a reservation. Just show up, scan in and go. You can buy multi passes 7 days before your check in date.

We thought it would be dead tomorrow the 6th with everyone back to school and missed making a park reservation and now there are NO parks available (I have never seen that before for the non busy time of year). We have APs so we can go after 2pm but did I miss a reason why it's so booked on the 6th for some reason. Do we have a real chance of snagging an earlier arrival if I keep refreshing and if so does anyone have a tip of the best time to try that? Thanks!

Wow!! Not really sure why it’s showing that! Hopefully they’ll show up soon. Possibly try at a park in the morning if you’re up? Cannot imagine all the parks are full tomorrow. Thinking it’s a glitch?

Another option is to call IT in the AM. 1-407-939-4357.

I had this for the weekend with my premiere AP for 2 guests .
Finally on Saturday between 6:30 and 7:30 in the a.m. I was able to get AK for Saturday and same time for one person on Sunday for MK … and then almost gave up to get something for me . But it showed up for one more person finally .,and then I read that DL AP at all levels are completely restricted for the entire holiday week I think Xmas Eve thru NYDay! Now I wonder if that will be ultimate goal for WDW APs…
And then I bought multi pass LL because I knew Big Thunder Mnt would be closed Monday beginning a 2 year closure.
I bought LL for Big Thunder … for 4:25 entered park just after 2 …I forgot about after 2:00 entry but parks were packed and knew it would get worse because MK was Open til 11:00 . Lots of peopl entering when I left at 8:00 tonight !
I guess schools start back Tuesday and then Federal Govt announced Thursday closure for President Jimmy Carter Funeral…and then marathon next weekend !
Yes it is still packed !
I will be cancelling EPCOT for tomorrow . So don’t give up !

Update that I hit refresh a lot and was able to snag a cancellation for HS, I was so nervous if we'd get it!! About 2 hours of refreshing and we lucked out if that helps anyone else one day? Thanks guys!

Up early here and just checked out of curiosity. At 6:40 am, not a single park available for today, Jan 6. I had noticed that most parks were also sold out over this past weekend. When I looked, I think only Epcot had availability Sunday and everything else was sold out. This was checking on Friday for Fri-Sat-Sun.

I hope it clears out a bit! We have family visiting from abroad starting tonight and they showed some interest in going to WDW.

Non-expiring? If that's what you mean, those are not dated and still require park reservations.

Yes you can but just a heads up that you will pay more at the ticket window than you will by purchasing it ahead of time on the app.

I noticed that. We just don’t like purchasing something like this so far ahead. Say we buy the tickets on the app and get the reservation on the day we need but then something happens that prevents us from going that day, can we move the tickets to a different day?
