I understand that you can have your room key act as your park admission and also used for charging privilages at the parks. Do they ask for another form of ID? What if you misplace (ok, lost) the room key?! How has this worked for you?

Yes, you can have everything on your room key. If you bought a package, your tickets should automatically be on your room key. If you request and have a credit card, you can include charging privelidges with your room key. If it is lost, notify customer service or the resort front desk immediately, basically treat it like a lost credit card. When notified of the loss, Disney will void it in the computers and issue you new ones. As for ID, I can only remember being asked for ID when I made a purchase, but no always. It's a good idea to carry ID with you at all times just in case. We have done this the last 2 years and have had no problems. It is very convienient and keeps you from carrying a pocket load of cards.

It's always worked great for us. Using the room key for charges allows us to keep a running update on our charges and helps to keep us on budget. We have never had a problem. :)

We also enjoy using the room key. I enjoy having onlly one larger deduction to track in our account rather than a receipts to deduct for each transaction.

So, if I understand correctly, our park tickets are the room keys? They aren't those floppy scan cards? :confused3

We have the DDP and we plan on hooking to a cc to charge, so basically that room key really is the key to the kingdom?

Yep. If you buy your park tickets seperately all you have to do is ask them at check-in to put the park tickets on your room key. I think it is much easier to only have to worry about 1 card.

SO, since we have 2 kids, and 2 of us, we'll have 4 room keys?

Thanks in advance for answering, I know they seem like dumb questions, but we've never stayed onsite before! ;)

Yes that is also correct .

You can also put charging privileges on just the 2 adult or all 4 cards as well.

This way you should still carry a CC and some cash with you (cards have been known not to work sometimes) for some walk ups that take cash only .But you will only have 1 card that you need to keep handy for Park entance, room, fastpass, food and souvies.

Each person named on your room reservation, including any children 3 and older, will be issued a Key to the Kingdom card with their name on it. Any that you don't wish to have charging privileges will not have such privileges and it will also say so right on the front of the card. A 2 year old doesn't need a park admission ticket anyway, and they're certainly not going to charge anything, so that's why they don't bother making a KTTK card for those 2 and younger.

My kids are ages 5 and 6... they're gonna think those cards are the coolest things ever. Do you get to keep them for souvies?

DD uses them for Scraping for every trip

ABSOLUTELY!

I think it's even printed on the paper holder sleeve that the cards make fine souvenirs and do not need to be returned.

i think the amount depends on your resort but i know you can put at least $500 on with a debit card, then after you use that they charge it out and you can put $500 more on and keep repeating that till your checking account says "no more" :lmao: since your package will already be paid for by check in, $500 can last a while

and they'll give you a print out as often as you want so you can keep tabs more easily

I'm interested in being able to charge everything to my room. I dont want to be putting everything on my CC though since I'll have enough cash to pay for everything. Is it possible to keep a running tab on your account that can be paid off travelers cheques at the concierge or something similar?

I was thinking that maybe the CC is just kind of insurance just in case you don't pay off your tab.

Sorry if I dont get it.... this is our first trip. So will my 2 children age 5 & 11 get a room card that has their tickets on them and the dining plan or is it only on the adult cards.

Not so much the park tickets but how would you keep track of the dining plan credits? and does everyone in the group need to present the card when dining?

If I should ask this somewhere else please let me know.

Sorry if this has already been asked before.

When you check in , instead of giving a credit card, you can sign a number of the travelers checks and use them instead of a credit card. You can then check at the front desk every now and then to see if you need to put more on the account.
I also think that you can give them a credit card to use on the account, and then go to the front desk and pay off what you owe before they ever actually put through a charge to the card. They only put through the charge if you get to the limit for your hotel. Each category of hotels have a different charging limit.
