Everything Old Is New Again! - A Dec 2010 Trip Report : THE FINAL ENTRY page 45

Mandatory Trip Report Element:
As defined in Article II, Section D, Subsection Beta, Paragraph 4, line 12c of the International Trip Report Treaty of 1967 (Ratified by the United Nations Vacation Council*, 1968, Amended 1973, 1988, and 2006), I am hereby including this "Cute kids, worn out by a day at Disney, sleeping soundly, and about to be rudely woken up, fed, dressed and herded out to another fun-filled day in the parks" picture:

IMG_3164.JPG

*Delaware, still riding high on their "first to ratify the Constitution" victory, tried to be the first entity to ratify this treaty, until France pointed out that as a state, they don't have any representatives in the UN. Not to be dismayed, Delaware left and immediately ratified Omaha, Nebraska's Lincoln Elementary School "Wear a Hat to School Day" petition.

I still had not heard from the girls, so we wandered around a bit and caught some of the Main Street singers. Anything with singing and dancing, and Madison is in her element!

As you can see, it's a chilly day at the Magic Kingdom. Grandma was very concerned that the kids were too cold and went off to the Emporium to get some hats.

Coming Up
Will we finally get everyone back together again?

(Spoiler Alert: yes)

:rotfl: LOVED your opening statement!!!

This photo is really gorgeous. It kind of reminds me of a postcard in some ways. But Madison's smile in it is priceless.

Looking at these two pictures tells me the scar is healing well so I guess I should stop worrying about it. Yeah, I don't see that happening either.

Where you on the sassy train today? I am guessing Madison gave her seat to you?

I'd like to say our morning went just about as smoothly as one can imagine, but that wouldn't make for a very good trip report, now would it? But considering we had 5 adults and 2 kids to get ready for a day at the Magic Kingdom, we didn't do to bad.

How many kids did we have with us?:confused3

I still had not heard from the girls, so we wandered around a bit and caught some of the Main Street singers. Anything with singing and dancing, and Madison is in her element!
IMG_3204.JPG

You would have heard from me if you had answered your phone.

Madison does love anything with music and dancing. I think that is because she is the Queen of Drama Queens.

I would like to point out that you always seem to stop just when it is getting good.

I really like this picture. Does the flash make a difference in your eyes?
No, my eyes are green no matter what flash is going off. :rotfl2::rotfl2:
Well, I take that back. The new flash might make my eyes a little extra dreamy. :thumbsup2

Allow me to butt in here for a minute:

The flash has a bounce card built into it that allows you aim it skyward to fill the room with light while also bouncing some of it forward providing flat light for portrait shots in 90% of your shots. Since flat light (ie: no or very few shadows) is desirable in almost all standard portrait shots, this is a very handy thing to have. In fact, the only reason I can offer to upgrade to the 580EX-II is if you need to cover a wider area in most of your shots. For most portrait (and home) photography, this is not the case. A 430EX-II is the best all-around flash you can get. If you wish, however, to upgrade to a fancy multi-light system using Canon flashes you will need the 580 but as that's cost prohibitive for most people, I'd recommend using one of these two (one, two) kits. They're much less expensive, come with some great parts, and while they're not TTL (automatic) flashes, with a little work you can learn to use them on your own to acheive the lighting you want. Oh, and by reading this.
Yeah, what he said. ::yes::

I do really like the bounce feature of the flash. I can aim it up, bounce it off the white ceiling and get very nice lighting that isn't as harsh as a flash going off right in your face.

Wow, that was a brave move bringing legalese into a trip report. I think you might have offset the blah, blah, yada, yada factor when you started bashing Delaware though.:lmao::thumbsup2

Nice update and I enjoyed the pictures as always. I'd hate to be dealing with a knee injury at WDW... from the photopass picture she doesn't look to be in too much pain though. Hopefully she can still manage to have a good time.
She was OK for a while, but was certainly something she had to deal with for the whole trip. More to come on that later...

And this explains why I didn't include one of these pictures in my TR. We're Delaware. Ignoring the Law since 1787.
You should see if you can get that on the license plates.

I love it when a plan comes together.
Riiiiiiiight

French toast, golf, Disney resorts...is this heaven? :confused3
No, it's Iow...wait, yeah, I think it might be.

Love that shot! The decorations look amazing.
Thanks. Disney really goes all out on decorations.

Like father, like daughter! :thumbsup2
:dancer:

Yeah, I'm pretty sure there's a Constitutional amendment prohibiting that.
Yup. Delaware was the first to ratify that one, too.

Now what did Delaware do to you? Don't make me start bashing Indiana. After all, we named the dog Indiana.
DON'T call me Junior!

<totally unrelated to the thread>
Sweet! I'm glad she liked it!
</totally unrelated to the thread>
Just so you know, nothing is unrelated to the thread. In between updates, feel free to discuss amongst yourselves. Here, I'll give you a topic: Rhode Island is neither a Road, nor and Island. Discuss.

Delaware hasn't done a thing to me... notice I'm not the one talking smack about your fine state... I just think that it is rather humorous.:lmao:

I remember seeing something about that on FB last week. I actually got on FB a few times while I was stuck at home for a couple of days. I guess the inverse of that logic would be something along the lines of Hawaii not having to recognize the Bill of Rights because they weren't a state yet, and therefore had no input on those laws.:confused3
Hawaii follows the laws because Delaware says it has too.

You have me dying over here!!!!!! I think I should hand Juliana the camera and have her take pictures of her parents passed out when she gets up. :rotfl2:
And then teach her to make pancakes and sausage!

Why is it that we the people know more than most CMs?
Nice job carrying the legal theme into your response. If I gave out points, you'd totally get one for that.
Good timing! I hang my head in shame... we still haven't made a RD yet. :sad2:
Just one more reason to keep booking trips!

How cool was that! Great pictures BTW...
All these times I've been to MK, this was my first trip on Main Street Transportation. I really want to take the horse drawn trolley one of these times.
Maybe she should of stood next to me during Wishes. :rolleyes1:rolleyes1
:music:
Another great pic!
Thanks!

You don't say.
I did say. It's right there. You even quoted it. :confused3

So much for a cliffhanger. :confused3
Hey, I said Spoiler Alert. :rotfl2:

Phew.....I was afraid I'd be REALLY far behind and am trying to catch up as much as I can tonight (my baby brother is having major surgery tomorrow and don't know when I'll get back).

I love the photos. And I never knew you could get on those cars coming down Main Street. How, after over 20 visits, did I miss that? :confused3

I love how Madison's face shines with her smile when she is watching the dancers.

nice pics barry, it looks so warm there!!:lmao:
Thanks Dave!
I totally forgot to put it in this update that I ran into you on your tour! Glaring Omission! Sorry, Dave. :sad1:

:rotfl: LOVED your opening statement!!!
Thanks. Sometimes sitting at my desk just get my mindless rambling juices flowing.

Thank you!

Looking at these two pictures tells me the scar is healing well so I guess I should stop worrying about it. Yeah, I don't see that happening either.
It really is healing nicely. And, no, I don't see you not worrying about either. That's what good mom's do.

Where you on the sassy train today? I am guessing Madison gave her seat to you?
Seat? She's the conductor!

How many kids did we have with us?:confused3
Umm...I guess that would be 3.:sad1:

Madison does love anything with music and dancing. I think that is because she is the Queen of Drama Queens.
Yeah, but she's adorable, so we keep her around anyway.

I would like to point out that you always seem to stop just when it is getting good.
Yup. Just like any of those reality / game shows. "Find out if Jim wins the $1 million....right after these commercials!"
Speaking of which, maybe I should get an advertiser for this TR. Anyone know of a company willing to shell out big bucks to have the right to be the presenting sponsor for this report?

Thoughts and Prayers for your brother...

You learn something new every time! Just like I told Tim - all the more reason to keep booking more return trips!
I love how Madison's face shines with her smile when she is watching the dancers.
She really knows how to work that smile, doesn't she?

What about Goodwill?

Stinkin' Delaware.....

:lovestruc LOVE  all your great pictures! You must have a really nice camera. Looks like you were really close for rope drop - nice. And VERY cool that the kids got to ride on top of that double decker bus.

Oh, and the grandma getting hats....yeah...it's a universal grandma thing. Hoping I'm not like that some day! :rolleyes1

No, my eyes are green no matter what flash is going off. :rotfl2::rotfl2:

As soon as I asked that question, I knew I'd get a response like this. Then I shrugged, and figured I'd just enjoy setting you up. :rotfl2:

+1 :thumbsup2

I thought they were owned by Japan now.

Sure beats doing work! :lmao:

They were willing to do it for mine, and I know they're anxious to continue pushing their brand name with their new marketing slogan.

This Trip Report is brought to you by Beverly.

Beverly: The reason dogs lick their butts. :thumbsup2

I may be a little slow, but as many times as I've seen this picture, this is the first time I've noticed that the buttons to dispense the drinks on either side of the Beverly dispenser look very worn down, while the Beverly button looks like it has never been touched. I wonder why?:confused3

That's a terrific question. It must have been newly refurbished after having been worn down from overuse. :rolleyes1

Thanks Dave!

i forgot about that. your good, the only thing you could see of me that morning was my face.:lmao: had my hood up. if i recall, it was real cold out that morning.

Stinkin' Delaware.....
Yeah, and don't get me started on their roads...

:rolleyes1
Thanks. The kids really loved that bus - especially since they got the front facing seats. Put yourself in Kayden's shoes for a second and imagine that as your first trip down Main Street. Kind of hard to beat that, isn't it? (Ok, now take yourself out of Kayden's shoes. They're pretty small and your feet will start to hurt soon)
Oh, and I'm sure your grand kids will have some very nice hats one day.

As soon as I asked that question, I knew I'd get a response like this. Then I shrugged, and figured I'd just enjoy setting you up. :rotfl2:
Wow, imagine how funny I could be if you followed me around all day and set up my lines. I can't pay you, but I'm sure it will look great on a resume.

Yuk. I think I'd rather have Goodwill.

I disagree. No one ever touches the Beverly button. As soon as it senses a cut anywhere near it, it gets so excited that maybe - just maybe - someone wants to to drink it, that it automatically fills the cup, whether the user wants it or not.

i forgot about that. your good, the only thing you could see of me that morning was my face.:lmao: had my hood up. if i recall, it was real cold out that morning.
It was cold - but I remember you saying you were doing the tour that morning. I saw the tour group walking by and actually saw your daughter first. I figured you were the walking pile of sweatshirts and jackets next to her. :rotfl2::rotfl::lmao:
