Checking in from Michigan! Originally from Northern Michigan (Traverse City area and still visit often), currently living in Oakland County (Metro Detroit).

Who the heck turned off the heat? What a wicked night last night--hope everyone came through without damage. We had a nasty storm blow through our area, but fortunately missed us--the worst went north and south of us.

We survived the storm with no direct hit, but the sirens did go off around 3:20 AM this morning. I'm hoping to cut the grass today and take advantage of the cooler temps, but the skies are looking very ominous right now..

I certainly don't mind the lack of heat, it was a great night for sleeping here.

But we saw on the news this morning that a tornado hit Dundee, and did some damage to Cabela's and a water park there so that's not good.

We've had enough rain for awhile. DH farms and the corn and soybeans have had quite enough to drink for a week or two. But farmers are never happy, it's either too much or twoo little.

I hear you there--but we could use a little less liquid for a while. Dundee did have some nasty weather. It appears to have been worse between Tecumseh and Dundee with the west side of Dundee taking the worst of it. Frankly, what Dundee felt was nothing compared to Wood County in Ohio--Lake Township was hit hard.

Happy Winter Everyone! We are up at Crystal Mountain for the weekend..

Oh man, going from everyone talking about summer excitement to the opening of the ski slopes--just another day in Michigan! I can't believe we had 60's last week & now the snow is flying--even without the help of a machine! Ug, how long until our nice Michigan summer is back?

Hope you had a nice trip to Crystal Mountain--it does look like a nice place to go! Happy skiing to those of you who love the white stuff!

I'll post pics when I get home of boyne highlands.. It snowed all day there. Amazing what 2 hours north can do..

Oh and I agree I want my summer back..

We stopped in Traverse City at a place Called Mabels.. We had wonderful service and the food was great. A family diner was exactly what we were looking for..

And my favorite part of the whole weekend!

We stopped in Frankenmuth on our way home. I'll post a couple pics I took there hopefully tomorrow..

I LOVE Frankenmuth!!! Almost went there today but decided against it (darling fiance want to go when its less of a nut house there).

Frankenmuth will be a nut house until probably January.

We went to Frankenmuth and Birch Run on the 13th which was when they were having "Deer Widow's Weekend" and it was total chaos. The line for Zehender's was out the door and lined up to almost the parking lot. When we got there it was busy, but not that bad. I think we only had to wait like 30 minutes for a table, but I think the wait by the time we left was well over an hour. Bronner's was just insane. The best time to go to Frankenmuth I think is on a weekday during one of the off season months like April or August.

It was not bad at all yesterday. We got there about 3 and was immediately sat at Barvian inn.. Even walking around wasn't bad. But I did talk to someone who was there on Saturday and they said you couldn't even walk it was so busy..

I have really had a craving for Zehnders (or Bavarian Inn for that matter), for the past month. I just don't want to spend the time driving up there.

Having lived in Gaylord for many years, I can also say that I do not miss the sights from Boyne and Crystal. . .snow is one of my least favorite things in the world.

On a really sour note, has everyone seen this news story? Morenci is within ten miles of my home and it is very difficult to comprehend something like this in such a small area. Not exactly the way Lenawee County wants to make it into the national spotlight.

My family did a bike ride this past summer along part of 131, on a beautiful, warm sunny day.... looks strange to see it all snowy and cold!

Hi!!! We just found out my DH is getting a transfer to Selfridge ANG in about 6-8 weeks. So excited but I know nothing about Michigan! We are originally from Ohio and currently live in Alaska so we are not too worried about the weather
Anyone in that area? We need a good school district and nice rental that tkaes dogs
