Everything Michigan....

Congratulations, pinnie! You are welcome, Fantasia..it's really not difficult, and it turns out like old fashioned fudge..I don't like fudge made with marshmallow fluff, or sweetened condensed milk..this is good.

Battle Creek is a mixed feeling for me. When I was in Girl Scouts, our troop went up to Kellogg's, which was so cool. Then we went to this little museum kind of place, where they had babies in jars at different stages of developement..from a tiny little sac, all the way up to a full term still born. I still shudder from that memory..

Just had to add that I just got back from Kalamazoo. My son and daugher in law presented me with my first grandchild today, a baby girl!!! Her name is Taryn Elizabeth. She weighed in at 7 lb. 8 oz and was 20 inches long, Both are doing well and this proud grandma already has her Mickey ornament all picked out!!!

Congrats! I love the name!!!

Congrats Grandma!!!!! I just found this thread.....I live in Battle Creek...you probably went right by me!!!
I used to work in Jackson and would work in the Irish Hills area all the time....buddy of mine lives right off 223 near Devils Lake.....I know the area well!!!

Good to see other Michiganders here......I thought I was the only one!!!!!

Good to see the Lions fired Millen....maybe he and Kwame can get together and whine!!!!!

Ok UJ - What do you mean you didn't know any other Michiganders? Now my feelings are hurt!! :sad2:

:rotfl:

My favorite place in Michigan is Silver Lake sand dunes. I love the whole area. THe dunes, Lake Michigan, the lighthouses, all of it!!!!

But our goal is to buy a cottage in Irish Hills because it is only 1 1/2 hours away.

That's the Kingman Museum, and the exhibit is still there. We checked out the place last month.

Our family just moved to Battle Creek from Washington state, so we're getting sue to the place. I just wish that the road construction on Riverside Dr and Beckly Rd would finish! We spend a lot of our time at the zoo and can't wait for ZooBoo.

Hello my fellow BC people :goodvibes

I like the lighthouses along the lake Michigan. The Little Sable, Big Sable, one in Ludington, I forgot the name, The Missions Point up where Traverse City. I think my favorite is the the Round Island by Mackinac Island where part of Somewhere in Time was filmed.

What a great weather day in Michigan!

Go State!!!!

Jan

We were in Ann Arbor yesterday and saw U of M beat Wisconsin. Holy cow was that an amazing second half!

It was the first time I have seen my son since dropping him off at Michigan a month ago. He is a freshman, and loving every bit of it so far.

Michael Phelps was also at the game, along with other Olympic athletes. Not knowing Phelps would be there, I deliberately left my camera in the car because I didn't want to have to wear it around my neck the whole time. Boy was I bummed when Phelps walked past me only about 10 feet away...twice!

It was a great afternoon!

How was the second half? Bloody amazing is what it was. So what dorm is your son in? I spent 3 years in South Quad, myself.

He is right across the street in West Quad. A couple of his good friends from high school are in South Quad.

Hey all, great thread.......:thumbsup2

I'm headed to Gaylord tomorrow to golf at Treetops....Tee off at 11:00am!!
The colors should be awesome.....I golf this week every year for a small outing......sometimes very cold, sometimes hot.......Hey, its Michigan!!!!

I usually take photos on the course....awesome views of the trees changing.....I will try to post some here!!!!

Did anyone else go to this years Ren Fest in Holly?

I usually avoid it, but I did give five different car loads of people directions to it who were wandering around the village! Special hint. The renaissance festival is NOT in the Village of Holly! It is out on Dixie. *small village rant over!*:)

Hello cabanafrau :wave2: I forgot to add to my favorite places in Michigan, it's Frankenmuth. Fugde is good there too! We like staying in Zhender's Splash Village. They have an indoor waterpark. It's nice that they have a lazy river and an area for And while at Frankenmuth, we also visit Birch Run where the outlet stores are.

Anyone else have any favorite places to visit in Michigan? I would like to see Holland in May. They have Tulip festival every May.

It's not that special. I live one town over. It's more of a senior citizen kind of festival. DD works at Dutch Village and it's $12 to get in just to see a few tulips (OK a few thousand) and learn about 2 minutes of Dutch history.

Our favorite places to visit are

Petosky and Habor Springs
Mackinac Island
Grand Haven (we are only about 30 away)

:lmao: I did this on a field trip, too, and it's a very vivid memory for me. My mom cans whole chickens in glass jars and I told her to stop giving them to me because it just looks too much like one of the babies in a jar.

I did. Every year we meet up with my sister, my nephew, and my great nephew there. (They live in the Detroit area.) I have to admit that the whole reason I go is for the apple dumplings. My sister goes for the turkey legs. Blech.

;) hockeymom, you'll be glad to know that I took 75 to the Dixie Highway. No tooling around in Holly for us. :lmao:

Good job! Its not that we don't enjoy visitors, its just every weekend we end up with tons of people driving aimlessly around, running stop signs and stuff.
