Everything breaking down?

We did both parks in one day yesterday. We started with IOA were there a half hour early, so as soon as they opened the gate, we went straight to hulk. 2 cars went and the second got stuck........we were the next ones so we got a ticket to come back, and they sent us away. A huge wrench in our plan since we were planning on knocking out IOA early. We did a few things and went to Harry potter, rode the train over and was impressed by a 15 minute posted wait time for Gringotts. Got in line, it broke down. Finally the line moves and we get on. Broke down halfway through and we sat there for about 10 minutes. Then off to RRR, we are on the platform...and...yup broke down. Another ticket to add to my pocket as we are ushered out. Then DH goes back to ride Gringotts with my dad....breaks down again. I just wonder if that was just our experience, what else was there. :confused3

Wow, that's bad luck. IME the Hulk breaking down is fairly rare. It happens on occasion, but for me it's been quite reliable.

I've seen RRR broken down a few times so to me it's hit or miss, but it's at least possible for that ride to go a full day without any problems. I personally wouldn't risk a long wait in the event it breaks down after you've been there an hour, but more often than not you'll be able to ride it with no problems so I wouldn't hesitate to try again later.

Ah, Gringotts. That's Universal's version of roulette. At least it only broke down once when you were on it, so you've got that going for you. In addition to the requisite breaking down while in line, it broke down twice while I was on it! That ride has a reputation for being a bit unreliable, so your experience is hardly unheard of. My only advice is to be aware of its flakiness and account for the possibility that you might get stuck there awhile.

Oh no!! That is bad luck!

When we went, we did not experience a single issue with a ride breaking down! Sounds like you guys had a bad day! Sorry! :(

I've never seen so much break down at once! We've seen breakdowns of course but usually it's just one attraction and then it's up again just a bit later. I have heard that Gringott's continues to have issues though.

I'll see your breakdown raise you one day when I was at USF and the entire park lost power . . . . .

Bummer luck! It happens though. When we were there in JAn 2012 the entire greater HALF of IOA ( Marvel, Toon Lagoon, Jurassic park and Hogsmeade) all lost power for almost 1 hr in the morning..Nothing was functional..Same thing happened to us at MK the one day too. Multiple rides with no power and non-functioniong for at least an hour..It always stinks when it happens, but I think the themeparks do the best they can

went 2nd week in august got to US 6.30am for early entry to gringotts, people already there, let us in 7.45 got round to diagon where they let us in at 8 straight through just as we got to pre show broke down for 2 hours, finally got on and worked great went to mummy, broke down, went over to IOA and spiderman broke down, went back to US got in line for gringotts again as it was 60 mins broke down, got going broke down after 1 1/2 hours gave up and went to see graveyard revue only to be told they were only doing a meet and greet as there were tech problems, went to transformers, oh yeah, not working

We arrived at the Hulk on Tuesday as it was down....we went to Doom and Spider-Man then it was open again. We had heard it being tested late into Monday evening and very early on Tuesday morning so they must have had an issue.

We went to eat at the Simpsons area on Tuesday and all the staff were outside, you couldn't get into kiwi emart or Moes and twist and hurl was down too.......turns out they had a huge power failure......no probs.....we just went somewhere else.

Didn't impact on our time though.......got on everything else ok.

We've been here 3 days at both parks. Gringotts went down once for 10 minutes. Some coasters down due to lightening the first day (necessary). Otherwise no problems.

We went yesterday and had no issues. Rode Gringotts with a 15 minute wait. We were there today and Gringotts was down a few times. Our timing must have been good.

I have to wonder if Universal is refurbishing their rides frequently enough. Every time I go, everything seems to be running, which never happens at Disney. It's fun to see everything open, but not at the cost of multiple breakdowns.

They need to refurbish the Hulk. It's incredibly painful no matter how you ride it and not fun at all. You put your head back to avoid it getting banged around, it vibrates the hell out of the back of your head the whole ride and the back of your head hurts when you get off. Try putting your head forward a bit and the sides of your head get banged around by the restraint. And I can't imagine what it's like for the "eyes closed" riders. You really have to watch and lean in to the turns to keep the pain as low as possible.

Compare it to Dragon Challenge which is actually fun and smooth as can be. They really need to do something. I just don't see how people can enjoy riding it.

Out of all my several trips the only rides I've seen break down are FJ, RRR, Transformers, and Mummy (but only the one time this year, and I've gone every year since 08 so far, except 2012)

We just got back after 5 days in the parks. We only encountered one breakdown and that was on Gringotts for about 10 minutes. Everything else was up and running with no issues for us.

Wow. You got hammered with some really bad luck. I was there that day too but did that day in reverse starting with EFG. Went to IOA later in the day and didn't run into any ride issues.

Gringotts is pretty hit and miss. My very first ride on it got stuck for about 30 minutes. I rode it 12 other times over the course of my vacation without an issue. Then on what was to be my very last ride of it on my last day.... stuck again. They offered us an immediate re-ride and I took it. Just didn't want my last ride on it to be a break down.

Transformers was down once when I went by to ride it but I just skipped on over to the Mummy instead. Other than closures due to the monsoon season going on down there I didn't run into any others.

But I am really sorry you had a bad day. It really sucks if you only have one day there and run into that.
