if all goes well my wife will finish a course of chemotherapy 6 weeks before we are due to travel , what are the chances she will be able to fly or are we just dreaming.everything was booked and confirmed when my wife was diagnosed with cancer .

I'm sorry that I don't know whether your wife will be fit to travel but I hope she makes a full recovery and if she is fit that you are able to have a great trip and if she still doesn't feel up to it or is unable to travel that you are able to reschedule and go when she is able to. i think a nice holiday will be good for both of you.

Again don't know about travelling but wishing your wife a full recovery. I do know that your insurance company will need to know.

wishing your wife,all the best:hug:
again,i can't answer your questions, but if you do manage to go,i wish you both a fantastic holiday:)
tracy

I sadly can answer your question :sad2:
our first trip to wdw was while my ds was still on chemo and we were taking a break as it basically wasnt doing what it was suppose too !!He flew with his line in and we had no issues with the whole trip.
I have a list of travel insurance companies that ill be happy to share with you but expect the premuim to be huge !!
I also know a friend who too has just finished chemo (3 weeks before) and has just come back from Vegas - again other than travel insurance no issues !!
I say everyone needs something to look forward too and planning for a wdw holiday will help both of you focus on the good times ahead.Believe and trust me it can happen !!!
I wish you and your wife the very best and if you need any advice re this im more than happy to share with you anything that we have learnt along the way.

I would have thought that if your travel insurance was in place when you booked, it will cover your wife's condition, and provided she is told she can travel by her medical carers, the insurance will be valid :confused3

In any event, it sounds as though you have every chance of getting the trip you both deserve and no doubt desperately need. Sending you both lots of best wishes and :wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard: x

I dont know, but I am sending some seriously good thoughts and best of luck that you make it:flower3:

I do not know the answer but good luck to you and your wife with her chemo.

I do not know the answer to your question but wanted to send best wishes to both you and your wife. I hope she make a full and speedy recovery

Ali :goodvibes

I too sadly can answer your question having BEEN there.

We travelled to WDW April 2004 just 3 weeks after DH had finished chemo. Thankfully he was just fine and it was one of the best trips there we've ever had, probably just because we were "demob happy". DH started radiotherapy 2 weeks after our return and it was actually his oncologist who told us to go have a holiday and enjoy it as we certainly deserved it.

We had travel insurance via insurance broker recommended on the Cancer UK website just incase that's relevent for you.

thank you all for the good wishes and positive feedback. i now feel that we have a shorter term target and maybe now i wont have to try and explain to our granddaughters why we wont be going to disney with them,as for insurance i have annual insurance and i will look further into it later on.

be sure to check the travel health insurance, since many companies will NOT cover it..
so you probably will have to contract for special insurance (at a premium)..

my sister has been in and out of chemo over the past 7 years....she has 3 different kinds of cancer (small cell lung cancer, ovarian cancer and now breast cancer to add to the mix)..

after every massive treatment, she goes on a big trip shortly after she's done...
even one time when it meant a wheel chair and oxygen tanks (that trip was to hawaii)..
the trips give her something to look forward to as she suffers through the treatments....and she always enjoys herself on the trips, even when she's not feeling 100%...

and her oncologist has always encouraged her to go on all the trips....

one thing to keep in mind, besides being sure to get the special travel health insurance that will cover your wife, you have to realize that your wife will have to take it easy during the trip.....relax and go slowly....she will not be able to do what she's been able to do in the past...
you don't mention what kind of cancer she has...if you did, i'd know what kind of chemo she's getting as it makes a difference....different chemos have different impacts on the body.....some can make it difficult to walk, others have other effects...

you'll know more as it gets closer....if she does feel the need for a wheelchair, there are wheelchair companies where you can rent a wheelchair for the entire visit...and of course the airlines have wheelchairs and motorized vehicles to get you to and from the airplane...be sure to take advantage of the service if you feel it will help..

i hope everything goes well for your wife!!!

Good luck in sorting it all out, hope you have a wonderful trip and remember Disney Wishes really do come true! Hoping 2010 will be a wonderful year for you and your family.

once again i want to thank everbody for their good wishes ,thankfully after an assesment today my wife starts treatment on wednesday ,once again thanks.
