Accident - this is a terrific post. Many thanks. I have a big family trip coming up and have been struggling to decide whether to get Memory Maker or not. We will be taking our own pictures, but it would be really neat if for one fixed price, we can get a week's worth of action photos on the rides for the whole family.
What had confused me was what I perceive to be conflicting language on the
MDE website. The Memory Maker terms and conditions say:
"The Memory Maker Guest will have the ability to download or unlock unexpired photos and other digitial content shared by members of the Memory Maker Guest's Family & Friends list DURING THEIR MEMORY MAKER WINDOW. Memory Maker and the ability to download or unlock shared photos and other digital content is intended for the personal use of the Memory Maker Guest ONLY. Downloading or unlocking, or offering to download or unlock, Disney PhotoPass photos or other digital content for the benefit of other guest, INCLUDING FOR THE BENEFIT OF INDIVIDUALS ON THE MEMORY MAKER GUEST'S FAMILY AND FRIENDS LIST... is a violation."
From that, I was worried that I wouldn't be able to access anyone's ride photos unless I tapped it at the end of the ride with my magic band. That wouldn't be worth $149. But if members of my family who have linked MDE accounts can tap their own bands (on rides I'm not on with them) and I can download, then I'd do it.
The terms and conditions appear to conflict with the "Important Details" on the Memory Maker purchase page, which says "Not only can you download your own Disney PhotoPass photos, but also those of Family & Friends who share media with you. So with JUST ONE PURCHASE of Memory Maker, you could get all the Disney PhotoPass photos of EVERYONE IN YOUR TRAVEL PARTY."
It sounds from your post that that interpretation is correct and not what the terms & conditions appear to say, which is very reassuring to me before I plunk down all of this money.
