Everyone on the DIS likes "______," however I thought, "_____."

Okay I'll play. Everyone raves about Chef Mickey. I wouldn't go there again if they gave me a free trip!! It was dirty, the food was like leftovers (and we were there at the beginning of dinner) and the waitstaff stunk.

There I've said it!! I feel better now.

AGREED! We also had a horrible experience there and wouldn't go back if Disney offered to pay for it. We spoke to the manager before we left to let him know how disappointed we were and he told us that if we would have contacted him during the meal he would have tried to make it better but there was nothing he could do for us. We weren't looking for anything anyhow, we just wanted to let him know that Chef Mickey's was terrible. We call it Chef Ickey's now.

Lots of folks rave about Prime Time - my DH & I both gave it a thumbs down - yucky cold food & very poor service.

Le Celliar--YUCK!!!!!!

Sci Fi- My favorite!!! It is so cool there!

I don't see what the big deal is about the dole whip, we have them at our local fair and I live in a little town in INDIANA! No way would I expect them to be a good Disney treat! :rotfl:

Dole whip!!!!!! Yuck is all I can say!!!

Ok, I will be the first to say that my family did not care for Mama Melrose at MGM and Crystal Palace for dinner.
These boards did steer us towards Le Celleir and Dole Whips that we really enjoyed. Half the fun of the Mickey bars is the shape.

Tonga Toast - sorry too sweet for my taste. Not what I was expecting after the big build up on the DIS.

I was also unimpressed with the dole whip....

Everyone kept raving about Fulton's, but it was the worst experience I've had at Disney. Yuck! and what a waste of money!

With all that has been listed so far, I'm probably in the middle of likes and dislikes.
Turkey Legs? Oh my - the nastiest food I have EVER tried!
Dole Whips? They're ok.
LeCellier Cheese Soup? DEeelish!
Chef Mickey's Char. Breakfast? WAAAY too crowded, mediocre food and hundreds of zealous tots = mayhem!
Beaches and Cream? I don't get it - what 's the big deal? It's a hamburger joint. I live in NJ and it felt like any other local diner!
WDW Value resorts? I'd rather stay in a deluxe off site for the same $.
Moderate resorts? The best bang for your buck on WDW property.

Was excited about finally trying a Dole whip on my last trip. got up to the counter and asked what it was. Pinapple Ice Cream??? That's it??? Yes, ma'm. Oh. :) I really thought it was like some special soft serve type of decadent thing........ sigh..........

Never tried Turkey legs. They look gross. DH wants to try one. Hmmmm.

Love Chef Mickey's, Beaches and Cream, and 'Ohana.

CRT. What a disappointment. The food was ok, but not worth $36 for me and DD4 to have breakfast and spend 30 seconds with each princess. Ditto for PSB.

Jiko was a disappointment as well. I like exotic food so I tried the octopus and the shrimp. They weren't bad, but nothing special. Next time I'l go to Boma instead. I love Boma except for zebra domes. They don't do it for me at all. We also love 'Ohana (dinner only, not crazy about the breakfast).

Everyone on the dis likes Yachtsman Steakhouse, however..we (six adults), found it to be the worst, most expensive steak and lobster we have ever had.

We were there just a week ago, and the food was horrible..service was horrible. This place is way over price. I don't know what they did to their steaks, they were tough, full of gristle and flavorless. The lobster, chewy and nasty.

Very unique thread...It just goes to show you how flexible the whole Disney experience can be.

To echo a few others here on the board:
In spite of the negative reviews both here and in the Unofficial Guide, I've never had a bad meal/experience at the Sci-Fi Diner and the 50's Primetime Cafe...love love love the food and the atmosphere at both!! I have to give credit to the whole experience of the Sci-Fi Diner which thrilled even my most-staunchly anti-Disney BIL and FIL...I think it was their favorite meal.

Le Cellier's cheddar cheese soup and pretzel bread...ahhh! A meal I dream about. I also loved their mushroom risotto, and their dessert sampler is out of this world!! (I highly recommend it if you go there with VKL vouchers!)

Not into the whole Dole Whip thing though my mom loves 'em...same goes with the turkey leg-though I might just try one one of these days to make sure. ;)

Jiko is one of our absolute favs...the Yachtman is not. We had a yucky meal in August 2004...probably won't be back soon. Same goes with Fultons-blech! DH and I have gone twice, and each time we hated the food, the service, and the price of our meals! I also agree with the posters concerning Crystal Palace-I so want to like this restaurant but just can't get over the chaos of the place!! YIKES!

I concur with the Lime Rickeys at Beaches-n-Cream, Ghiradelli sundaes, and chocolate chip cookie sandwiches!! YUM!

1. Everyone on the DIS likes Tonga Toast, but I thought it was waaaaaay too sweet and only ate one bite.

2. Everyone on the DIS likes Beaver Tails, but I thought they were greasy and gross.

Guess I'll jump on in here ... Everyone on the DIS likes, however I thought ...

Boma - Didn't look good when we stayed there in 2001, but thanks to DIS decided to try it in 2004. Didn't care for it, especially those Zebra Domes.

Whispering Canyon Cafe - too over the top

Chef Mickey's Dinner - Terrible food and character interaction

Polynesian - seems run down to me

Beaver Tail - Yuck (however, the strawberry topping was good)
Dole Whip- Yuck, Yuck
Counter service place in Mexico - Yuck, Yuck, Yuck

Hoop Dee Doo -- Everyone on the Dis loves it; my best friend loves it; we thought it was boring and the service lousy (we were in the balcony, though)

50's Prime Time--so-so food and none of the interaction that we'd read about

Flame Tree BBQ--YUCK!

wow I can't believe all the people who don't like the Dole Whips.

We have had bad food experiences at WDW but I think what makes everyone rave on the boards about these places/foods are the experiences and memories associated with eating them. Yeah Dole whips might not do it for you but eating them on a hot day in the MK knowing you are WDW having a great time...all adds up to a fun memory.

Hate to beat a dead horse (horrible image -- don't know why it came to mind!), but I was so excited to eat dinner at O'Hanas last time we were there, and I thought it was really disappointing. The meat was overcooked and DRY DRY DRY. somewhat unappetizing. And the service was slow. And it was expensive. Won't be going back there. 'nuf said.

On a positive note, we really enjoyed Whispering Canyon and thought the food was fairly good.

Looking forward to trying Resturant Marakesh this time.

HaHa- this thread is making me laugh so hard. thanks for the smile. :yay: Guess I will steer clear of the Dole Whips. :sad2:

LeCellier - Beer Cheese Soup - Yuck!!!!!! Great pretzel bread though!
