Everyone loves ________ but I just don't get it!

Got to differ with you here. The experience of staying at WL this year was much different than the experience of just visiting on prior trips. And, though, the two are architecturally similar, it is quite a different experience to start off at AKL and then switch to WL mid-trip (same as it was on our last one to start out at AKL and move to the Poly). I understand not everyone's going to want to pack up and move, but experiencing Disney resorts is a BIG part of the fun for us.

I differ too. Staying at the GF is WAY different from staying at AKL. They were two totally different experiences. JMHO!

Shoot me now. I have to say the Winnie the Pooh ride.
I love Pooh. I love all of the Pooh Characters. I am a Pooh bear freak. I just think this attraction could be so much more than it is. I still ride it, still love Pooh, but would like to see something more. I don't know what the deal is with me on this. I will admit though, I do like the honey pot cars.

"Everybody loves illuminations, but I just don't get it.
Does it symbolize something? It's short, and just doens't touch my heart the way Wishes does"

I AGREE!!!! I don't enjoy it like I do Wishes. I don't even really enjoy it at all.

I thought Soarin' was definitely NOT worth the wait. I think if they edited the film so it didn't have abrupt cuts between the scenes you're flying over, it'd go a long way toward making it more enjoyable for me. Every time the film CUT to another scene it reminded me I was on a RIDE.

Test Track is for grandmas. I drive faster than that in my own car. :D

Peter Pan's Flight. :confused3

Of course, the first time I actually rode this ride I was 22 years old, and the line was the longest line we stood in that entire vacation. It just wasn't worth the 40-minute wait. My sisters and I sat there feeling like idiots - like sitting on Santa's lap in the middle of the mall when you are like, 12, and you are only doing it to make your younger sister happy - while all these little kids around us were pointing and laughing like it was the best ride ever.

To other posters:
I love Illuminations now, but a few years ago when they were revamping the show at Epcot I didn't get it. There weren't enough fireworks and way too much time was focused on the flaming Earth. It looked like the end of the world! And I still think the movie screen is too small. But I love the rest of it.

Everybody loves Mickey. I don't get it Donald is much cuter...:donald: :donald:

Just kidding. Is there anyone who doesn't like mickey.

No disrespect intended but you were obviously not able to summon your inner child for that trip.

I am almost 60 and by myself. I went on all those rides when my kids were young and I thought as you did...boy I am sure glad I have small kids to take on this ride otherwise I would look silly. You know what? I now do them alone and it doesn't bother me at all. I just enjoy the ride and remember the past. All those people who you think are pointing and laughing really must have been about something else and not you because it wouldn't occur to them that anything was out of place. Even at the off chance that is what they were doing, my guess is that you will never see them again so who are you trying to keep happy yourself or them.

If you cannot get that inner child out then by all means don't go on those rides but if you can allow yourself to be a kid again you will be amazed at how good that will make you feel. That's why I keep going back. Nothing adult ever happens to me at Disney.

:goodvibes :) :cool2:

Turkey Legs..I don't get it. They look discusting and smell salty. I cannot even stand the smell of them.

While I much prefer the original IllumiNations to the current incarnation, I have to say that I do really like the holiday ending for the current show. For me, a lot of why I like the holiday ending is the "wow" factor of the fireworks and the stirring music. A previous poster also stated it well - that the original Illuminations had familiar music, which is also true of the holiday ending.

DH and I are really looking forward to trying the holiday version of Illuminations, and your recommendations have definitely helped too. :) I'll be sure to post with our reactions. Hmm...only about 4 months to go!
