"Everyone Does It"

Anybody else notice how much this term is over-used?

For example, the other day I heard two people in my school talking. One girl was the kind that you can just tell is ending up on an episode of Cops or something, but anywho, they were talking about the one girl's drug use. (she smokes pot) Well, when the issue was brought up, the Cops girl just sort of shrugged it off and goes, "well everyone does it".

?

Ummm, no. Actually your in the minority there woman. More people don't do it than do.

So yeah, I guess for a topic is, has anybody ever heard this term used incorrectly like I did?

many times. It its just an excuse for an action that has no logical excuse.

I OVERUSE this term when I want something.... Everybody does it

I tend to use that phrase when I'm trying to justify something I did or said (mainly to my parents). That doesn't happen often, but when it does, I pull out that excuse.

"Everyone does it"
"Great so if everyone jumps off a bridge would you follow?"
"If everyone does it"

ABSOLUTELY! Honestly, why can't people just think for themselves? Most of the time they think if it's on tv or the popular crowd does it, then everyone does. It's not true. Not only that, but because a lot of people do things because "everyone does it" our age group ends up getting stereotyped into a bunch of followers.

I agree...One of my Best guy friends, well not at the moment, has been smoking pot, and his comment to me was "I'm not the only one who gets high...everyone does it"

I say that a lot..and my parents always come back to the ol' "If they jumped off a bridge, would you do it too?" I say yes. Although of course I wouldnt..well maybe..

I swear in one of my classes, basically almost everyone in there does go and drink on the weekends. Me and this other girl get really tired of hearing who passed out first from drinking just a little to much. I live in a border town, and just about everyone does do it, which is really sad.

I hate that term. That's a really big pet peeve of mine. Why do people say that, I just can't figure it out. It's so dumb. When my friends used to come to school in 6th grade wearing about nothing that's what they would tell me 'everybody does it'!!!!

A term i hear all the time and have used many of times myself. Ive done a lot of stupid things and that always was my excuse once i realized how dumb what i was doing was is when i realized that not everyone does do it in fact less people then you think do it. whatever that "it" may be.
