EVERYONE can use FastPass...

THEN, I heard a kid ask his mom, "Why can't we go in that line?" and she said, "We have to wait in this one!" Well... Actually, you don't - but whatever!

Actually, based on the way it was worded...she might be correct. If she was holding a FP for another attraction and the window had not opened yet then she, and subsequently, he, would not have been eligible for another yet. So they might have taken a FP for some other ride and chose to stand-by for that one.

I agree...don't tell the secret

Someone on the Disboards had to tell you and I the secret, or else we wouldn't know. That is what this board is for. You get advice AND give it. So here's the secret for anyone who doesn't know:

You can use fastpasses anytime after the window opens on the same day!

I think that's the secret everyone's talking about, anyway. It's the best advice I learned on this website.

Ok:cool1: Maybe she is referring to the other strategy veterans employ for fast pass use.;)

Stop with the secret thing already! It's NOT a secret -- cast members in the park are known to announce to the entire line - "you can use your FP any time after you window opens for the rest of the day."

After we rode Soarin' early one morning, we came across a group of people heading there. I overheard one girl say "You know what? There is a ride in that silver ball thingie."

Sorry, it's hard to feel sorry for people who probably spent over a thousand bucks on a vacation and didn't research it one bit.

Flame me all you want, you won't change my mind. :lmao::rotfl2:

I heard something like that in Fantasyland.
A mother asked her child if he wanted to go on "The flying elephants ride".
I thought it was so funny. How can you not know it's Dumbo!

That's what it says on my EPCOT guide map from last month. An explanation of Fast Pass is two panels long and it would be the first thing you see when you open the guidemap.

I truly don't know how many people don't know about FASTPASS. The crowds seemed to figure out that F! was only playing on certain nights relatively quickly.

There is a simple reason for that...many people think that FP costs something so they blank it right out when they see it. They think that the words merely tell them where they can go to buy one. The feeling is that they have spent enough money already so they are they are not about to spend more to get on a ride that they can ride at no additional expense. Others decide that this is a vacation and are not going to spend the entire time rushing from place to place getting FP's and then having to wait until their time scheduled to actually go to it.

I would wonder how much time is actually saved by using it. I think it might surprise you that the time spent getting the pass and timing everything so that you can get there when the time comes is almost as expansive as waiting in a line. The time is just broken up into smaller segments so it isn't noticed as much. That is especially true of a line that isn't constantly brought to a halt because FPer's go ahead.

Just like those that use FP it would take a lot to convince me that my stance on it isn't a good one. Unfortunately for me, FP does exist now and unless I get an occasional one, then the forced wait in the stand-by lines would prevent me from seeing the rest of the attractions. It is a perpetual motion kind of idea. The more it is used the more it is needed. We used to have a great time before it existed and never felt that we had wasted any time at all.

If you had to use the FP within the hour on the ticket, I agree that it might be not worth the time to fit it in. But the fact that you can use it anytime after the return time for the rest of the day, makes it very easy to use. It has made my park experience way more enjoyable.

She may know it is called Dumbo, but maybe the kid always calls it the flying elephant ride, so that's how she refers to it when she talks to the child. :confused3 Just a different perspective!

I know for a fact that the last trip we were on we saved a ton of time using FPs. It only took a small amount of time to get them, we rode rides in the vicinity of the FP rides and then used our FPs. No problems there. And when we used them got right on the rides, with very little to no wait.
