Before you go...take time to understand how FastPass works. It's very easy, and is available for EVERYONE.

Can't tell you how many times we used FastPass this weekend...bypassing very long lines of folks in the standby lines (and FastPasses were STILL available) who looked at you like you had a horn growing out of your forehead as you strolled past them in the FastPass Line. You could see them asking others..."where are they going?", "how come they get to use that line?"

You CAN use that line...you just have to know what to do.

Let them use standby if they want. It means less wait for me in the FP line! And more available FPs!

>>> shhhhhhh!
... so ...
>>> "You could hear them muttering, 'where are ...?"

I would stop right there and announce (and I can be very loud), "All right you folks who think I am a unicorn, let me have a show of hands, how many of you have never used a fast pass?" And i would explain it to them a few at a time without shouting in their ears.

Actually I have never had the above occasion to. Or maybe it was because my hearing was damaged in the Tower of Terror by someone shouting and I could not hear "them" muttering.

Reminds me of the time I was speaking to a group of people and one of them pulled out a cell phone and started a conversation. I do not give up the floor easily. I just got louder so those furthest away could hear me, and the person with the phone gave up and put the phone away.

I know another secret about fast passes that DH found out on the last trip by a fluke from a CM. We would have NEVER known if he didn't happen to ask that right question! And I can't tell you how many Disney veterans I've met had no idea about it!! Even my best friend who got me hooked on Disney in the first place and goes 1-2x a year had no idea!! She actually didn't believe me and I told her to try it this time when she went in July and sure enough I was right!!

And you're not going to tell us what it is?

I am one of those standing in line.

This is a ride I want to go on several times. I get a fast pass then get in the regular line. If the timing is right, I wait my turn, enjoy the ride immensely, then get right back on using the fastpass line.

The wait for Soarin' was only 20 minutes; but, I could get right back on using the fast pass. Yes, I had to wait 70 minutes to ride Toy Story Mania the first time; but, I also got right back on with a FP and got to ride two times in a row. I didn't have to disrupt the flow of my journey around the park to come back later. If I get a FP to ride TSM and come back later to ride it, there is a good chance that that all the FP's for the day will have been given out by the time I try to get my second one.

There is a description of Fast Pass in the brochure with the park map.
Don't people read the brochure?
I suppose they do not look at the park maps, either?

It's really ashame that there are guests who just don't understand fastpass. In August I was 6 months pregnant so I spent a lot of time sitting on benches waiting for my family to ride things. I was on a bench at the exit of Kali River Rapids talking to a nice lady about how hot it was. I said well I'd get my chance to cool off a bit on Kilimanjaro Safari in a little while. She mentioned how long the standby line was and I said well it doesn't matter because we have fastpasses for 1:20. She then asked how me liked the tour. I was sooo confused..I asked..what tour? She said...well you have fastpasses and the only way to get them is to take the DVC tour. Did you like it?:confused::confused:

I SERIOUSLY ALMOST FELL OFF THE BENCH!!!

I said noooo...you have it all wrong. I then explained how fastpass works and that the tour offers some as a thank you. She was so upset..they were on their second to last day and could have been using fastpass all along.

I would think that most that are interested enough to come to a Disney board unless they are very new would know about Fast Pass. Any research (guidebook, planning dvd, brochure, tv specials, or website) has the information readily available and its easy to understand. I never feel sorry for the people in standby or feel compelled to give those dirty look people advice. This sounds mean but IMO if you weren't smart enough to do some very basic research before you went then you deserve to stand in that long line.

Scan of the info on a park map.

You all know that not EVERYONE can have a Fastpass at the same time, right? There will always be people in the standby line.

You may walk right past me while I'm in the standby line, but thats because my Fastpass for Splash Mountain doesn't start for another 45 minutes so I have some time to kill.

I don't think Fastpasses are that big of a secret. Sure some people don't get it or don't use them, but if it's 12:00n and your fast pass doesnt start till 1:30pm what are you supposed to do? Obviously not go in a stand by line cuz that makes you an idiot.

I haven't been to WDW in a while, but it's pretty stunning at DL to see the lack of understanding of FP.

Like seeing a return time that starts in 15 minutes on Grizzly Rapids on a hot summer day, when the standby lane is 60 minutes. Now, it's possible some of those people already have fastpasses and can't get another for an hour or two. But not all of them.

I know that no one will agree with me but that is the very reason that I think that FP's are junk. You rode twice while so many people were still waiting to get on once. That is legal but it is also the reason why people look at you like you have a horn growing out of your head. I still think that FP is a major cause of frustration for the vast majority of visitors. I'm not talking about the veteran, I am talking about the first timer.

For us to look down our noses at them because they, god forbid, don't know something that you do...is another reason. It was so much more fun to go to WDW before the introduction of FP. That is my opinion, of course, and I do use FP on occasion...it's a matter of survival. Without them and because of them the lines are a lot longer and the wait much more frustrating then it used to be.

We don't need no steenkin' maps!

After we rode Soarin' early one morning, we came across a group of people heading there. I overheard one girl say "You know what? There is a ride in that silver ball thingie."

Sorry, it's hard to feel sorry for people who probably spent over a thousand bucks on a vacation and didn't research it one bit.

Flame me all you want, you won't change my mind. :lmao::rotfl2:
