everyday things that make you think of wdw

Wait! I thought of another one...and this one is weird. The musty smell of a basement reminds me of the queue for Pirates of the Caribbean. I am weird.

There is somthing about the fountain at the Beachwood mall (here in the Cleveland area -- any NE Ohio people out there that know what I'm talking about?) that smells like the fountain in the Mexico pavillion and my DD and I love to go there, and then head for the Disney Store!

I also annoy all my friends when I tell them things remind me of WDW. I went to Arizona for the first time a couple of years ago and said. "OMG! This looks just like Big Thunder Railroad!" My friends wanted to kill me!

Ok, here is one that makes me think of Disney. I work at a preschool and every other Tuesday we have a book mobile bus that brings us library books. Well when I was walking through the parking lot the bus began to leave and just the sound and smell of the bus reminded me of all the Disney buses. I just closed my eyes and for a second I was standing outside my resort waiting for the MGM bus. I know that sounds strange, but it was so real. Go figure!

When my dad calls my cell phone it reminds me of WDW. I programed the ringer for his calls to play Its a Small World. That song used to drive him nuts, until my mother passed away. Now he likes the song, since she did too!

Im glad im not the only one!!!

When im walking outside (usually in my work parking lot) and I look up at the sky and it is clear blue and the day is warm I will think about being in WDW.

Also when it is misty out and a little chilly I will think of mornings on the boardwalk.....

less then 200 days to go...LOL:tongue:

Great thread.

I agree with the original poster. Humidity and sunshine. (Being from Florida they also remind me of Florida in general.)

Beautiful landscaping.

We have a restaurant in town where the entryway has the EXACT SAME SMELL as many MK restaurants and queue areas.

In my office I have a 20x30 poster of my five kids and one niece sitting in the stainless steel Mickey Ears by the contemporary pool, one of them going down Splash Mtn, and smaller posters of wife with Tigger, DD on Merry Go Round at DD, Other DD at OKW, etc.

My favorite is the kids in the Mickey ears. In the background I can see a wing of the hotel, the marina and across Bay Lake.

Oh I've definitely had moments when I say to dh, "I feel like we're in WDW..." I think it's mainly the weather that does it, but sometimes we'll be in a store or something and for some reason it just "feels" like WDW. Can't explain it really!

In NYS there are license plates that start with AKL, can't help but think Animal Kingdom Lodge everytime I see one!

OK..this is going to sound kind of weird, but the smell of freshly laid asphalt always reminds me of the way the parking lots smell at WDW when you are walking to the trams! Not the best smell in the world, but it definitely makes me feel for a second like I'm on my way to WDW!

I just was sitting here at my desk and experienced another one of those moments. When it's clear and quiet you can hear a train that's a couple of miles from my house and I'm always taken back to the shores of the Polynesian, listening to the train from the MK across the lake!

There's actually quite a few things for me.

ANY body product that smells like either green tea, or citrus. I used those on a few of my trips, and it makes me feel like I'm getting ready to tackle a park!

Whenever we pass by the courtyard by marriott around here, it reminds me of Disney World, cause that's where I stayed for my first couple of trips.

When we go to a bookstore, and pass by the study guides, all those AP (Advanced Placement) test preps make me think of annual passes. :)

The only time I eat rice krispy treats is during WDW vacations. I can't resist the Mickey-shaped, chocolate covered ones. Every week when I do our food shopping and pass by the RKTs, I think about Disney.

I don't know what it was, but last night we went out to dinner with DBF's parents and we went to a rooftop restaurant that was outdoors. It was a beautiful, warm, breezy evening here in Maryland and I don't know....the smell of the air, the wooden wall beside us, the smell of the Italian food....I just had a flash back of being in WDW. It wasn't one particular place, but I was there :)

:D

When the weather is beginning to get warm here in NY, I begin thinking about WDW because I have gone there in April, May, or June the last 4 times I have been there.

Other than that, I guess I could say waking up every day with a Mickey Mouse tattoo reminds me of WDW, or the countless Disney items I have in my bedroom.

I just had an experience yesterday, so as someone else said, funny to see this thread.

Here in NJ our weather is starting to really warm up and it has been humid. Well I had on one of those strappy cami shirts and went to pick up my dd from school after I had worked out. My shoulders had that tacky sweaty feel to them that they get when I am just out and about at WDW. It made me think that this is how it will be when we are there in Aug/Sept.

Just as a side note, I am normally not a sweaty person ;) , the workout did it to me! But we all know what that humidity in WDW does to you (secretly looking forward to the heat & humidity as long as I am in WDW.)

Whenever I stand in a queue line - I'm reminded of WDW! Also, the flagship store of Yankee Candle in Deerfield, MA always reminds me of Disney. It's the closest thing to having everything done "just so" like landscaping, store displays and friendly help like at Disney.

The Yankee Candle factory always makes me think of Disney too! Especially the part with the German band and pub. I love that place!

I see hidden mickey's at my local grocery store! ;)

We spent so much time looking for hidden mickey's on our last 2 trips, that I've "trained" myself to look for them EVERYWHERE - even when I'm not in Disney!!

Just last night my fiance and I were walking around the neighborhood as I was hit with that Disney feelin'! It was the humid weather, the green trees all around us... reminded me of walking around at Tropical Palms after a fabulous day at a Disney park.

Also (this is very odd) there is a section of sidewalk on my morning walk across campus that's covered with sand. Whenever I walk across that little section I think of walking along the beach of the Polynesian and I get so happy! (It's the little things...)
