Every trip is a learning experience...

What a great report. Love the idea of a line for those with resort parking ids. I'm glad you had a good trip overall.

Sorry to hear of your DH health issues. One other option depending on the needs is a service that sends a doctor right to your room. We've used it a couple of times and the service was great. The front desks have the contact info. As I recall, you have to pay with a cc# immediately and file insurance yourself. Both times, the doctor had an initial dose of antibiotics with him and called in the script to Turner which delivered very quickly. Both times, it was well worth the cost.

Regarding the alert to the desk at the resorts when you check in with ME...

I think this has already been operating on some levels at t few DVC resorts. Sometimes we rent a car, sometimes we do ME. We started to notice that rooms were ready and requests more available on the ME trips.

My husband asked if that made a difference and was told that the resort is alerted when you checkin with ME. Sorry, but I can't remember which resort told us this. For sure it was a DVC since we have only stayed there recently.

This pre-assigning of ME guests to rooms already cleaned, was being done in June 2006 at BWV. I was there, saw it happening, inquired, and was given the confirmed information from the guest services supervisor.

I was not happy to say the least......

Thanks for the comprehensive trip report Jean! My husband need medical care one Thanksgiving trip and we ended up at Celebration Hospital ER. They were very thorough and the doctor on call was from Florida Hospital who actually owns and operates Celebration.

BCV23,
Thanks for the heads-up on doctors who will come to your room. DH has some chronic health issues, so this may well be information that will be useful in the future!

Great report Jean! I agree, I hate the double tipping for bags. But they have always told us that the person who removes the bags from the car will not be the same person who brings it to the rooms. On my trip 2 weeks ago, we had to do the double tipping because my 2 year old puked all over the car just as we drove in. I wasn't about to lug everything myself. Fun huh?

We are not fans of that double tipping either. What they essentially have done (regarding us) is lost a customer. We always tipped well when they brought the bags to the room, but when they guilted us into giving a tip to the one who lugs it 20 feet, that was the last time we used them. So we get a little more exercise (which we both can use) and they get nothing.

I have stayed at other timeshares that have those carts for the guests to use. I wish DVC would provide them for us, or at least let us borrow theirs. I know, it will never happen.:sad2:

We avoided double tipping when leaving and using Resort Airline Check-in by hauling our 2 wheeled suitcases to the lobby ourselves, thereby only needing to tip the RAC person. We used Bell Services only for our Owners Locker. I don't know why I have such a bug up my bu-- about this luggage tipping thing. It is a miniscule fraction of the cost of travel. As we get older I will just need to DEAL WITH IT, ALREADY!

Yeah, DH has that same bug! He absolutely HATES to tip someone to carry bags he thinks he can do himself.

I don't know that I am totally against this policy. The way Disney looks at it is you are already "in the system" being with ME. You are verifiably on the way to the resort and really it just evens the playing field somewhat with the delays of ME going from resort to resort. Probably about the same time frame for someone on the exact same flight getting to the hotel and getting rooms.

I think it would be more annoying to arrive in the lobby right after ME has arrived and there is a bus load of people waiting to be checked in....

But that is under the presumption that they are not holding rooms for people scheduled to come in with ME.
