What are you having for dinner tonight?

I just took out about 1 lb of ground meat to make pasta sauce but I'm not in the mood for that. What else (beside taco's) could I make with that?

What are you serving tonight? I could always refrigerate the ground meat for another day or two.....

We're having pork chops, mashed potatoes and gravy, and corn. :)

Hi Rose!

Another thing you can do is to brown the ground beef, then add your favorite or homemade spaguetti sauce, let simmer for a while. Cook penne pasta to taste, then toss with the meat/spaguetti sauce mixture. Sprinkle parmesan cheese on top. Add a little salad, bread and you're set. It's delicious and quick to prepare!

Oops, I just remember the part where you said you didn't want sauce for pasta. Disregard my idea! Maybe someone else would like it.

BTW, I will be making beef stew.::yes::

Meat loaf? That's what I got mine out for.

Sloppy joes?

Chili

Chili-Mac

Cheap man's beef strogonoff (sp?). Just use ground beef instead of steak. You can also roll the hamburger into meatballs and do the same thing.

Hope this helps.

We are having shake n' bake pork chops, mashed potatos, string beans, corn and steamed broccoli, asparagus and sno peas.

WOW, that's a LOT of different veggies for one meal! LOL

Pork chps here, too, along with collards and fried rice.

Try this with hamburger. DH calls it Dog Food but always cleans his plate.

1 lb hamburger
one small onion chopped
one cup raw rice
one cup spaghetti sauc
one can of sliced mushrooms, drained
3 cups chicken stock (bullion)

Saute hamburg and onion. Drain . Add remaining ingredients and simmer till rice is tender and the sock is absorbed. Very tasty dish.

I'm making Beef Stroganoff with ground beef, noodles, cream of mushroom soup and sour cream.

Here is my husband's favorite recipe.

Hot Taco Rice

1 lb. ground beef
1 onion chopped
brown and drain

add
1 1/2 cups salsa
1 8 oz. can tomato sauce
1 chicken bouillon cube

Serve over rice

Tell me about it! :D My mom is making dinner so she's making sure everyone's favorite veggie is included. I'll just be having the string beans and corn of course the pork chops and lots of mashed taters.

Wow! Sounds like it's pork chop night in "Dis" land! I don't have any at home & it's too cold to go out, so I'll have to figure something out with the ground meat. Maybe I'll try ILUVDXL's dog food recipe....ahh....what do you call that anyway?

Truthfully, I wouldn't even have to cook as I have this wonderful cheesy speghetti casserole dish in the freezer that my best friend made for us when we returned from Disney so that I would find some food in the house when we arrived home. (Wasn't that sooooo sweet? Eveyone needs a friend like her!!) Anyway, my DH won't eat anyone else's food (but he'll eat restaurant food!) He has this phobia about eating food that someone else made. He's a wonderful man but sometimes he drives me crazy!

Hey! Maybe I'll have the dish my friend made & I'll make him a PB&J sandwich!! ::yes::

Mishetta, it's just called Hambuger and Rice (Duh!)

Heres on my mom always made when I was a kid and it was one of the few ways I would eat beef.

Brown your burger in a large skillet.
Salt and pepper, maybe some garlic powder or salt.
Some onions if you like.
When its done browning, add beef bullion cubes with water to make a gravy. (beef stock in the can will do if youve got it)
Add your flour or Wondra to thicken to a nice gravey.

all in one pan.

In the mean time, make you mashed potatoes to drizzle you hamburger over

Add your fave. veggie ours would be either corn or peas and your all set

We simply call this " Scrambled Hamburger"

Its de-lish!! And super easy

I am the LAST one to talk about typos, but I have jsut got to ask (see, I did one right there!)

ILUVDXL: How can you tell when the sock is absorbed? Dosen it leave fuzzies behind? Does it smell?:hyper:

Here is a recipe I got as a child - very easy. Take one lb of hamburger meat, brown it, drain, and 1 large can of vegetable soup (we use Campbells), do not add any water. Simmer, and it's done. We call it Campers Stew, and generally put it over rolls or bread.

I have an easy recipe for a beef stroganoff that you could do.

Brown the beef.

Drain - and add 1 can of beef consomme (I can't spell that), 1 can of tomato juice and an 8 oz bag of egg noodles (extra wide).

Cook on medium about 10 minutes or until noodles are tender. Remove from stove and add 1 small container of sour cream.

It's quick and delicious warmed over. I usually add a spinach salad to the meal. And maybe some carrots.

PamNC

P.S. I don't know what I'm having tonight - probably leftovers. I made a turkey breast. Might eat sandwiches.

I have no clue what's for dinner tonight, but last night I made Asian marinated pork chops (used Emeril's Asian Marinade- quite yummy), Rice a Roni rice pilaf & a tossed green salad. It was good! Tonight will probably be something with ground beef, inspired by previous posts!

I have to work tonight, but I'm making chili ahead of time and some garlic cheddar biscuits that DH can reheat when he gets home.
