Both my boys went missing today!!! It all went quiet when they were in the garden and I was on the pc researching holidays. my first thought was that they were hiding from me somewher so I searched the house from top to bottom.
Then I went out into the back alley, up and down. All his friemds were out but I knocked on all the doors just in case.
After about 15 mins shouting myself hoarse I had to do 999 - by this time I was really panicking. The police started a search immediately - about 7 cars and a helicopter!!I was on the phone to everyone, asking neighbours etc but not wanting to stray too far from home.
When the police eventually turned up to ask me some questions I just about collapsed!!!

Finally about 6.00pm (1.5hrs later) They found them on their way home. Seems Zach wanted to save me the bother of having to cook tea and took Danny down to town to buy him a Mac D's with his pocket money!!! AAAAAAGH!!!!!

He is sooooo grounded!! Got a major lecture from the policeman and me. My poor mum was getting packed ready to come down to me as well. I can't believe that his brain just deserted him! I sent him straight up to bed as I was so relieved and so angry I really didn't want to let rip straight away. Danny thought it was all one great big adventure - as you would at 3.

I phoned their dad and after the initial panic, he firmly placed the blame on me... Explains why our marriage foundered really - sigh.

Oh, Elise!!!! Major {{ hugs }} coming your way!!! You must have been out of your mind with panic!! You're right, this is every parent's nightmare!!

I'm so glad this had a happy ending! You have to admit, though, that Zach was trying to do a nice thing for you....doesn't make it right, but how sweet is that?

I think I'll give my kids an extra hug tonight.

Glad both boys are safe and well.:D
Children don't see things the way we do, do they. Zach would just see it as a way of helping out.

I agree it is every parents worst nightmare

So glad it turned out well!!! I think I would have fainted and fell to the ground.

A Big {HUG} to you, I'm so glad you found them!
I remember a time when DH and I lost our son in the mall, it seemed like it was forever and it was probably only 5 minutes.
It happens to the best of us! Give them an extra hug tonight:D

So glad everything worked out alright! The longest 1 1/2 hours of your life. You'll probably not be able to relax with them out of your sight for awhile.
This brought back an episode with my DD--it was at HIFS on a WDW vacation in 2000. She was 3-yo & got out the door. I didn't notice right away, (MOTHER'S GUILT FOREVER) and I couldn't find her. Up and down the outside corridors I'm running & hollering her name, seeing all those hotel doors and the horrible potentials!:( Finally, security found her way over in another stairwell across from where we were. I don't think I fully recovered from that experience!
Have a nice, relaxing bubble bath if you can!:D

Kids! They just don't see it from our point, do they? I'm hoping that your heart is beating a little more slowly and is out of your throat and into your chest, Elise. ((((HUGS))))

Oh, thank God in heaven they are OK! Oh, I CAN imagine how you felt. I had a "nightmare" happen to me once. Took me a long time before I could laugh instead of cry.:D My heart started beating fast just reading your story.

But you know, I hardly run into a mom that something like this hasn't happened. OK, maybe not with the police, but still. It's more common then we think. Very scary stuff, though.

Just think, this will make for a good story when they are older. Maybe one you can forever bribe them with!:teeth:

Glad they and YOU are OK.

You are right, that would be my worst nightmare. So glad that the kiddies made it home safely and all turned out well. {{{HUGS}}}

OMG Elise i so know that feeling well. With fours kids to keep two eyes on its very hard for me. I panic when i can't find them. They "triplets" went through a stage not so long ago about hiding from me. They'd hide in the towel closets, toy box ect about scare the crap outta me. Cause i know they can get out of the house thru the slider door it sends me into a major heart racing episode when they do it. I'm so grateful that your boys are safe and sound at home and i hope by the time you get this post your heart has calm down enough you can take a deep breathe and keep from beating there tails. LOL I did that to break mine from the habit of hiding i had no choice but to beat them>LOL I hope you are having a much calmer day today. And btw/ congradulations on that beautiful new clip art!

((HUGS)), I am so glad they were alright. What an absolute scare that was. Hopefully, it might teach them both a lesson as to what can happen (cops & helicopters and mom freaking out) if they wander away.

Glad they are safe and sound.

Melanie

A big, big {{{HUG}}}, Elise. I'm so glad your boys were safe and sound. My daughter once wandered off in the clothing section of a dept. store. The racks were so crowded with clothes and so close together that you couldn't see between them very well. My heart just stopped until I found her. Kids can certainly give you gray hair, can't they?
