I have a fear of the dark and loud noises and things jumping out at me. My 9 year old son shares these fears with me. I've been looking forward to riding it but now I'm wondering if it will be too scary. I can't ride Dinosaur because it freaks me out. Is Everest similar to Dinosaur? :confused3

My neices 8 and 12 rode Everest and loved it. Then I asked them if they wanted to ride Dinosaur with me. I had never ridden it but I told them it would be scary and things would jump out. The 8 year old came off crying hysterically. (I felt horrible) But she loved Everest. I don't want to spoil it for you or anyone else, we all thought it was great!

Thanks, that helps me alot knowing that Dinosaur did bother them and Everest did not. Hopefully I will enjoy Everest too. :)

I was wondering the same thing. Thanks for the info.

I'm glad I'm not the only one around here! Practically everyone loves Pirates of the Carribbean, but I was totally freaked out by it! The concept was cool, the pirate scenes themselves were awesome, but I hated the dark caverns, I hated being in the water in the dark, I hated the big ship with the firing cannons. I've never wanted to get off a ride so badly in my life.

Wow. Yep, that's it.........Wow. :confused3

Dinosaur is so much worse than EE IMO. EE is fast and smooth. The ride does go backwards into the dark for about 20 seconds. The yeti doesn't really jump out at you but does try to get you at the end, but the ride is so fast its not scary for long. My dd5 & dd8 went on and loved it. If you can do Thunder mountain (they have dark caves) you can do EE. The only difference is EE is faster than BTMRR and goes backwards. If you are that nervous, the internet has video of the ride that you can watch before you go.

There is a good video of Everest up that should help you decide, if you don't mind major spoilers. Just search the forums for everest video :)

I have a problem with Dino and Pirates myself I also hate the Malestrom or whatever in Epcot and am kinda nervous about trying any of them with kids..... SO the fact the EE goes faster freaks me out more. Though I did love BTMR and RR so I dunno. My concern is my personal fears will hold my children back.... not sure hubby can handle both on some rides...... we'll see. Maybe I will get my courage up by then!

This is so great that I'm not the only one scared of the dark. My husband thought it was hilarious when I wanted to post this thread. I think I will try out Everest, the fact that kids are liking Everest that did not at all like Dinosaur is comforting. I'm intimidated by the dark but I can handle it if things aren't going to jump out at me. I have vowed never to ride Dinosaur again and I hated that Alien Encounter when it was at Magic Kingdom. Thanks for the input everyone.

Everest was smooth, great scenery, but it does go upside down. I found
myself very dizzy for about a half hour afterwards but it all depends on
your body.

I did not know EE went upside down.... :scared1: but I will try anything once...

I can't remember it going upside down. I think it just had a pull down lap bar, so I don't think it did. But it was first ride we did all week, so I could be wrong.

thank GOD!!! Pilgrimage had me scared... :thumbsup2

It's got those pull down shoulder restraints. It's AWESOME. Just standing in line is entertaining. It won't shake you to death --- very, very smooth and fast. Very entertaining - never been on a coaster like it. Great story. TRY IT! You only live once. :cool1:

See, I learn something new everyday here on the DIS...I looked at pics of the ride vehicles but did not notice shoulder harnesses...
