Weddings Around the 'World'
-- The epitome of Disney romance can be summed up in four words: Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings. Since the first wedding at Disney's Wedding Pavilion in 1995, approximately 1,500 couples each year have exchanged vows at Walt Disney World Resort.

For these couples, dreams become reality. Where else but at Disney could a bride arrive for her wedding in Cinderella's glass coach, have a handsome major domo carry wedding rings to the altar in a glass slipper, or have Mickey and Minnie greet guests at the reception?

Whether it's an elegant ball at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, a traditional ceremony at the Wedding Pavilion, a country hoe-down at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground, or a beach-themed wedding complete with tiki torches, leis and luau on one of the Walt Disney World white-sand beaches, Disney custom designs each wedding with the famous "Disney Difference" -- providing attention to the tiniest detail.

Disney's wedding specialists become the fairy godmother, incorporating all the elements including ceremony, entertainment, cuisine, floral arrangements, audiovisuals and accommodations. For more information on Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings, call 321/939-4623, or visit www.disneyweddings.com.

So, according to Disney, "approximately 1,500 couples each year have exchanged vows at Walt Disney World Resort." I wonder if they include vow renewal couples in their numbers? My guess is that they do.

Oh, I love it when Disney contradicts themselves. Take a look at the following official press release: click here.

Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings Fast Facts

Now, approximately 1,600 couples tie the knot each year at Walt Disney World Resort. Since September 1991, Walt Disney World Resort has hosted more than 27,000 weddings.

Couples have traveled from every state in America and from international locations such as Japan, Saudi Arabia and the Netherlands to get married at Walt Disney World Resort.

At least twice during the 13-year history of the Walt Disney World Marathon couples have stopped mid-race to get married in front of Cinderella Castle in Magic Kingdom.

A couple took the plunge, literally, on The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror at Disney-MGM Studios while they tied the knot.

Some brides and grooms choose non-traditional methods of transportation to arrive at the ceremony such as on horseback, Cinderella's glass coach, a horse-drawn carriage or vintage automobile.

According to wedding industry experts, Walt Disney World Resort is recognized as a top-ranked honeymoon destination and destination weddings venue.

The sky is the limit for themed weddings -- from an enchanting Cinderella-like wedding in Magic Kingdom or a Hollywood extravaganza in Disney-MGM Studios to international-themed nuptials at Epcot and a safari-themed reception at Disney's Animal Kingdom.

The first wedding at Disney's Wedding Pavilion was televised live June 18, 1995, on Lifetime Television as part of its "Weddings of a Lifetime" series.

Most recently featured on ABC Extreme Makeover, Travel Channel and Food Network.

A Magic Kingdom wedding for the 10th anniversary of "The Oprah Winfrey Show" was a star-studded affair, with performances by Celine Dion, Peabo Bryson and Regina Belle.

The Wedding Pavilion can host up to six weddings per day, and up to 12 weddings can occur each day at various locations on Walt Disney World property.

Wedding prices begin at $2,950 for an Escape Wedding Collection gathering for two. Wishes Wedding Collection ceremonies start at $10,000 for 10 guests or more. An average wedding at Disney is about $28,000 for 100 people.
