I was just looking at yahoo images & I decided to type in Disney Weddings & there were pages of images.

It made me think "How many couples have gotten married at WDW"?

I think DFTW started in 1993(??) so thats 14years of weddings...WOW

What do you think the number is?? 1000...1mil.....5mil???

What would be really cool is if they had a "wedding yearbook" to show photos of weddingd thru the years.

I would buy it & contribute.

Ya know, that does sound like a neat idea, what do you guys think....A DFTW yearbook starting with the 1st couple married at WDW and section it by years & then months & maybe days.

Let me know what you think & if we like it how to get one started

what an idea!! You are so smart and imaginative. I would purchase one too-- but would it be 1 book or more live purchasing volumes of encyclopedias:rotfl: . I wish i had a brain like yours. Way to go!:grouphug:

As much as I would love to take credit for it (it is a great idea)-- it was Heatherlynn's idea:cheer2: on SRUAlmn's thread. She deserves the credit for it... I just started a thread.:rolleyes1

I think the book sounds like an amazing idea, but Maggie's right. It would probably have to be more than one. Unless you did really small photos like a high school yearbook maybe.

Let's think about this...

Let's say there are an average of 40 weddings a month (average of 10 per week,) that would be 480 weddings a year x 14 would be 6,720. I have no idea how many!!!!

I read an article from a couple years ago that there were something like 2800 DFTWs that year. I don't have a source or link for you though.

It looks like its leaning toward encyclopedia... would be cool if it was a book a year....and even though DFTW starting in the early 90's Disney has done wedding for awhile...I have a family friend who got married on the Poly beach back in 86....

cool; idea but yuea what a huge book. thre must be a way.

when we were planning our planner said that every year disney has around 3,000 weddings both custom and intimate but that number grows every year.

I think the number per year is closer to 2000 from what I have heard. A few years ago they did a big wedding in the Magic Kingdom as the "10,000th Wedding" it was on Lifetime television.:teacher:

I think I heard Disney does an average of about 5 weddings per day--according to the Food Network special a few years back!

I asked my SM during my site visit and she said DFTW has about 3000 per year. I thought we were being really different and creative having a WDW wedding, but I guess a lot of other people are different and creative too ;)

found this on wikipedia

Disney's Fairy Tale Wedding Pavilion is an exclusive area of Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa for weddings, re-exchanging of vows and proclamations that opened on July 15, 1995. Located on the shores of the Seven Seas Lagoon on its own little island just South of the resort

If I remember correctly, I once heard that the first person to get married at Disney was the one who originally started DFTW. Sadly, that first Disney wedding ended in divorce.

I also think I heard the same thing Rustyflwr3 heard...5 weddings a day is well over 1000 a year

What really gets me sometimes is to think about the relatively small percentage who manage to find this forum!

Since I'm in the midst of bills, bills, bills, I'd like to see how much prices have gone up over the years. It's higher than the cost of inflation, which is a testament of DFTW's growing popularity. I know we're paying almost 10% more than 2006 brides and grooms. Minimum spending has increased for custom weddings too. I also know 2008 brides and grooms have it worse than 2007.

I've seen Disboards threads of people paying $85 for their fireworks cruises in 1999. Wouldn't we all love to see that again?

thats alot of weddings....just glad I was part of it

If they have that many weddings in a year, I think a wedding yearbook idea would work best & do A book per year....but how to get ahold of all those past DFTW couples & have them participate, especially if some are already (gulp) divorced.

Does DFTW keep records of all their weddings or is it an in & out process?

I would love to know the inner workings of DFTW....that would be a good behind the scenes show .

:)

article I found online

The epitome of Disney romance can be summed up in four words — Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings. Since the first wedding at Disney’s Wedding Pavilion in 1995, more than 2,300 couples each year have tied the knot at Walt Disney World Resort.
For these couples, dreams become reality. Where else but at Disney could a bride arrive for her wedding in Cinderella’s glass coach, have a handsome major domo carry wedding rings to the altar in a glass slipper, or have Mickey and Minnie greet guests at the reception?

Whether it’s an elegant ball at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, a traditional ceremony at the Wedding Pavilion, a country hoe-down at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground, or a beach-themed wedding complete with tiki torches, leis and luau on one of the Walt Disney World white-sand beaches, Disney custom designs each wedding with the famous “Disney Difference” -- providing attention to the tiniest detail.

Disney’s wedding specialists become the fairy godmother, incorporating all the elements including ceremony, entertainment, cuisine, floral arrangements, audiovisuals and themed accommodations.

For more information on Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings, About.com's Honeymoon Guide has put together a great 10-page information guide with photos. To contact Disney direct, call 407-828-3400, or for those who’ve already tied the knot back home, ask about Fairy Tale Honeymoon packages by calling 800-370-6009.

I read the same thing. That's a lot of weddings! I've also read that the average DFTW's a year is 2200-2300. :scared1: That's about 6 weddings a day!
