Ever used a crock pot?

We are staying in 2 studios at BWV. My mother is a fabulous cook. Since we are driving, she is planning on cooking some sort of stew and freezing it well before our trip. We will let it thaw in a zip lock in a cooler in the car. Then refrigerate it when we check in. Our first day we plan on putting the stew in our crock pot and let it cook in the room while we are at the parks. Then come home to a simple dinner.

For another meal we will (in the morning) open a large can of beans and cut up some hot dogs and place in the crock for beans and franks when we get home.

We do plan on dining out some - but we have an autistic daughter who is not fond of restaurants. Being able to come "home" to a hot meal will be helpful.

Anyone out there ever used a crock at WDW? Any good recipes?

PS - I believe that the crock is very safe!

Thanks!

I've used my Crock Pot in BWV and HH several times. Cooking in a studio can be a challenge, not much counter space. We had to bring all our own utensils and plates. The easiest meals I did were a beef brisket, beef short ribs and stuff shells. We would come back to the room by 3:30 PM, eat, relax and make plans for that night based on how we felt at the time. Not much room in the under counter frig, so planning is a key element. It can be done and save a ton of $$$'s and still eat very well. Let us know how you make out.
