That's what we've been using for several years now. It fades a little, but remains dark. I'm waiting for the landscaper to come and remulch for this year. Every day I hope that they're going to show up. I know they'll be coming soon since the awning went up over our deck last week. They are usually pretty close together in doing these jobs.
I used it for the first time last year. Didn't know if I would like it, but it really makes your flowers and shrubs stand out!! It looked nice all season long.
You're selling me! I was just worried it would dry a gray color. We have A LOT of mulching to do. Wish we still had DH's truck (so does he!), but I have to get the bags instead.

I would look in your area for a place you can buy in bulk were they will deliver it. I love the look of it but we going with rocks this spring I am tired of re-mulching. I agree it make your flowers & plants stand out & everything look new.
We used the black colored stuff from Lowes for many years. I loved the way it offset my plants. It does turn a dark gray color after awhile and we did have problems with mold growing in it! This past year we had some landscaping done by a local nursery and they recommended we stick to the natural shredded hardwood. It is A LOT cheaper and so far NO MOLD!
Mine is over a year old around our trees and it's faded. We did like the look of it when it was new so we used it on our new plants. Now, I haven't checked for mold....will add to my list of to do's.

I was going to say the same thing, even with the delivery fee it was a LOT less then buying bags. We just put down new mulch last summer--used cedar for our mulch. I don't know if I have ever seen black mulch. I will have to look for it this year.
I to was going to suggest delivery! I work seasonal at Lowe's and have worked in a local wholesale landscape sales.
That is what most do, even with a pick-up, that stuff gets pretty heavy!
I have used both the Scott's black mulch in the bag and the dyed black mulch bulk delivery and I love them both! I won't go back to brown. They faded somewhat, but it still looks good!
We always use the black mulch.
At lowes it's $4.48/bag, and doesn't cover a lot of area.
We are paying $37.50 for 1 cu yard, plus a delivery charge.
It's worth it, if you have a big area to mulch, to call a local landscaping co.
to see what the charge is for the mulch to be delivered.

I put black mulch in 3 years ago. I need to remulch but the one area that still has mulch left is still black....it is faded but not that much. I got the stuff from Lowes.
I am trying the Scott's black mulch in the bag this year. They claim a 1 year guarantee for the mulch to not fade. Itis $3.87/bag right now at Lowe's. I probably spent about $40 for all the bags I needed. I can however get a load in my truck for $25. But that mulch fades over the summer. So if the Scott's stays black and doesn't fade, I will use it. However if it does fade, I'll go back to the cheaper mulch.
we live in a condo complex and the landscapers only use this orange-colored mulch - a brown or black would look so much better, but this is the type they bring....
I use Cypress Mulch. Being a horticulturist it is healthier for your plants here in Missouri. We have clay soil and cypress mulch helps to lower the PH of the soil & builds organic matter.
Although if I see the Scott's black mulch, I might be tempted to overlay my beds. I have a ton of flowers blooming and black mulch would make it look so much better.
