Ever Tired of Disney?

and for toby....
We were nervous about going just by ourselves - would we be feeling strange without the kids?? Well, we got over that fast - now we can do the things that we've always wanted to see, but the kids had always thought were too slow or "boring" before!!

Best thing DH and I ever did was leave the "dontwannago's"
home!

Disney is the happiest place on this planet!

And those who don't understand....probably never will!
they just don't "get it!"

Nope, never. I used to think I had to apologize for it but to heck with that thinking. Lots of people have summer or second homes they go to every chance they get. That is what WDW is to me, my second home. I have a friend who thinks my vacation choice is rather, shall we say, ordinary. She goes to Paris and stays for weeks at a time every chance she gets. I think she is the one who has the wrong idea of what a vacation is all about and I'd rather keep my dollars right here in the USA -- but to each his own. I love going with my son's family as a grandma, I love going with my sisters and niece and I love going with my girlfriend and with my husband -- just the two of us. Every trip is different and I wouldn't trade one of them for a trip to Paris. No more apologizing or explaining for me. If someone doesn't get it -- well, they just don't get it. How sad for them.

Actually, I do get tired of Disney. Cinderella's Castle is a sight I LOVE to see when I get there and I LOVE to see it for the last time when it is time to come home. I take that to mean that we've calculated just the right length for our trip.

But, as soon as I get home I'm ready to plan again. Oh, how I LOVE that castle! ::MinnieMo :jester: ::MickeyMo

Okay, I've got to admit it.....I'm a bit "Moused" out. I love WDW, will go back someday, but now it's time to do something different. I think New Year's Eve did me in (maybe it's like childbirth, after a while I'll want to try again!).

We did the cruise (now THAT I could handle in steady doses) and WDW last Dec., surprise business trip in October, repeat cruise and WDW this December. So that's 3 trips in one year - that's quite enough for me (my family would disagree - they'd go every week if possible). Hawaii is next on our wish list, I just wish I could find a nice site like the DIS for planning other trips.

Hello,
I haven't been bored at all. Each trip is different...the one in Dec. was with my husband and another couple. This May we are taking all 5 grandchildren and son, daughter, and their spouses...that will be 11 people. In Dec. we ate fancy and did almost everything we wanted to do. During the May trip we will be at the pool a lot with the 1 and 2 year old. Both trips are great.

We are taking our camper down in October and staying at Fort Wilderness. This will be just my husband and I, and we plan to spend a lot of time at the Food and Wine festival.

However, we are going to take a year off (I think) as we plan a vacation to Alaska (thank you DVC points).

NO WAY! The 6 foot rat and I get along great.

We have 4 kids. 17, 16, 11, 6. We take them everyewhere. We've been to 34 states from SoCal to Niagra falls, British Columbia to Gulfport Mississippi. Multiple DL trips and a big excursion to WDW (with the fam, I have been to WDW 4 times).

My absolute favorite time at the world was during the Millenium Celebration for our 15th anniversary. Annette and I went just the two of us. It was our first big trip without the kids, ever. IT WAS A BLAST!!!!!!!!!!! We had to get used to not looking around for the kids :D

Not yet--.
But as they do away with the attractions I like (Horizons, World of Motion, etc) in favor of teen thrill rides, it may someday come to pass I wouldn't find much to do in the Theme Parks.

I wouldn't say I get 'tired of Disney'. I'm trying to do different things each time we go. Since we bought DVC we can go more often. Now, we don't have that 'commando' mentality. We know we're coming back. I'm planning on going to Vero Beach to break up the WDW trips. We'll still do a few days at the parks before we get to Vero though. I have little interest in traveling to Europe. I love the Pacific Northwest and there are lots of spots in the US that I want to see. We'll just have to squeeze them in between WDW trips.

We did. For several years, we visited about twice a year and couldn't envision that changing. However, Disney burnout did come along. First, DH started to become more aware of the whole Disney marketing thing, everything Disney 24 hrs a day at the resorts. Then our kids got tired of "the same rides" with every trip. On our year 2000 trip, I realized that I had been so looking forward to it but didn't get the same thrill with the trip, to match the anticipation.

So when DH & kids wanted to skip a year or two, it was alright with me. We went back in 2002. We'll be back in 2004. And I suspect that we won't return again until around 2006 after that. Meanwhile, we've been vacationing in lots of places we'd never seen before and that's been GREAT fun for us. Our "wanderlust" has been ignited. ;)

Every time we go there is always something new to see. People often ask me if we get tiredof DW, yet they never ask if we get tired of our summer place. We enjoy DW by ourselves, and we also enjoy taking new ones with us . Then, we can experience it through fresh eyes.

We are not tired of going but we are taking a year off after 3 straight years. I think it will add a bit to the next trip with the excitement. There was nothing like the first trip. Plus sadly it takes a while to save up for WDW. We may even take an East Coast drive and see the sights from MA to Fla and put Disney in the middle of that trip.

Yes and No

After this past trip during Christmas, I experienced a WDW burnout. The crowds, the mean people, the waits. However, I still would like to go and stay at Disney without experiencing everything Disney. I want to stay in a nice resort, but actually explore the rest of Orlando also. After our next trip there (AP's expire) we probably won't go back for at least 2 years. I want to take a cruise and go to DL. I think maybe I need a WDW break.

I don't think so, Tim! We have been there more times then We can remember, and we are going back next week. Living 86 miles away, we go every month except July. {way too flippin' hot, and too many bodies!} :smooth: :teeth: :hyper: :earseek: ::yes::

We plan our Disney trips to be every other year, so that the off year, we can go to other places. Of course, I long for one of those trips to be Hawaii, but once we get back from WDW, we start to "save our money to go to Disney World" as my younger DD chants every day. Maybe someday...... (and no, the Poly just WON'T take the place of Hawaii LOL!).

One trip, we tried to check out other attractions in the Orlando area, but realized it just wasn't good enough, so now, we just do Disney (and we hear it too, "why do you go down there so often?" "Because we enjoy it down there!!!")

Our next trip is in two months, yet older DD is planning our trip for 2006 (she's got BIG plans for us to do the 7 night DCL western cruise, AND get my Hawaii trip in too - it will be DH & my 20th anniversary, and DD will graduate from High school, so there will be lots to celebrate. I agree with younger DD, save our money to go to Disney World!!!!)

:hyper:

We took our oldest son there in 1977 when he was 2, went back with our boys every 3 years until they were in college. More recently we've gone back once or twice a year for long weekends. Finally, we bought into DVC, we are slow learners, so we're not bored.

We've taken trips to Orlando without WDW, but even then, we find ourselves booking a dinner at Artist Point and walking around the grounds of the resorts. We like Disney.

We also like Florida, and the wonderful state parks. We can't wait to retire to Florida in 3-4 years! (We will keep our Cape May NJ house, we don't like Florida summers.):p

We've been going to disneyworld ever since i was 6months old..which now is 15 yrs old..we never miss a year..disneyworld is constantly changing so we don't feel like we're seeing the same old stuff over and over again....We usually go in january so the rest of teh year we go to other places. For instance last year we went to disneyworld in january...went to the bahamas for spring break..teh florida keys for summer and then we went to switzerland in november. Well i guess taht's cuz we can afford it but believe me my family has gotten used to me being a disney freak lol..and now they admit to love going every year

No. There is just so much to do at Disney World that I never get to do everything I would like to. We do alternate between the beach and Orlando for vacations. We also usually make a trip to the mountains each year.

My DH gets tired of WDW (he grew up near DL so maybe that has something to do with it). We took a break for a couple of years, but I may head down with my 4yo and then all 6 of us go in a year. We've gone to Universal a few times and really enjoy that change of pace, but I am ready to return to WDW.
