Yes, my husband and I have talked about working on a cruise ship for a couple years after we retire. I'll be 58 when I retire, and I come from a family in which women tend to live well into their 90s. I'll have a traditional pension, but it'll be years before I can start collecting Social Security (if it even exists by that point). I think I'd like to work six months on, six months off for a couple years.
I wouldn't want to do anything that deals with food service or housekeeping though -- I've done enough of that in my life! I'd be good at the customer service desk or the excursions desk. Or I'd be good doing something managing the crew.
My husband is an engineer, and he says it'd be exiciting to work in the engine room or in some type of navigation.
