Thinking about doing this because we were able to get one of the discounted rooms at the GF and have never stayed there before. Thought it might be fun to stay at a monorail resort. Is it worth it? We'd be going from a 1 bedroom at VWL to a single room at the GF. Just wondering if anyone else has ever done this and how it worked out.
Thanks :goodvibes

We have done this the past few years. We would stay at the GF for the first 3 or 4 nights and then move over to the BCV to a 2 bedroom. The GF has always been my favorite resort, although the BC is a very close 2nd. The first year we did this, I was a little let down moving from the GF over to the BC. I think because the GF seemed a little nicer and again it is my favorite resort. The second year I definitely felt like we had alot more space when we moved to the BC. There are six of us and up until my youngest DD was 3, we could fit in a GF room since she was in a crib. Also for us, we were able to have the best of both locations, the Magic Kingdom and Epcot. I think if you got a good rate for the GF you should definitely go for it! It is a beautiful hotel.

We split between BCV and GF 2 years ago for our honeymoon.
It was very easy to do.
Now, we were a little letdown by GF. Pretty and all, but just didn't blow me away considering the cost.

We also did a split stay for our honeymoon last year: 1BR at SSR for 5 nights then to GF for 3 more. We really enjoyed it. SSR will always be "home" for us, and we love it for the relaxation and beauty. GR was great too, though, because it's beautiful in more of a "luxury" way. Took us 2 nights to get used to having house keeping show up and make the beds EVERY day though :rotfl: Only thing we didn't really like - SSR pool ranks higher than the GF pool, for us. But that's personal opinion!

We split a stay going from GF Concierge to BCV studio. We loved the luxury of the GF Concierge and we were upgraded to one of the exclusive honeymoon suites.

It was a wonderful splurge for DH and I. I would not want to be cramped in a regular hotel room with my 2 girls (11 and 14). That is just a personal preference though whenever we travel we always stay in suite hotels for the extra room.

Thanks for all the input. Makes me feel really good about the decision. At least we can say we tried it!:wizard:

:rotfl: We thought the same thing! We love to relax by the pools and have a few drinks at the pool bars. We didn't like either. If I had children with me, I would definitely save a few $$ and stay somewhere else specifically for better pools.

It was a great experience to stay at GF--we had always dreamed of it. BUT, we won't do it again.

I plan on doing this next August with my goddaughter, first 3 nights at GF and then 5 nights at either BWV or BCV. Nice to read what others have to say.

We've done that combo several times.

We really prefer starting at the GF (or Polynesian) and then moving to BCV. It is so nice to move into the villa, do the laundry from the first few days and spread out.

The first year I used points since I has just purchased a resale and the points were expiring. Other than that I have always paid cash.

I planning on booking with a AAA discount and then cross fingers for an AP discount.

We used points. We had planned it out so there were extra but we wouldn't do it again.
