I've seen photos of it, but I have never actually seen it happen.

I heard once somewhere that Mickey rides the first ride of Dumbo, but that did not happen on our last trip.

Just curious as to how often it happens.

We rode the carousel with Mary Poppins, Burt, and the penguins. It was really fun! They sat right next to us, which made my 1 yr old DS's day - he's a big penguin fan.

The first time we took our DD (then 3) to WDW, we were about the first to arrive at the Pooh ride on an EE day. Pooh appeared out of nowhere, followed us to the ride and proceeded to try to jump on with us, but this freaked DD out a bit (even though she LOVED him). He did ride in the car directly behind us and DD could not take her eyes off him.

:earseek:

I've never personally ridden with a character (they always pick kids or families to ride with insteed of us "older folk" ;) ), but I have seen Alice and the Mad Hatter ride the tea cups with children before. Characters riding the ride is fairly sporatic and you don't know when it will happen until it does. However, if you want to be sure to ride with a character, be sure to do the Family Magic Tour. At the end of the tour a character will come out and ride one of the rides in Fantasyland with you. Many times it's Peter Pan but he's not guarenteed. You will always (to my knowledge) get a face character like Peter, Wendy, Belle, Aladdin, Mary Poppins, etc though, you just never know who.

I've always wanted to but never have. What a lot of fun that would be!!

and at the end Peter Pan rode It's a Small World with all the kids. My boys were lucky enough to ride in the front row with him. My 8yo even walked thru the park holding Peter's hand.

No but I sure wish Donald Duck would ride with me next time I ride the Aerosmith rollercoaster!

We were there right when Toontown opened on our visit. My daughter had seen her Disneyland Sing-a-long video so many times, and had watched the parts when Goofy rode the Barnstormer, so she kept telling me, over and over, that Goofy was going to ride the coaster. I kept telling her that I didn't think the characters really rode the rides...that it was just for the special movie. We were one of the first in line for the Barnstormer, and were thrilled to see Goofy and his son (name escapes me), Chip and Dale ride the first train!!! We weren't on the first train, but it was exciting just to witness. Of course, I got the "I told you so" from my daughter all trip!!!

We were there last week. As another poster said. We saw Chip and Dale ride Barnstormer. Then Max and Goofy did the next one.

Last December we were going on Goofys Barnstormer, the first ride of the day. Goofy & Pluto were outside the entrace when people started gathering for it to open. We all walked up together and Goofy & Pluto mingled. When we got on the ride, Goofy "drove" up in front and Pluto got in the middle.
DS who is usually nervous on this ride had an absolute blast this time, yelling the whole time "Goofy is a crazy driver, Hes crazy!". It was great!

We rode on Small World with Mary Poppins after the Family Magic Tour in 2001. She rode in the front row with my two DDs. Made them feel really special.

We rode Winnie the Pooh with Tigger. I had seen him riding and asked the CM if my DD who was 4 at the time could ride with him, he said no problem and we waited until he came around again and then rode the whole ride with him. That was a lot of fun.

We haven't done it yet but have seen it quite a few times. Generally at opeing of Fantasyland and Toon town some characters will ride. Its often not the very first ride of the day so don't worry about sprinting through the park!!

We have seen Tigger and Pooh at WTP about 15 mintues after opening, Mary Poppins on the carosel and almost got to ride the same train with Goofy and Max on the Barnstormer. We were boarding and they were in the front two cars with a couple little boys. We would have been toward the back but the ride went down - and we couldn't wait that day.

Have fun, get there at opening and hope for some magic. For us seeing anyone ride with the characters is "almost" as much fun as getting the chance ourselves. One of these days maybe it will be us (or at least my 2 dd's).

My kids and I got to ride with Piglet at the Winnie the Pooh ride once at park opening. My kids were thrilled! :earsgirl:

I got to ride with Goofy on the Barnstormer as well. (Hubby was JEALOUS!! :smooth: )

Oh, yeah!
We rode the carousel at DL with Mary Poppins
and the Penguins. We talked about that the
whole rest of the trip.... Riding the carousel with
Mary Poppins! how cool!

I haven't had a chance to ride with any other
characters though...

rode the teacups once with Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee. They weren't in my teacup, though. The ride didn't work for some reason and the twins were horrible, nearly instigating a riot, making everybody beat their hands on the sides of the cups until those poor ride CMs got it going.
