Ever make your own Jerky?

nope

yes, just once or twice a few years ago. It was AWESOME! I could make it as hot and sweet as I like it. It was so easy. Slice meat, put spices/marinade on, put in dehydrator (or oven) walk away. :thumbsup2

I prefer to make my own food, that way I control the quality. I can guarantee the organic meats/spices I used were cheaper than buying organic jerky pre-made.

Anyone have detailed recipes and instructions?

My husband makes it every year. We have a food dehydrater. Slice the meat and marinade it overnight. He uses some spices we buy at the local grocery store it is in an orange box. I can't remember the name.

Yep! One of the few things DH asked for on our registry was a dehydrator. I don't eat the stuff, but he likes it. I highly recommend the 60ish dollar one from Bed, Bath, & Beyond and their kit for squeezing the meat, etc. that comes with spices. He actually uses ground beef and it comes out really good. He's also tried just using the preservatives and using his own choices for marinades, which has also come out well.
