I'm in a Summer mood...want to lighten and highlite mydark brown hair .

So, what's the biggest color change YOU ever did??? :p

I'm a natural medium brunette with auburn highlights. I went platinum blonde one time.

I have dark dark brown hair, I """"TRIED"""""" to go blonde once as a teenager and it was more orangy blond, it was aweful!

Now I have had some light blonde streaks and they looked really nice.

Yes. I went back to my natural color - dishwater brown. That didn't last long.;)

UGH!!!

I tried to go red about two months ago and I have regretted it ever since. My natural color is lite brown and now I can't get rid of all this darn red!!!

I have way too much gray to just let it grow out. I am just hoping some WDW sun will halp fade it some.

The last time I dyed my own hair I purchased a shade of Feria hair color. The box indicated it would be a beautidul auburn..deep red (and very close to my own color). WRONG!! I walked out of the bathroom and my husband said "Honey..I think your hair is purple." OMG....I had EGGPLANT hair....you won't believe the time and money it took me to look normal. Needless to say....I haven't dyed my own hair since!

About ten years ago, I was in a wild mood and decided to have my naturally med. brown hair colored. I went to a salon and they did a lovely job. When I walked out, I had dk auburn hair. From then on, things started going downhill. As I got used to seeing my reddish hair, I wanted it more and more red. Every time I went back to the salon to have my roots touched up, I would ask them to make it more red. Within a year, I had BRIGHT red Ronald McDonald hair!! I didn't realize how carried away I'd gotten until my SIL's wedding. The bridesmaids wore green dresses, and when I saw myself in pics with that green dress and neon red/orange hair, I was apalled!!! I marched into the salon the very next day and returned to my natural color, and I haven't fooled with it since. (this is what I looked like!)

Crazy For Tigger, I have bad news for you- the red gets more pronounced and orange-y with exposure to sun. You will do better to keep it out of the sun as much as possible.

my natural haircolor is light brown. I've gone pale blonde (not quite platinum) and I've gone red. these days I just put blonde hightlights in.

When my daughters were in their teens I went from brown to grey... :teeth:

I got blonde highlights when I was 15. From then on, my hair just kept getting blonder and blonder. When I was 19, I decided I need a change so I went red. It was pretty drastic but it looked great! It took awhile for the red to stay but right now I love it! It's a great red which looks even nicer in the sun.

Im a blonde (dark blonde) and I went to a really deep auburn color. I love having red hair now, although I have gone to a lighter shade of red.

I think its fun to pick out a color at hte store and try it out... just to liven things up a bit =) I have yet to have a horrid color come out, though one was a bit red in the beginning. it calmed down.

I love blonde highlights, as well, and do them at home from stuff from Sally Beauty. Just have someone pull it through the cap for me.

I have also been known to lay out and tan and spray Sun In on my head constantly... I like the lightened look it gave my usually dark brown hair.

I'm holding out on a drastic change for summer because we're having family pics done at Epcot when we go in a couple of weeks.. but once thats done, all bets are off! I may be at Vero highlighting my hair, LOL!!!!!!!!!

I have brown hair. Since September I have had red and blonde highlights. I really like the red and have been toying with the idea of reddish hair all over. I don't know if I can do it though. Makes me nervous!

It's just hair right? It will grow back. ::yes::

I once went from blonde to orange in a dye job accident. It actually looked really cool but it freaked out my dad. So since it was a wash out I made sure I washed it 6 times a day and it came out in about a week.

I'm usually pretty adventurous when it comes to dying my hair. For a while I had fire engine red hair. And when I was a teenager my friend and I would streak our hair with body hair bleach.

I actually just dyed my hair auburn tonight. It looks really good.

I really want to try something with my hair, but my mom isn't sure if any "at home" products work well enough (get half-decent results, or if they turn into hideous shades). Are any brands better than others? What would you(anyone) suggest for medium brown hair w/ a couple dark blonde highlights?

Do the caps work, for highlights? What about the combs? Or is it just best to get it done at a salon? I want a different look for summer, and wouldn't mind something a bit more drastic than a few highlights, but not sure where to begin.

As a teenager I was a "dirty" blonde. I have darker eyebrows, so everybody assumed I dyed my hair. One girl said, "You need to dye again, your roots are showing.":headache:

In my early thirties I decided it was time for a change & went with a burgundy color. First I went to the hairdresser who had to dye my hair brown, then burgundy. Now I do it myself. Funny thing, ever since I dyed it, people comment on my "natural" red hair!?! My last child has red hair, and people have stopped me (and my mother who has dyed red) and said, "Oh, you got your red hair from your Mom!" (Only if he has been buying hair dye behind my back!)

I am the hair dye queen.
I have been dyeing my hair since I was 14. I went from brownish red to purple to blood red to light red and now Im trying to go blonde. This is my 3 attempt to go blonde red dye is so hard to get out grr. Now I bought the new 100 percent garnier hair dye and I hope it works. I am going for platinum blonde and i have hair up to my shoulder and long bangs so think debby hairry from back in the day.
