Fall 2026 itineraries

MSC is exiting due to poor performance in the market. Not necessarily bullish for DCL out of NY.

Aren't they (MSC) new-ish to the states? I had a friend sail out of Brooklyn on MSC, but it was at a strange time of year for me to even consider sailing out of the northeast. It was on one of our school breaks and they were in long sleeve shirts/sweatshirts when they left NY.

I think the Wish will go to Galveston. Easy LNG port.
I don't disagree that the Wish might end up in Galveston and in theory Galveston should be a great LNG port but final permits to actually getting something built and operational is a long road. Right now they have LNG refueling by barge, workable of course but not nearly the slam dunk it would be if construction was complete.

DCL historically did fall sailings out of NYC too.

I think the biggest thing is that Galveston is a competitive market with the family-friendly Carnival Jubilee and MSC Seascape permanently homeported there, so I think the Wish is Disney's best opportunity at winning in that market. How does the timing work if the Wish does a short season in Europe for her drydock then comes home to Galveston? Does that fit DCL's published timelines?

This was winter...we don't have school breaks in the fall where we're from. I think it was our February break, and while the itinerary was decent-ish, I wouldn't want to sail from the northeast in February.

I've sailed out of NY in the fall, that doesn't bother me. But winter, nope.

It could work as we don’t have any info about Galveston other than 2027. It could be late 2027 starting November-ish after the WBTA, that would also mean that Wish 4 is likely sailing from somewhere in FL already too.

Referring to MSC... right? As the latest DCL has ever been in NYC is late November

I think they started sailing out of US ports, back before COVID. One thing about NY and MSC, is back in 2023 they signed a signed a big sponsorship deal with the NY Knicks... so they leaving is strange.

They have four more of their World Class ships coming online in the next few years, the market is getting very crowded. But yeah they go everywhere...

This is what I think is happening too. The Wish is not doing well out of PC (Look at the stackable discounts for this fall) so moving it to Galveston (after a European season & drydock) and having Wish #4 take it's place out of PC makes a ton of sense to me. I think it will be interesting to see what the theme is for the newest Wish class. Anything too niche makes the chances of the Wish going to Galveston lower IMO (like I personally love Star Wars but I cannot see that being a major theme and doing the PC runs)

Or was it just priced too high, compared to Dream out of Port Everglades? I know for us it was worth traveling down a few miles for the difference last year. Disney has to face competing against other Family Cruises, but now they are also having their own ships compete against each other.

I think Disney miscalculated the VALUE of going on the now 2nd newest (soon to be 3rd) ship... especially with so many vocal complaints about the ships design.

I agree. Only so many people are going to go on 3/4 night cruises on the same ship more than once or twice especially when other DCL ships in PC and PE do that as well.
I love the Wish ( doing our second 3 night cruise on it the end of this Month ). Living an hour away makes it feasible. If we were long distance no way would we fly all the way here to do that more than once or twice even with a parks visit. The Wish is overpriced for sure.

MSC built a HUGE terminal in Miami so they are moving the Meraviglia to Miami and leaving Brooklyn. I thought that maybe/hopefully with that loss, DCL might capitalize on the spot. On these blogs I see a lot of folks wishing for a return to New York, BUT I am a rather new cruiser so I don't know all the industry drivers - just wishful thinking!

When the Dream was sailing the 3/4-night Bahamian cruises, how many seasons in Europe did it do? The Wish is the new Dream.
The Dream sailed in Europe in 2023 and 2024, and will be in Europe again in 2026. The Fantasy is sailing it's first season in Europe in 2025.

Right. The Dream didn't start sailing in Europe until after the Wish started doing the 3/4 night Bahamian cruises, so it is unlikely the Wish will sail out of Europe for an entire season until after a new ship starts sailing 3/4 nights out of Port Canaveral.

My company was/ is part of the industrial water treatment portion of that new terminal. I haven’t seen it since complete but it was amazing how big it appeared while doing a walk through during construction

I think many new cruisers actually prefer the wish class because it is very in your face Disney (not my fav but many love it).

It seems to me that if it’s the first ship you sail on most people seem to prefer that class. New cruisers, who tried the Wish and loved it, also love the Treasure.

I also think that the average family going to a vacation in Orlando is not going to venture down to Port of the Everglades to take a 3/4 night cruise. (I fully predict that they are going to need to offer substantial discounts to fill the Dream in Jan & Feb).

Right now, the Wish is priced a little high, but so is everything from DCL and as of current sailings, it is the 2nd newest ship and sailing out of PC and those always fetch a premium.

The Magic at almost half the capacity (2,500 vs 4,000) also had a ton of summer restricted GT rates as well. I think Disney expanded very aggressively as have other cruise lines and they all might have bitten off more than they can chew.
