Anyone ever knock themselves unconscious??:earseek:

Well, Sunday night, just strolling into the kitchen I missed the trap my dds unintentionally left. There were toys across the entrance. A trap set well enough to catch a wild animal.. ME!

I tripped over the toys, fell into the side cabinet and knocked myself out as I hit the floor. :(
Dh said I was out for a good minute or so and was almost ready to call the ambulance. Luckily I came around. Didn't want to head to the ER but after a couple of hours being lightheaded, headache, blurred eyesight and dizzy I had him drive me.
Ended up being a closed head injury and concussion.Ouch.

Now I got a nasty black and blue deco on my head and partial black eye. Too bad halloween isn't here yet. Headache still pretty bad. Talking some Ultracet for pain but doesn't work really well.

I'm my own worst enemy.

Funny thing at work, they asked who hit me!! I'm more likely to hit myself them my dh to hit me.

Nope, never been knocked out; which is kind of surprising, I guess, I used to play college rugby, and got hit in the head repaetedly, resulting in multiple concussions.

Back in my wild college days, I got in a fight or too where I got on the wrong end of a beating, but still, no knock-outs.

Just call me lucky, I guess.

Well, not super lucky, otherwise I wouldn't have been hit in the head at all.

But still, no offense, luckier than you, I suppose.;)

Thanks. No offense..

Luck seems to have bypassed me of late.
I'll catch a glimpse of it on occasion as it zooms past. Or is that just my blurred eyesight.. ;)

I've never knocked myself out but I did PASS OUT once when I took a strong allergy medicine on an empty stomach. Came from the bathroom and crashed right through the french doors in our bedroom and fell face first on the bed. Had no idea what happened until I heard DH yelling my name asking me if I was ok. :o

Hope you feel better soon! Those darn toys can be dangerous sometimes, I've stepped on a few and tripped over too many to count.

When I was 17, my family and I were staying at the Polynesian Resort. I was by myself, walking by the pool, back to our room and thought I heard someone call my name. I looked for the mysterious person (hoping, I'm sure, it was the cute guy I met earlier) and walked right into a palm tree. Knocked myself flat on my back and out for a few seconds. Luckily, it was my sister that was calling me (and not cute guy), so she got my dad and they took me back to the room. Had a huge welt over my eye and massive headache for the rest of the trip.

I'm a spaz.

I've come close but thankfully not out. I hope you feel better soon.

Yes. My nickname in college became crash! I've had 5 concussions in my lifetime and was told by the docs that I can't get anymore! :teeth:

Two were from car accidents (not my fault and doesn't count for knocking myself out.)

Two were in college. I was asleep on the bottom bunk. My roommates were on the top bunk watching a video when it gave way and crashed on me. Another time, my date to a sorority dance had a wee bit much to drink. As I took him home and he literally fell on top of me and pinned me to the concrete floor. I was knocked out from the fall. I guess those don't count for knocking myself out! They were funny incidents as I look back, but I'm sure my parents didn't think so! (To this day, I've never revealed my dates name to my parents)

I DID knock myself out when I was in High School. I fainted, crashed into my dresser, knocked myself out. I ended up with a broken nose and a concussion.

Yes, my name is CRASH!

Edited to add: I hope that my daughters don't take after me! Yikes!

I know it wasn't funny at the time....but your story just cracks me up!!! It actually reminds me too, of our 2000 Disney cruise. DD was about 6 and we were walking on deck somewhere.....of course kids are always looking around and not where they are going....I was behind DH and her and of course, he wasn't paying attention.....well she walked right smack dab into one of those poles on the deck...the metal ones!!! A bunch of CM's ran to her super quick too...she had a big old "goozer"......I actually saw it coming and tried to warn her.....but "too late"!!!!!

We went on another Dis Cruise in 2002 and noticed they padded all the poles...so I am sure DD wasn't the only one!!!

I stood up too fast a couple of years ago and apparently took two steps and passed out.:faint: Well, on the way down, my head hit the entertainment center and one door was open and my body hit that and broke it clean in two! Knocked myself out and scared my ds who was sick on the couch!! He called my dh who immediately left his office to come home and check on me!! Left his patient sitting in the chair!! :guilty: Needless to say I wasn't such a pretty picture that year for all our christmas pictures with two black eyes, huge bump and carpet burns (?) up and down my face! Guess I skidded across the carpet!!!! I look back and laugh now, but that was pretty embarrassing!!

Never did get that door put back on either!!!:o

And here I thought I was the only clumsy one.. we dis'ers are a klutzy bunch aren't we? ;)
I've been known to trip over my own feet.

Funny my left eye is only now starting to swell shut after a day and a half.

Thanks for the best wishes. If you think about it the stories aren't really funny until you look back on them

Oh my, that's not funny at all! Glad you're alright and hope you're on the mend, soon!!

You also topped my 'trap story' from Friday night. I walked into one of those 'traps' myself, but I only broke a toe, and not even an important one that causes me much pain or immobility. :o

You, my dear, are much 'better' at this trap-thing, than I! ;)

I didn't do it to myself, my dog did it to me. I was in my backyard planting flowers. My then German Shepard/Lab mix came running full tilt and hit is head against mine. When I came around, he was just sitting there beside me. He seemed fine. I had one really bad headache. Since I was there by myself, I have no idea how long I was out. I did go in and call my sister. I had her call me every hour for a few hours just to make sure that I didn't keel over. I was fine.

Most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to me in my life. I was a cheerleader all through high school and college. At a HUGE basketball ballgame - our in-county rival - my junior year I had just tumbled all the way down the floor during starting line-ups. The gym was packed! I had done 9 or 10 backhandsprings and so I was a little dizzy - but no big deal - I did this at a lot of games. So I'm running back down the floor to get to our sidelines and still trying to lead the crowd - like a good cheerleader :cheer2: :cheer2: - "Let's go!" "Let's go Big Blue!" So if you were a cheerleader or have ever paid any attention to them you could probably imagine the type of motions I was doing with my cheer. Well - I actually HIT MYSELF IN THE HEAD SO HARD THAT I KNOCKED MYSELF OUT! I went down like a rock - I don't remember that part - and was half on the court and half off on the sideline. Apparently they were scared to move me because no one was really sure what has happened - so in addition to completely humiliating myself in front of everyone I knew I delayed the start of the game for 20 minutes! The teams had to warm up again!:o

To make it worse my boyfriend and I had broken up and he was there with his new girlfriend. I was almost right in front of them when I hit myself!

I dont think i can count the times ive knocked myself out,i used to skateboard and ride bmx bikes on 15 foot high halfpipes and well over a dozen times was escorted to the ER unconscious, ive wrecked pretty bad racing go karts and been knocked out but i think the worse was i was walking into my gas station and someone left the lift up and i walked around the corner right into it ,caught it right at the bridge of my nose and knocked me right out,i woke up on the table being stitched up,broke my nose and 6 stitchs.

Nope.....

But I've told a lot of people to do it. Example:
DH: "I want to go on Space Mountain"
Me: "Knock yourself out....."

:)

When I was around 6 years old, cant remember what I was playing with, but I pricked my finger and was staring at a bead of blood, told my mom I was thirsty, so she walked me to the kitchen and got me a dipper of water(this was in the 60's) and left. Next thing I knew, she was shaking me , I had passed out , knocked my head against the cabinet and vomited.
In the 70's I was hanging out with some friends, hippies, and one of the guys was making some kind of joke while he had a knife in his hand, dummy me was laughing and said " Oh, no" and raised up my arm, stuck my hand in the point of the knife, just a little blood, but I'm getting hot, so he takes me to the bathroom and gives me a large glass of water, and leaves, I raise the glass to take a drink and notice my hand and glass going up and up. Next thing I know, I'm on the floor, open my eyes and see two people with long hair bending over me, thought I was dead! I had passed out, hit my head on the tub, with water and broken glass all over me.
When I was about 23, I lived with my cousins. One day I was making a sandwich, couldn't open the ham package, so dummy me used a steak knife-quess what, yeah, stuck myself. Getting dizzy and hot so my cousin walks me to the back door, I say let me go and I proceeded to run, sideways out the door straight into cousins El Camino and to the ground, he carries me inside and I lay in the floor awhile to cool off (wood floor) then decide I'm going to vomit, so I go shakey and fast to the bathroom. This was an older home, and the bathroom door was open into the hallway, well, I ran straight into the edge of the door, hard.Right between the eyes! Knocked me to the floor. Never went to the doctor.

Almost. I came very close when I clocked myself in the head as I was picking change up from under a desk. I ended up with a concussion and 3 days off work.

Have to say... that was a really dumb thing to do lol.

:o

I don't know totalia, it depends on how much change it was ;)
